This was a very cool store set amid all the boutiques in Mystic. It's a nice change of pace from one bougie Knick knack store after another. I loved the selection inside and ended up purchasing a vintage blazer and button up at VERY reasonable prices. They have a combination of true antique pieces and newly made replica pieces. The Army Navy Store is a pretty unique shopping experience. Here you may find all types of army gear, uniform, boots, pins, hats, protective hats and more. They also have some baby dresses and outfits, and things that are more costume. This store has been here for 30 years. It unfortunately has a bit of that "been here a long time" type of odor. I went here in hopes of finding an authentic, weather proof American flag, to put on my currently bare flag pole in front of my home. The young man I spoke to seemed to be very informed on the subject. I told him the approximate height of the pole, and he immediately pulled out a flag, that seemed to fit the bill. He explained the quality of the material is designed to withstand the harshest of winds. Also the way the stitching is done, is made to last through whatever blows and comes its way. Naturally this flag is made in America. It was $55.99 and was not taxable. My friend got the Connecticut flag, also from the same maker. I was very pleased with my shopping experience at The Army Navy Store. I will be putting up my brand new flag as soon as the winter's snow is over. read more

Really polite staff and great support for veterans but every last thing inside the store is made in China which was very disappointing. The selection of things is huge but the quality and value of them is very low. read more

Mike and I stopped in here while visiting the area. They have a great selection of current military clothing. They also had things for children and camouflage type things in different colors. I was interested in the dog tag machine which is so old. They still make dog tags there. I kind of wanted to see more of the old stuff and I really didn't see anything that I wanted to buy. The prices are really expensive I thought. They had a Gilly suit in adult and children sizes and I was interested in the story behind that. I am glad that they included the history of it. read more

Came to Mystic for a day to visit this beautiful town. Was shopping and came along this Army Navy store. I walked in to browse around. The gentleman behind the counter gave me a warm friendly greeting. There was a lot of merchandise to choose from. I came along some Navy hats and I thought of my friend Bill who was in the Navy when he was younger. So I text him some pics and he choose one and was delighted. Of course I purchased it and I told the gentlemen behind the counter who it was for and I could see he was pleased. I just had a good feeling being in this store, sort of patriotic. I always remind myself the reason I can live in freedom and safety is because of our brave members of the military protecting us in our wonderful country. When you look at other parts of the world you can see the difference. So for the selection of merchandise, reasonable prices and a warm friendly feeling from the staff and the customers which created an inviting atmosphere I give this store 5 Stars. read more

Cool stuff at cool prices The Mystic Army Navy Stores has been here for around 20 years and really hasn't changed much. Many of these army surplus type places tend to morph into higher priced and fashion oriented stores but fortunately this store still puts the emphasis on cheap and cool merchandise. The store is small and the aisles are cluttered with all sorts of stuff so you have to squeeze through in places and take care something doesn't bounce off your head. The front of the store always has various jackets, hats, ammo boxes and other sundry crap hanging around so people have to step over or around them. Makes navigating a bit difficult but also makes poking around lots of fun. This is the type of store that is always changing but the basic idea is the same, lots of outdoor, cold weather and survival type stuff. Jammed into the store are boots, jackets, gloves, hats, knives, tents, stoves, sleeping bags, flash lights, compasses and lots of crummy t-shirts. They also have some cool books, maps and posters and I've found the old artillery cases and old ammo boxes quite useful for all sort of things. They also have a section for kids and women. Great if you happen to know someone who wants a camouflaged bikini or lingerie. The prices in the store vary a lot, some of the stuff can be quite expensive but much of it is dirt cheap. Sure, you won't find fancy brand names or the latest fashions but you will find lots of cool, strange and useful stuff that will last a long time. And that never goes out of style. read more

Very nice people, only talked to them over the phone but there were very helpful and polite.

This place has some pretty cool stuff but the lazy girl at the register could not be bothered with helping people. She was on the phone the entire time we were in the store (9/4/2015 @ 11ish) and did not acknowledge anyone in the store. Word of advice, not all of us are tourists so try not to act like a bunch of pricks. read more

My husband has taken us into such stores all over the Midwest. This store is hands down the cleanest, most well organized one ever -- guest friendly to the max. Worth a stop in even if you aren't with an military vet. read more

Whether you're in the market for something more functional and sturdy, a memento of your time in mystic, or stylish (military chic, anyone?), the staff are helpful and can recommend what might work best for you. I had been to this store once before and they were very friendly and helpful....I am getting ready to march in the 2017 Washington DC Memorial Day parade and needed camo pants the same color as I had in desert storm... Michele and her crew were very professional and prompt with email and when I showed up to get them they made sure everything fit properly.... hands down the best army navy store I have been in so far and would recommend them highly.... I will definitely be back and won't hesitate to call or email if I need something. read more

I would like to preface my review by stating that I understand that this store has been in Mystic for a long time and that my husband frequents this store. With that said, I recently accompanied him and asked (or begged) politely to use the restroom (I'm pregnant). They refused to let me go and instead directed me to walk to the public facilities (which were not close - especially for someone in their third trimester - and it was raining). I understand that local businesses cannot offer their facilities as public restrooms, but as someone who has worked in retail in the past, I also know that exceptions can be made and I feel strongly that they should be made for a desperate pregnant lady who simply had to pee. The gentleman that I spoke to was not only rude and unreasonable but he also certainly didn't give us the respect that I would hope to get as a regular customer (it's not like we haven't spent money there over the years and were just tourists looking for a bathroom). After this experience (and as I mentioned before we have frequented this store for years) my views of the staff have changed and I would not recommend this store moving forward (unless they decide to act more polite and empathetic). read more

i went into the store sat nite no one was there except two young men behind the counter i picked out a small lapel pin i was asked if i had my dd214 who carries one 47 years later? i showed him my military veterans id he then asked me to complete a form all this for a pin that shows i served in viet nam at this point i felt this was not necessary and saw no reason as this pin can be bought on line so i left without the pin and will never go back great way to treat a veteran read more
