Was 11 minutes past my exam time due to misunderstanding. I thought it was 9:30, it was a 9:20 appointment. They didn't give me any options at all other than, sorry so sad. Not even lets see ifbthe next person shows up, or if you would like to wait, it could take a while and we would fit you in. Nothing. Mind you yesterday I showed up a day early, because life was life-ing and I have so much on my plate. It's the complete lack of empathy that I find so disturbing. Last year I didn't love the Dr's bedside manner, she was dismissive, and I never got my dry eye problem resolved. Also I specifically asked for the other doctor, but didn't get her when I showed up. This is what I get for giving them a third chance. Don't come here unless you are perfectly healthy never make a scheduling error, or are basically human. read more

Time for new glasses!! A local recommended dr's office is not taking new patients, so I set up an appt with My Eye Dr. I received two text messages - to which I responded - confirming appt. I then arrived at my appt only to find that they canceled my appt because I didn't answer when they "called to confirm". They never called nor left a voicemail, unless their number is blocked or doesn't include a name. Apparently, this is the way their system works, now, according to April, the Asst Mgr on duty. So, be warned before taking time off work to come see these folks. If you are reading this and are local, I'll update with the experience I have at a real office where you can actually speak to someone. Oh! 2nd year in a row!!! I know I should have gone back a second time but I thought it was a fluke. Both years they couldn't get my glasses right after sending them out a couple times. The eye doctor could not have been less friendly, and never mind you telling her your symptoms or problems as she just brushed them off. They couldn't even get my name right. I had to make to separate trips in there (20 minutes one way ) because of their incompetence. Both my contacts and glasses were there but they couldn't find my glasses because it was under the wrong name!!!!! It was just a horrible experience and one thing after the other. I was so underwhelmed with this place, you walk in, and you expect a desk to be in the front area, you turn right, there's a bunch of people staring at you at their desks lol. I was overcharged on a contact exam, and they turned it into charging you for glasses exam as well. I was under the impression I was getting a contact exam only, this aligned with the actual appointment I scheduled online for myself, specifically for a contact exam, NOT GLASSES. Even if I had a contact exam, I was told, typically the contact exam would work for glasses and never charged for it, this place slaps the additional charge on you and looks at you funny lol. I spent over 200$ on what I thought was only going to be a contact exam, that's all I needed, most I ever spent for a contact exam was a little over a 100$. Thats the price I've paid multiple times for a contact exam at other places. I just know I won't be returning here; seems they like to over-charge their patients. The doctor was thorough. read more

They have way too many patients scheduled back to back for the amount of doctors they have on staff. The wait time is minimal 30 minutes after the scheduled appt time. It is evident they are all about billing insurances and collecting money as opposed adequate patient care and timeliness of meeting appointment times. Most of the eye glass frames are the same colors, patterns and styles. They don't have bold color selections so if you prefer the regular colors this is the place to go. read more

My family and I had been longtime patients with My Eye Doctor. Our visit today was the worst we have ever experienced. My daughter went in for her contact lens exam and the doctor refused to RE-Prescribe her monthly contacts (that she has had for years) and would only sign off on dailies (over $400 difference). The optometrist (who is obviously new) decided to be my daughter's parent instead of her eye doctor and told my daughter that she would have to "prove to her" that she was worthy of monthly contacts. THAT is not her wheelhouse, she should have stayed in her lane. Then the doctor refused to even discuss it with me (the actual parent). Asking someone to spend almost $1000 on dailies instead on RE-Prescribing ones that she has used for years is an obvious scam/ripoff. My Eye Doctor should be ashamed of this unprofessional and unethical conduct. Their unprofessional conduct and unethical business practice has lost this family's business. read more

I made an appointment over a week ago and was called on Wednesday to confirm the appointment. My appointment was for that same week on Friday.I received a message saying confirm apt to ensure I had an appointment. I was not able to call and confirm that same day but called the next day and was told that because I didn't call back, my appointment had been canceled. That was less than 26 hrs later. This is so ridiculous and horrible customer service. It just happens that I received bad news the day they called. It was after close when I could have called them back. Absolutely horrible company to do business with. My wife made them aware we have 2 vision policies when making her appointment but after the exam when she went to pick her glasses she was told their policy is to only take 1 insurance. She got a cheaper set of glasses to get by. When I spoke to customer care I was told it was their policy as well but then spoke with another rep who told me it was not their policy. When I was asked how I would like to resolve the issue I requested the glasses my wife wanted be giver to her but instead was given a $30 refund and then told nothing more could be done because they did that. We will never spend another penny with this company if they feel like being disrespectful and lying to customers is a good way of doing business. read more

I had an appointment 6 weeks from now but my aging eyes said "seek new spectacles now!". I spoke with Ms. Trisha and she said she could place me on the standby list in case anyone cancelled. Like Maverick on the flight deck, I awaited the call to action with great anticipation. Alas! On a crisp Saturday morning at 0800 such a call came. It was Ms. Trisha! Trisha: "Mav, I have a spot open. Can you roll your awesomeness over here with immediate effect?" Me: "I'm rolling in 5!" That was in no way, a direct quote but just go with it. I quickly made my way in and was geared up with the proper protective Covid equipment and was briskly whisked over to mission #1: the squiggly line eye thingy followed by the little red house focus thingamabobber. No little burst of air in my eye this time. Not that I fear that (or anything) but..I feared it. I made my way to room #2. On to Mission #2: Doctor. I bobbed. I weaved, I placed my chin on the deceptive letter lookie thingy and made some #1 and #2 decision based on ocular target assessment. Yup, Doctor confirmed that the missile targeting system was in need of an upgrade and would. It was time for the new targeting system. I needed some secretary glasses. I made my way to....Ms. Cathy. Kinda like a mullet, one look at her and she's all professional, but the spikey hair tells me there's a party happening there from time to time. Best to be polite and tread lightly but look for festive hints. Ever the consummate professional, she kept all glasses I touched in a little bin, later to be sanitized. Partly because I'm a mouth breather knuckle dragger with dirty hands but mostly because of covid concerns. She even acquiesced to my childish guy with Elton John lady sunglasses imitation she's likely seen 1000 times from every other 80's dude that's stepped foot in that joint. We quickly made canine contact and exchanged dog pics (serious, they really were of our dogs). Lo and behold, after many repetitive questions lobbed her way, I was able to get my current Oakley frames redone with new lenses and new proper office professional (and not overly effeminate) glasses. Jeeeehaww! Two bogies down with the help of Ms. Cathy, Ms. Trish and fellow crew members of the MyEyeDr carrier! Lots of high-fives all around as our victory was sealed. You can be my Eye Dr. anytime. I'd love to say I rode off into the sunset on my motorcycle but my updated prescription is a few weeks away. I gently rode off in a family friendly vehicle at modest speed limits riding the brake like an old lady. The end. read more

My family and I have been patients at this facility for over 8 years and I'm done. I've only seen one Dr in all the appointments we've had that actually had a personality and was friendly. In addition, the staff on the floor are simply ridiculous as they clearly have no knowledge of optometry and quite frankly they seem to be no more than high school grads, if that. They are your everyday retail type employee and they should not be working in any kind of medical capacity. Furthermore, I was 8 minutes late for my last appointment due to an unforeseen emergency and I was informed I could not be seen since I had exceeded the 7 minute maximum by 1 minute. Seriously? I've never been satisfied with the care I received at this eyeglasses mini mart but I continued to go there simply because there are not a lot of other choices close by. I am taking my business elsewhere even if I have to drive considerably further to get there. Thank you April. My appointment was scheduled for 11:30. It is now 12:25 and the doctor just took the person ahead of me back. They are overbooked. And when the gentleman ahead of me asked how much longer the receptionist could only say, "you are next." Gee, thanks. If I didn't need to get new glasses and if I hadn't invested this much time I would walk out. That being said, while they won't miss me and they will continue to have business, they may no longer have mine. UPDATE: After finally getting to see the doctor, I am willing to give them a second chance but only because of the doctor. She was apologetic and visibly upset that they were running behind. We had a nice conversation about the issue and because of how valued as a patient she made me feel am I willing to give 2 additional stars and a second chance. read more

They sold me a pair of glasses that fell apart in the first couple of months made me use my warranty to fix them and then said I couldn't buy a warranty for the new pair. I asked the manager if the new ones where to fall apart he said I would have to pay out of pocket for a new pair. Very poor customer service. read more

This place has the worst customer service when it comes to keeping the customer updated. I received my sunglasses a week and a half after ordering and I didn't recieve my eyeglasses until over a month later! Turns out the lab broke them and had to order new ones. I wish I got a phone call stating my new glasses would be delayed with an ETA. So instead I called 4 times, once on the 31st of July (when they were originally due to be in) and was told the lab hasn't shipped them yet but they would give me a call after they spoke with the lab.. Never did. I called again on the 3rd, 4th and 5th to be told the same thing that they would call the lab and give me a call back. SURPRISE they never did. I finally went in on the 6th to pick up my sunglasses and to speak to someone in person and they told me a manager would call the lab and give me a call back. NOPE! But at that time they did tell me they were due the following day. No one ever called me to let me know they came in, I had to call them. This is the first and last time I will use My Eye Dr. I normally go to Lense Crafters but wanted to give this place a try. Good thing I still had my other glasses otherwise I would be out of glasses for over a month! Been using this location for years, before it became myeyedr. The Optometrists there are very thorough and take the time to really make sure I get the best contact and glasses. Since I am extremely myopic it is important for me to get someone who doesn't rush. They can work with any insurance so it doesn't matter that my employer changes vision carriers. Glasses are well made and prices were comparable to other places. Optical staff were very helpful and discussed every step of lens selection as well as quoted costs. No surprise charges. Super long wait times (my 3rd visit) so plan to schedule a full day off work. Very disappointed with this practice. I sat 30 mins before another patient inquired on her appt and was told she had 2 more in front of her. I then asked about mine and was told at least another hour and a half wait! I asked if they thought I was just going to sit there and wait patiently; and why didn't they say something when I signed in? They only provided tons of excuses and no solution. Excessive wait times to get an appointment, before and during the eye exam. Costs are high even when you provide your frames, ($421.80) for just two lenses (tri-focal) with Crizal only. This was with a 20% discount! Let's not forget I had to pay $119.00 for an eye exam. Long wait time to get glasses back from the lab, 11/10/20 - 12/05/21. No communication from the store regarding the status of the order during this entire time. Once the glasses came in, I was not allowed in the showroom to have the glasses fitted, much less try on to see if the lenses were correct. This was due to company COVID policy. If your paying to get an exam or buying glasses, you are allowed anywhere in the building but that's not the case when you pick up your glasses that you have paid for in advance. You can either get a fitting in the parking lot, or take your glasses home and bring them back if your not satisfied. In my case the lenses were incorrect and I requested a refund for $421.80 which I did receive plus my original lenses and frames which are in pieces. That's not the condition my glasses were in when I submitted the order. Except for the refund, one star for overall customer service. One star for overall customer experience. Not only are they very very sanitary and have a very strategic way of handling patients safely, they are so nice! Dr. Cassella made sure no stone was left unturned with my daughter eyesight. He gave her a VERY thorough exam and is truly the nicest! The whole staff is so well informed and helped us get through the whole appointment in the most stress free way! This is pretty much one of the only eye doctors in town. The initial eye exam and experience was great, however when my glasses were damaged and I went to get a replacement pair, that was a completely different, NOT great experience. I purchased the insurance, because I know how I am, and damage things easily. When I went to pick up my " new" replacement pair, I immediately noticed a chip on the frame. I brought it to the associates attention and she told me that was how the frame was made. I left, and when I got the chance, inspected my "new" pair. Not only was there a chip, but there were also scratches and the fitting was smaller. I went back about 30 mins later, if that, to show them the frames. The associate I dealt with immediately said, before even looking in the system, "these specific frames can't be ordered any longer and they're not as scratched as your other pair."... I replied that while I understood they weren't as scratched as my previous pair, I paid for insurance, which guarantees a new pair if damaged, and that the glasses weren't cheap (Michael Kors) and it was unacceptable to try and replace them with a pair from the "try on"wall. The associate then said, "I mean, we can try to see if another location has a pair, but they'll probably be in the same condition." Shocked by the lack of customer service, I stood there just staring at her in disbelief about what she was saying. Finally, she looked in the computer, and what do ya know, they could be ordered brand new... she says, "so it does look like we can order them, but it'll be two weeks before they come in." I said that was no problem, and would be happy to wait. While I did eventually get a brand new pair, they first tried to give me a set they already had from the wall, tried to say that's how the frames were made, that they couldn't be ordered new anymore and that they weren't as scratched as my other pair. I'm writing this to just let people know to be aware, that if they get a replacement frame covered under insurance, inspect them! I don't know if they're trained to try and give you a pair they already have and tell you they can no longer be ordered new to see if the customer will accept them, but this was absolutely unacceptable! read more

I was very disappointed. I went back and told them the glasses didn't feel right. I had a pulling sensation. One of the opticians "checked" and told me it was fine after adjusting the frame. Well despite what I was told they weren't fine. I went to another eye doctor clear out of the area with stellar reviews as I know I have bad astigmatism. My glasses were off quite a bit and I was told that when a patient experiences that pulling feeling something is definitely wrong. I will NEVER go to this place again. I had to wait a long time to have them "checked" and obviously the person checking didn't know what they were talking about. read more

Was a customer before the change to MyEyeDr and will not be any longer. The Dr I was seeing wasn't very personable but they had all my info so I kept going. Took several visits to get my contact prescription right, even though several of the visits were unnecessary. Even heard a customer complain about waiting 3 months for his glasses during one of these visits. After the poor customer service I recently received I will be going elsewhere. First and foremost, refrain from using this business in Charles Town. They will contact you via phone, text, email and mail relentlessly reminding you about your appointment. However, when it comes time for your appointment you will wait at least an hour and a half before being seen by the doctor. While waiting, they will insist on you spending your time looking at glasses and then treat you like a customer being bombarded by a salesperson at a used car lot. Meanwhile, when you approach staff to inquire the wait time, they will say they are just following protocol, sorry. I will most certainly never be customer of MyEyeDr again. read more

Hello I was in your establishment a few weeks ago. I brought my daughter in for her first exam for back to school. My first impression was we were greeted with warm, bright smiles, and warm Welcome to my eye dr simultaneously. Check in was painless. The young lady that did my daughters pretesting was amazing. She made my daughter feel very comfortable and even gave her stickers. As we were waiting to be called back by the Dr, the Dr came bumrushing out of the room and proceeded to interrupt the lady on the phone. The lady grew frustrated with her and put one finger up letting her know to give her a minute. The dr then proceeded to interrupt her. By that time the lady spoke up and said, you're going to have to wait. The then mumbled i guess im interrupting, them stormed off. She came back and opened a cabinet, slammed it, huffed and puffed, and threw her hands up and walked on the opposite side. I then went to the front desk and asked the light complected young lady the dr name. She told me Dr hoover. I asked her was that who my daughter was seeing and would we have any problems. She apologized profusely and assured me things would be alright. When it was my daughters turn Dr Hoover came and began to question me about my daughters medical history and any medications in front of a waiting room of people. I immediately thought to myself, this is a big HIPAA violation. I told her i went over all of this with the pretester behind closed doors, she went on to say i just want to confirm and make sure she didnt miss anything. Being a Nurse who works in the NICU this is completely unprofessional. I applaud your staff, they handled the situation very professional and need to be rewarded. Working with someone of that character and demeanor is horrible and i feel sorry for them. I hope your establishment will handle this in the right manner. read more
