This place is absolute 5-. Was traveling and asked what on the menu would be similar to Filet Mignon Oscar, or Filet Mignon Chesapeake. Nicholas, the waiter, was outstanding with recommendation and kindness. The food was outstanding, but Nicholas going the extra mile to take care of us after a long day of travel topped it off. This place could stand on its own in any large metro, and I was surprised at the quality and service for Joplin where we usually have to lower our standards compared to other cities we have lived in. If you're looking for excellent food, great atmosphere, and a truly delightful dining experience this is the place. My Husband and I are regulars because we know the food will be delicious, the atmosphere is dimly lit and quiet so we can actually have a conversation, and above all we are NEVER rushed. This is the one restaurant in Joplin where we don't have to worry that our food will arrive on top of our salads. Our entire dinner is perfectly timed. Then it's a bonus when George the owner comes out to chat. Even if you don't like Greek there is something on the menu for you so don't hesitate to dine here! The popular appetizer is 'flaming cheese' as our Granddaughter calls it, but my favorite is the spicy feta dip. I order one to eat and one to go for breakfast the next day. :-) read more

Everything has always been good here including takeout. Lunch prices are reasonable especially given the food quality. Dinner prices are high, but again the quality matches. Favorites include the Spicy Feta Dip, Tour of Mythos, and the Gyro Platter. Service is always good too, they never seem short-staffed or stressed. This is on our list of go-to places for business lunches, special occasions, and out of town visitors. read more

What a gem of a restaurant! The food was absolutely amazing, we had the spicy feta and hummus to start. Both were very good, but the pitas for each were phenomenal! They came out super warm and it was a huge portion for each. We also got the filet, which was cooked to medium perfection, melted in our mouths. Large wine and cocktail selection, the margarita was great. The crème brûlée was a perfect end to the meal, very light and delicious! At the top of list was our server Haven, who was sweet as can be and delivered above and beyond service. We could not believe how few people there were in here on a Friday night, as the ambiance is great with even better food and service. We will definitely be making it a tradition to stop here on our semi annual visits to Joplin. Not enough wonderful things to say about this fabulous restaurant! read more

Great experience! We were driving through on a trip, and I looked on Yelp for restaurants with gluten-free options. Aside from fast-food chains, this is the only restaurant that popped up on my gf app. When I looked on Yelp, Mythos had great reviews. The inside was fancier than I expected, but the food was delicious and the gluten-free items were clearly marked. Our party of three ordered: tour of Mythos, chicken Parmesan, and a hamburger. All three orders came out the way we ordered them, and the food was hot. The server offered fresh ground pepper, and she stopped by several times to refill our drinks. We had leftovers- the portions were large. If we are ever in Joplin again, we will stop here for a yummy meal. read more

This is one of the best Dinner spots for a fine ethnic meal in the region, we drive up from Tulsa for a meal. The dinning room is spacious and comfortable, the selections always fresh and the service spot on. You will not be disappointed, give it a try and you will be hooked. Everything we have tried so far has been exemplary samples of some of the best, most flavorful dishes of this type available in the Oklahoma, Missouri and Kansas areas. Came with a group of work associates. Ordered a cocktail, rum and coke with lime, no lime. Over an hour to get my Gyros Platter. I have had much better from a food truck. Large portions but dry as beef jersey and virtually no vegetables to speak of. The potato wedges were equally dry and inedible. It is large dollop of feta cheese, cream cheese, pepperoncini peppers, served with crispy toasted pita bread. It is spicy and tasty, excellent! Very rich! It is enough for 4-6 people. One of the soups of the day was jalapeno potato bisque. A very good and filling soup with an ample amount of spice (heat). I had to try the Lobster Club. It is lobster meat, peppered pancetta, herb roasted tomatoes, onions & red pepper mayonnaise on wheat toast. The lobster pieces on the sandwich were a little strong tasting (fishy). It is extremely rich with the grilled onions and red pepper mayonnaise. I could only eat about half of the sandwich. I can't recommend it. The other meal was House Greek Salad served with the Mythos house dressing and Gyro meat. The Mythos house dressing just didn't work with the salad. Too heavy. It was not the light tasty olive oil and lemon Greek dressing that you would expect to get with a Greek salad. Overall if you are looking for light/healthy Mediterranean dining this place might not work for you. But, the food is good (just a richer/ heavier version than your typical Greek). We went here in June - without of town family and it did not disappoint. We ordered a ton of appetizers and the four of us shared. We drive over an hour to visit Mythos each month. One of our favorite places and definitely the best Greek food in SW Missouri! Excellent. Really enjoyed the fine dining experience. We arrived minutes after opening on a Monday as we were driving through and looking for a quality meal. My husband splurged on the filet and prawn. I had the Tour of Mythos. Tons of food! We tried both soups and Caesar salad which were excellent. Appetizer: crab cakes delicious! Supper was a special menu. Husband got de constructed lobster Wellington. He loved it. It came with 4 tails and mashed potatoes. Also a salad. Let me just say, that for a small town like Joplin, to have a quality restaurant that you would see in big metro cities should say something. First and foremost, I instantly knew it was going to be good food when I saw what care they took with just how they presented a curb-side pick up meal. The chef was able to make my meal still presentable on the go... That takes thought and care... They didn't just slap it in a box and throw it at me, as a matter of fact the chef himself personally delivered it out to my vehicle. It's obvious he took great pride in it, which he should because the dinner was great! The pairing of the filet medallions with the risotto was on point. The roasted onion soubise packed a perfect base for this meal with the charred tomatoes giving just that little bit of acidity to couple the flavors together. The Champignon fillet was perfectly cooked as ordered, the only slight miss for me was the crab and lobster stuffed portabella, SIMPLY because of the seafood element not because it tasted bad or anything. It can just limit people ordering this menu item because of possible allergies. The red pepper butter sauce reduction was AMAZING and paired extremely well with the fingerling potatoes. It was sublime! Last but not least, the vegetarian option which is such a welcome addition to any menu when you have alternative option minded people looking for great food... The potato gnocchi was sublime! Perfectly done, and paired well with the veggies. The only thing as a personal thing I didn't like was the broccoli, BUT it was steamed to a perfection. All the vegetables were right on the money in texture and taste. Once again, the gnocchi: SUBLIME! The chef should be very proud, I am not a local, but I will DEFINITELY be back to try the other menu options knowing that I will not be getting a sub-par meal. In Joplin for the weekend. We had no idea when we chose the Greek restaurant that we would also be finding the only certified Angus steak restaurant in the area. We started with the Tour of Mythos appetizer platter (including two shots of blue Ouzo. Everything was delicious. The Dolmas were surprisingly light and airy. I had the Blackberry Filet, which was cooked a perfect medium rare, and my husband had the Wild Mushroom Chicken Penne which was served in a rich sauce with surprising depth of flavor. We were so impressed by the entire experience we decided we had to go back the next night just to try different menu items, as there's no telling when we might be back in Joplin ever again. Last night we started with the crab cake appetizer, which has to rate among the best crabcakes we've ever eaten. For entrées, I chose the Crab Crusted Salmon with white truffle asparagus risotto. My husband chose the Pepper Grilled Rib-Eye with blue cheese and caramelized onions and grilled portobellos. Once again the steak was cooked a perfect medium rare, and the risotto was divine. For dessert we had the strawberry shortcake, which they are deservedly proud of. On the whole, four excellent meals. I don't know when or if we will ever be in Joplin, Missouri again, but if we are will definitely be returning. read more

The food and service was amazing! The crab cakes, the filet, the habanero ahi tuna, the ancient grains, the Greek salad and the chocolate lava all come highly recommended. We were there for my granny & gpa's 63rd wedding anniversary - the music, the atmosphere and our server Brittany - were all top notch!
