The exam felt a little rushed but the front office was very patient and attentive to my glasses preference.

My eye was painful and tearing for a whole night. Luckily I came here on the right time. The receptionist and the doctor were nice to me. They also take walk in patient so if you get your eyes hurt, just come right away to get good treatment. The Doctor checked my eyes carefully gently. Attached is her card. Her name is Areen. She's so understanding. She even gave me a coupon because my medicine for my eye was expensive. Just do whatever the doctor tell you to do and your eyes will heal soon. read more

What a clown house! And that may be generous... I have been here twice - - the optician seems competent and professional; however, the clerks in the retail area clearly need leadership on how to serve customers... Okay... Here's my experience... Went in about a month ago for an eye check up. I knew I needed new lenses for the glasses. Was greeted upon coming into the door and then met the optician at the appointed hour... Sure enough... Needed new lenses... Optician was professional, courteous and efficient. Answered all my questions. After meeting with the optician I sat down with a front office clerk -- The one that sits closest to the optometrist counter. Asked her how much it would cost - - she provided a dollar amount. I then asked if she could do a small repair on my existing frames. I was missing a screw that held a lens in place. She said yes - - went over behind the counter and came back with a screw that was one eighth of an inch too long and it did not hold the lens in place at all on the glasses. I brought that to her attention and she quickly said she had no shorter screws. I then asked about why the lens was still loose in the frame and she said that the threads are stripped on the frames. Not true! Turns out the sales clerk actually inserted the screw backwards in the eyeglass frame... And this was the lead clerk! I think most eyeglass users know that the lens screw is inserted from the top down. This clerk opted to insert it from the bottom up -- clearly not securing the lens in place. Then I asked the clerk if she could recommend some clip on sun glass lenses for my glasses - - she said she could; however, she thought I could actually get a better price at Costco! Amazing... My Eye Dr. sales associate recommending I go to a competitor! Needless to say - - I did not buy the clip ons during that visit. I quickly paid the balance owed and went home. Back at the house I took a pair of pliers, cut the screw down to proper length and inserted it properly. Frames fixed -- no thanks to My Eye Dr. The next day I returned to the store - - thank goodness the original sales clerk was not there. I ordered the clip on sunglass lenses and also the new prescription for the existing frames - - The sales clerk said it would take about two weeks for both the clip on lenses and new prescription lenses to come in. He also said they would email me when all items arrived in the store. Well two weeks became three weeks which became 3 1/2 weeks and still no email... I decided to return to the store to get a status. Guess what? The items were there! Break. Break. - - more details... Went back to order another set of clip bonds - - not sure why... I should've gone to another store... The front office clerks debated who was going to help me - - within my hearing range! I realized my business was not welcome - - left... Recommendation - - never ever ever go here. There are plenty of other optometrists that can take care of business. Frankly I am amazed they have stayed in business this long... Lose them. read more

I've been wearing contact lenses since I was 10 years old, and have never been written a worse prescription than the two I've received from My Eye Dr. I was told I was a bad candidate for bifocal contacts, that bifocal contacts were not worth the price, and was encouraged to not wear a contact in one eye for near vision (in an eye with a -4.25 prescription? No wonder I had headaches.) Staff gives you a VERY hard sell, although I give the storefront props for having a large variety of attractive eyeglass frames. After two years of being unhappy with my prescription (and follow-up visits where I was told "this is the best we can do for you") I finally found a great eye doctor at the Woodbridge Costco, of all places. a toric lens in one eye and a lens for presbyopia in the other; much, much cheaper than My Eye Dr., and even better - I can SEE! read more

I would certainly have to agree with the person who said this location lacks professionalism. I have been going here for about 2 years and have finally had enough. From losing my information (more than once) to forgetting to call me when my contacts were in, this place is about as unprofessional as they come. My prescription was also never correct on the first try, which left me coming back in on my time for additional exams. I finally had it when a staff member was EXTREMELY rude and talked down to me on the phone. I'll be taking my business elsewhere from now on. read more

Worst experience ever. Been a customer for many years but not anymore thanks to Macey...a Hispanic lady who claims she is the manager. She wasn't helpful and was very rude. I had ordered contacts and they didn't place the order. When I asked for a sample pair of contacts, she said she could not provide me with some. I thought LensCrafters sucked but these guys are awful. I've been to this location for glasses and one they have in Alexandria for contacts and everyone is initially pleasant but 2 minutes in they become rude and unprofessional. Multiple visits to get a pair of glasses done correctly and they won't even apologize or acknowledge their mistakes. Highly recommend everyone from the sales associates to the doctors' personnel be trained in customer service. The only redeeming quality for both locations I have been to are the doctors. They are both professional and very good at what they do. That's what the 2 stars are for, not the rest of the employees! Otherwise it would be 1 star. read more

I got my eyes checked and contacts and glasses done here. Great service and everyone was really courteous. I usually get Costco prices for my contacts, but they were able to price match to an existing place that's lower in price than Costco. Additionally, if you buy the year's supply of contacts, you're pretty much set for the year if you run out -without additional cost. They've got a nice selection of glasses too! read more

I was skeptical, I'll admit, but my other optometrist was costing me too much, so I thought I'd try something different. My son saw doctor Hussaini, who we both really liked, she was kind and took her time examining him and asked him lots of questions. Alvaro helped us with our glasses purchase. He was very friendly and helpful. Everything was very smooth, quick, and I paid significantly less than I would have paid at my regular optometrist. I had a great experience there. My first visit a couple of years ago was not the best (not the worst either), but my two last visits and my spouses visit has been a great experience. They have been helpful and very informative. My glass prescription by the most recent doctor is GREAT! I also had an amazing experience with the insurance I purchased. My glasses were scratched on the lenses right in the main viewing area and I took it in and they replaced the lenses immediately, no questions asked (well, it took a week, but got them back) and my insurance was about to expire in a week! read more

I just moved to Lorton and went to My Eye Dr. for the first time last week. I had a lot of pressure in my eyes and needed to see someone right away. Dr. Hussaini took me in right away. I highly recommend her to anyone! She spent a good amount of time with me and answered all my questions. Today, when I went back for a check up and contact and eye glass exam, she spent almost an hour with me to make sure that I got exactly what I was looking for. I have really never had any of my previous eye doctors spend time with me to make sure all my questions were answered and I was happy with the products I was purchasing. I will continue to see her regularly and I will encourage all my family and friends to do so as well. Also, Cesar, who helped me order my glasses and contacts was fabulous as well. He really spent a good amount of time to make sure the frames I picked out looked good and explained to me all my choices to make sure I was happy with what I was getting for the price. This location just gained a new manager. Sabrina was friendly, helpful, and informative. I had a small mistake w my prescription from an outside doctor, and she had no problem calling the outside office to clarify a question. Although I've never been overly impressed with the franchise's selection of frames, the prices were more reasonable than I remember. Considering they don't have the lab to create the lenses on sight, it requires a little patience to wait the week for my glasses. Overall, I am completely satisfied with my experience. read more

Well after my first review of this place on Yelp the business called me the next day (Drew) saying their customer service forgot to tell me that the insurance part takes two weeks to clear. I had a wonderful experience here! I did not have an appointment but was seen promptly. It was a professional atmosphere without being too stuffy. The staff was extremely personable, and accommodating. Laurie, the eyewear consultant was EXTREMELY helpful as I looked for the perfect frame. I was able to make a same day appointment for an eye exam and new glasses for dad. I didn't wait long and the exam went as well as expected. The doctor suspected my dad had chronic dry eye, which was confirmed, and she recommended three brand names to try out so we can buy whatever is on sale. He has insurance but they gave us 30% discount which was more than what insurance would have covered. Alvaro helped me and explained the different types of lenses, progressive and why it was recommended. I appreciated his help. Few days later I went in for my own eye exam. I wasn't having vision problems, I just wanted an exam before my insurance expired. It turned out that I had a minor astigmatism but still saw 20/20 and glasses were recommended. This was a shocker. I didn't plan time for glasses and told the attendant I needed to come back. The attendant didn't seem to appreciate that and I felt like I was pressured to stay and make a decision. I ended up going back and ordered glasses. I picked them up earlier than promised. I tried them on at the store and as I didn't have any problems seeing before, I couldn't tell if my vision improved with them on. The attendant didn't ask me if they fit well or needed adjustments. I will need to go back and get them adjusted as the glasses shift down my nose very frequently, especially during meals. I also received the 30% discount. read more

Worst glasses buying experience ever! Nice local people but corporate personnel are not effective. Local tech and Dr. couldn't measure prescription correctly on current glasses. Dr. exam results were wrong. Very slow delivery (3+ weeks). When new trifocals didn't work they promised to re-order bifocals instead using previous prescription but then didn't actually order them. After 10 weeks with no usable glasses requested refund; only partial refund given. One and two weeks later told "check is in the mail" but it wasn't. Finally got local manager to issue a credit card refund. Went to Ft. Belvoir PX optical shop; got perfect glasses in less than 1 week for less than half the cost. AVOID MYEYEDR!!!!!!!!!! read more

While my first reviewed raved about my experience, but my experience in actually picking up my glasses was a nightmare. My glasses came in just fine, but my sunglasses came in at a later date and were chipped. When I pointed the chip out to the associate they said that they would order a new pair and check to see if another local store carried them. Weeks went by and finally I had to call to ask about the status of my glasses. They still needed to be ordered... so then another few weeks went by and they called and told me that the black version of my glasses came in, instead of the brown that I ordered. They told me I could come get the black ones if I wanted. I said no thank you. A few more weeks went by and I called again asking about the status. They said the galsses are here and that I needed to come pick them up. I asked are you talking about the black ones which are not what I ordered or did my brown ones finally come in? She said the black ones. I explained everything that previously happened and said that I would not drive to their store again until they could give me the brown glasses that I paid for. She put me on hold for a while and then came back and asked if they could call me back. When I received a call back they let me know that the glasses had been discontinued. I told them that I did not appreciate how many times I had to call to find out the status and just the overall poor level of customer received. They then allowed me to come in the store and pick out a new pair. I will say they did let me pick out any pair from the store that I wanted for no extra charge, but overall the entire situation and having to return to the store so many times and place so many calls left a sour taste in my mouth. read more

Walk in to My Eye Dr at lorton thinking that I was gonna get a better service than other places bt came out more disappointed. Customer service was not what i expected no help at all and when finally someone approached me, he easily left and started another customer and didn't even get someone else to help me. I wish there was more helpful people. Management should real put some cameras and take a look how your customer services really is. read more

Employees are pleasant. Were not versed in vision insurance plan, but did take the policy and researched the benefit. This issue of benefit was cleared up. Gladly repaired previous purchased eyeglasses. Worked to provide best pricing however added options that were not disclosed or discussed with customer which increased cost to customer. Dr. Hussaini is knowledgeable, efficient, and pleasant. Alvaro who helped with the purchase of glasses/contacts/billing was very knowledgable and pleasan. Did not receive free sunglasses. My eye place closed in Springfield mall and I was dreading finding a new place. Stopped in today and got a walk in appt after the holiday weekend. I thought the staff was super welcoming and very professional. Paperwork was not too burdensome. The pre- tests were easy and the equipment was sanitized before I used it. The doctor explained everything very well. They set me up with a complimentary sample of contacts and I got great deal on year supply. Bringing some old glasses to get new lenses in- as I have never seen this be an affordable option to do by another company. Very pleasant experience. I am glad I have new place. read more

I took our 14 year old daughter for her annual eye appt yesterday. This is the 2nd time we have been to this location and had a wonderful experience. Her Dr is Dr. Hussaini who is very patient and really takes her time to make sure my 14 year old understands everything that is going on. This time we decided to let her try contacts. My daughter was nervous about putting them in her eyes but the technician, Mo, explained everything in great detail to us. Explained to her how to clean them, all the Do's and Dont's of contacts. He was also so very patient with her, she's 14 and had a million questions! :) We did not feel rushed, they even price matched the contacts to make sure we received the lowest price. I can't say enough nice things about the staff at this location...so professional and very helpful and accomodating. We will definitely continue to go back. Totally 5 stars for Mo, and Dr. Hussaini. :) read more

This was my first visit to this franchise - I am new here from California and finding an eye dr isn't the easiest task in a new town. My first impression was OK as the help does greet you as soon as you walk in the door, but soon toldto me that the online history that I had completed online could not be found. The receptionist did the initial screening for glaucoma (air puff test) and a reading of my eyes "for the right prescription" - weird but OK, I'm not an optometrist. If you want a retinal exam with a certain (presumably new) x-ray machine, the cost is an additional $27. I object to that since a retinal exam should be the standard of care. But it isn't covered by insurance, so you just have to decide - I declined it. The optometrist did perform a "back of the eye" exam the traditional way anyway. The receptionist had me fill out all of the paperwork that I had already completed online one more time, but the problem was that she had retained my glasses so she could read the prescription, so reading the 8 point type was a challenge. She might have given that a little thought but I managed. I wasn't very happy about the fact that by this time I had been in the office for 40 minutes. But while I sat there I noted that the help did seem to pay attention to the customers and give them advice and assistance, so that was a positive. I just think the first person who deals with patients should give what she's doing a little more thought and organization. My optometrist was Dr. Hussaini, who was very pleasant and willing to answer questions. The jury is still out as to whether or not she got my glasses prescription right, I will add that to the review when I know in a couple of weeks. The customer service person who assisted me was Alvaro, who was very pleasant and helped me find a pair of very light frames, which I appreciated. Very personable. But the real test will be the glasses themselves - if they get the prescription right, I will note that here and I will be happy. I told them about the issues I'd had with glasses before. I won't bore everyone here, but I have a challenging prescription. I appreciated the fact that they didn't try to upsell me as so many offices do, particularly with frames. I mentioned to Alvaro that I needed to stay within my insurance and he went to the right group of frames. That is definitely a plus. My past optometry experience was with the office at the Pentagon and it was not bad but I can see now that they sold me pricey frames I didn't need. Oh BTW, this office will reuse past frames with new lenses if you have them with you. If I had known that I would have brought another set of frames in with me for re-use. Most offices won't re-use old frames (they want to sell you new ones). That was different! Overall I had a good first experience. Will update when the glasses arrive. read more

I have been seeing Eye Doctor at this location for several years but last year a Lady Doctor prescribed me glasses that destroyed my eyes after wearing the glasses for a month. I complained about it and went there three times to change the glasses but they could not fix it. So I gave up and don't go there anymore. I have been wearing contacts since middle school and for the past 3-4 years I have had the same prescription. I moved to Lorton from Virginia Beach and unfortunately had to change doctors. When I went to this office the doctor was very nice but for some reason my prescription changed in one eye (from -4.50 to -4.75). I thought this was fine because of course you are supposed to trust the doctor right? After the exam I was pressured into buying a years prescription of contact lenses by any means. I told them that I normally used 1800contacts on my own but they insisted that I go through them to do it. So I watched as they ordered through the 1800contacts website for me and payed a price significantly higher than I was used to paying. Usually I would be handed a prescription and allowed to make a decision on my own. So a couple of months later I had the lasik surgery. Throughout the screening process for the surgery, they reexamined my eyes and of course, my prescription didn't change. My Eye Dr made me pay for two different contacts for each eye with just the slightest difference in prescription in order to make me pay more money. I only went to this office because of a value pak coupon and ended up paying more than necessary. On top of that, I have a year's supply of contacts--unused and unopened-- that they refuse to take back. I contacted 1800contacts and they offered to buy them back from me! read more
