I'm recently postpartum and the things we moms have to do for babies is wild! Newborn neck? Mommy thumb? It's all real! A mom in one of my mom groups suggested Myofascial release. I kept it in the background until I was having weird hip, and just in general right side pain because as my daughter got bigger I had to get into a weird position and hold it for a long time. I got an appointment with Trevor (good Yelp and google reviews). He was very kind, and if you're first client of the day he's chatty which helped me relax. He explains all about what he's going with finding places and holding them for 2 minutes or more and gives all kinds of tips and tricks for at home. After the first time I was sore, but took his advice and did an epsom salt bath and lots of water. I came a week later and since then I haven't had any pain! I originally thought that Myofascial release and nervous system work & regulation was a bit of an overhyped and false thing, but the people here have proved me so wrong! I've been working primarily with Tana and a few structurally focused sessions with Tom. My scoliosis has improved (never thought that'd happen) and my body feels a lot less tense & tweaked. I was struggling to manage random health symptoms & general overwhelm, and felt like I was in charge of a train I didn't have any control over. Stuff just happened and I would feel frozen; tree in the middle of the tracks? I'd ram straight into it and spend days/weeks repairing the engine. After a couple months of working with Tana it feels like I developed my own hand break in my train; I can slow down a bit, assess, and have more room to process and handle things. Very disappointed in the experience I had with Brandon. His line of questioning didn't inspire confidence. It felt like he was learning on the job. He knows a lot of terminology but that's not the same as having an instinct for healing bodies. And his attempts at forced conversation were unwelcome. No pain or discomfort was adequately addressed. It was cringe-inducing to be asked again and again if there was any change in my discomfort when the truth was that there wasn't. Embarrassing. If you go here try and get someone who's very experienced. This was a total waste of money. Frances - I don't think it's acceptable to have clients pay for an intern who is "currently in training" to practice on their bodies without alerting them in advance. I expected (especially at your prices) an experienced practitioner. Please amend your communication so that clients can select a caretaker who has the skills they need. read more

Eric Urpa is the first massage therapist that I have found who can help me manage my chronic pain condition. I have been seeing him for approximately two years. He is professional, kind, and knowledgeable. Eric has been well trained and he uses that knowledge, in addition to outside research, to support his clientele. I've been coming here to see Tom for over 5 years. Great location and very friendly people who work there as well. The body work he does on me is amazing and keeps me coming back. The price is very reasonable for the quality of life it provides me. I've been seeing Eric. He has a very grounding energy, which is highly valuable in body work. He's kind,gentle but strong, intuitive with his approach to the body, which is also key in this work. He's knowledgable but not a know it all. His openness to continual education is evident. He has definitely been helping me to regain mobility in my body, in places that have been frozen for years. Don't expect a lot of coddling or bed side nurturing talk. He's not that type of practioner. You NEED to be able to hold space for yourself, if you are experiencing big releases of emotion and trauma. He's good with the body and is authentically kind, but he's not the type of practitioner thats gonna hold your hand, and get in the proverbial mud with you. This works for me because I can hold space for myself. This is important. One must know what they need to help themselves heal, when choosing a practitioner. If there is anything lacking, I'd say it's that he doesn't really seem to have clear assessment protocol, or a treatment plan that he lays out for your body.( at least not with me.) With that said, if you're ok with intuition leading the way, then you'll do great with him. read more

I had no idea how fundamental fascia is. I've been slowly getting more and more injury prone and with posture just sort of degenerating as I get farther north of 40 and spend more hours sitting in office chairs. I also had idiosyncratic scoliosis. This place is AMAZING! I've seen two of the therapists (b/c scheduling - both are awesome), and every session is transformative. Admittedly, pretty intense - opening up is not known to be pain free. But is a good pain and the therapists are constantly aware of and asking me about how "hard" I want to go. I've have had several "I'm just burned out" sessions where the treatment is gentle. And both have had the "magic touch", their fingers following tense muscles to their attachments, and onto to other muscles and joints until they find the "source. Finally, they also offer lifestyle advice (if asked) about exercises to do at home to, for example, address a really tight psoas muscle. Can't recommend enough nor emphasize too much how much life, emotion, trauma is stored in fascia and how it makes you a new person to let it go. read more

Time with Tana is a gift. When I'm struggling with a dysregulated nervous system, chronic pain condition, severe adrenal fatigue, and now mold illness, feeling at ease in my body is far from easy. Most worked on my body, doing things to me, rather than working with my body and with me. I highly recommended The Myofascial Release Center. I have been having foot pain since November 2021 and was frustrated by not finding relief. I asked a friend who I know had sports injuries. She recommended I look into The Myofascial Release center? I had never heard of it and it was so close to my work and home. She highly recommended Trevor! It was super easy to book an appointment online on a day that worked for me. I love having massages and always feel relaxed but never felt relief of my aches and pains. I've been seeing Tana Gaudi for about a year now and she has been absolutely integral to my healing on so many levels! I HIGHLY recommend her and MFR Center for anyone who's in pain and desperate to feel better!! I started seeing her due to chronic lower back and pelvic pain and to assist with emotional trauma release. With her, I've learned that I have an anterior pelvic tilt that's developed over the years from bad posture and sitting at a work desk all day, leading to issues with my psoas, piriformis, anterior superior iliac spine, quad and glute muscles, causing compression and stiffness/pain in the back, hip flexors, and other muscle group/joint areas. She's also helping me break up the fibrous scarring and adhesions from my c-section that was contributing to the pelvic pain (seriously, if you get a c-section don't put off MFR/PT to help your ab and pelvic muscles/tissues heal well!!!). She's taught me so much about my body, from the names and locations of muscles and tendons and how they function/dysfunction, where different types of emotions might get stuck and manifest problems, stretches and exercises that can be done at home or work without any fancy props (although they do have stuff to purchase if needed-- their plastic balls are great for trigger points!), and she even gives me a "prescription" at the end of our sessions, a.k.a. a bullet-pointed list of important info we discussed and other recommendations that I can follow up on. She's truly a wealth of info, and she still attends various seminars and trainings throughout the year to further her therapy practice. She's firm yet gentle with her hands, and I've gone from barely being able to lay down and sit up on my own or turning over without excruciating pain, to having much better freedom of movement with hardly any pain or stiffness. I've come such a long way in the time I've been seeing her; I know I still have more to do to become completely free of pain, but she's taken me farther than anyone else, including a spine physician and chiropractic doctor I was previously seeing. The rooms at MFR Center are private, comfortable and gently lit, the massage tables cushy with the option of heat and pillows. She puts on some quiet, relaxing music in the background and we get to work. I've laughed, cried, and expressed everything in-between; with Tana it's a no-judgement zone built on a foundation of professionalism. She truly cares so deeply for her clients and their wellbeing and is always down-to-earth and supportive of your needs. I haven't worked with the other therapists at the office but have seen them in passing, and everyone has always been friendly and kind. A mask isn't required, but Tana is supportive of my desire to wear one and will also wear one during our visits, which I respect and appreciate especially during the COVID pandemic. There's free parking on the street in front of the building, but be sure to curb your wheels correctly, otherwise you're guaranteed to get a parking ticket. Her prices are extremely fair, she's responsive with texts and follows up after appts to make sure I'm doing ok, and I've rarely had any issue with scheduling her in a time slot that works best for me (I see her on the weekends).
