I love the REI in Garden City. Every employee, literally everyone, is so kind and helpful. They are…read morewilling to go the extra mile and never seem "bothered". REI has great outdoor brands and a decent selection. Prices range and things can be on the higher-end but it's no more expensive than the manufactures sites. I also appreciate that as a member I get perks like cash back, extended returns, etc.

Still five stars. We came in looking for a number of things. Kind of a scouting mission. REI has…read moreplenty to offer for hiking, camping, biking, kayaking, and more. We are looking for, among other things, a smaller tent (ours is huge) that we can easily lug around with us and REI has a large selection. We signed up for their membership several years ago. Just tell them your phone number when making a purchase and you get credit for the purchase. We picked up a UV protective t-shirt as a gift for someone. It was reasonably priced imho, very soft and moisture wicking. Brilliant. I should probably get myself one too. BTW, the company no longer offers bags. None. So bring a reusable bag if you plan to shop here. It's just another way to reduce waste and be a good steward. Some of the prices can be high, but not everything. They sell Patagonia which is an expensive brand, as well as other, more moderately priced items. You just have to know what you want and what you are willing to pay. If you check out the bulletin board upstairs, they offer guided excursions that look really fun. I check out their selection of hiking poles as I am looking to buy some. Everything from really reasonable basic models to foldable, light weight pricey models. So you have options. They have pet items. Personal care items. Clothes and shoes are upstairs. So many types of water bottles. Camping items for both the thru-hiker and the car-camper. Check them out. They are a good resource and the staff are friendly and happy to assist.

Ok, this is Walmart, so why right a review? This is a place…read morethat's trying to be everything and succeeding at some, and totally failing at other parts. As a department store, it would get 4 stars. Good selections, prices are good, shelves are stocked, and selection is above average The pharmacy would get 5 stars. Very friendly and helpful. Prices a really great. We have to get medication for our dogs, and compared to the other pharmacies in town, we are getting the meds at almost 40% lower here, than at the chain pharmacies. Supermarket section: this would get 0 stars if I could. The produce section is a joke. I've seen better looking veggies at a food bank. Rusty looking lettuces and bagged salads, squash with pucks, dents, and soft spots. Tomatoes that are really soft. Many times shelves are not filled, to the point that you could reduce space by 30%. We did try the meat once, and that is the last time we will buy it. We don't buy milk there anymore because it seems to go bad 2 to 4 days before the expiration date. I'd like to take the temperature of the dairy case because it doesn't feel like it is set to the proper temperature, thus causing it to spoil early. Overall the prices are the same, if not more for certain items, than the other 2 supermarkets in town. As a department store, the place is good, great as a pharmacy, but a total disaster as a supermarket.

This Walmart is my go-to store, and I shop here several times a week. I am a regular, paying…read morecustomer, and I have never been given a reason to believe that my behavior should be considered suspicious. However, during my last three or four visits, I have felt as though I was being followed or closely monitored by asset protection or individuals I now understand may have been secret shoppers. I was not aware that the person involved in the most recent incident was an employee, and the situation became so uncomfortable and unsettling that I genuinely believed something more serious or sinister might be happening. I was shopping alone with my baby, and because I did not know the person was an employee, I felt unsafe and began thinking about whether I would need to ask someone to walk me to my car or contact someone outside the store for help. Being constantly stared at and followed made me feel as though my baby and I were potentially in an unsafe situation, and I felt like we needed to get out of the store as quickly as possible. It was only afterward, after discussing the incident with my husband and putting the pieces together, that I realized the person was likely a secret shopper or part of asset protection. I understand that Walmart may have legitimate reasons and good intentions behind having asset protection and secret shoppers, and I fully understand the importance of preventing theft. However, there is a significant difference between discreetly monitoring a customer and making a regular, innocent customer feel followed, watched, or targeted. I have personally seen genuinely suspicious behavior while shopping, which makes it especially frustrating and confusing to feel that I am the person being treated suspiciously when I am simply there to shop and make purchases. This experience has been extremely disappointing and has made me uncomfortable returning to a store that I have considered my go-to Walmart. Customers should be able to shop without feeling intimidated or unsafe, especially when they have done nothing to warrant that kind of attention. I hope Walmart will take this concern seriously and consider how asset protection practices are being carried out, particularly when dealing with regular customers who have given no indication of suspicious behavior. I should not have to worry about being followed or feeling unsafe simply because I am shopping with my baby, and I do not want another customer to experience the same level of fear and discomfort that I experienced.
