I have a client that told me to come and try out this spot. The inside was very casual looking and clean. The hostess greeted us nicely. It wasn't too busy, our waitress took us to a table. There were 5 of us. Menu was very simple and easy to read through. They have open kitchen, so you can see the cooks working it up in the kitchen. There are different variety of gyros and shrawma that they have. I usually order a either of it. So it's surprising to see more different one! I stick with the basic gyro and my daughter got the Philly cheese steak gyro and the beef shrawma dinner plates. We also order some appetizer and dessert. Food tastes very fresh and good. This was my second visit to Crave Mediterranean Cafe on Republic Road. Overall, it's a solid fast-casual experience -- not fine dining, but that's clearly not what they're aiming for. We spent about $40 for two people and had table service, which was a nice touch. Our waitress was very friendly and had a great attitude, though it seemed like she might have been having an off night as there were a few small mistakes along the way. The food was good across the board -- nothing bad at all, just not especially memorable. The space itself is a plus: larger dining room, comfortable seating, and a nice place to sit and enjoy a meal. If you're comparing Mediterranean options in Springfield, I'd probably give the edge on food to Greek Belly, but Crave offers a more spacious and relaxed dine-in atmosphere. Crave Mediterranean is in the shopping center on Republic Rd directly across from Mama Jean's Natural Grocery. The dining area has plenty of tables as well as booths. We were a party of 3. At our table we all ordered bowls. Lamb bowl. Chicken bowl. Shawarma Chicken bowl. Two of us selected the tzatziki sauce and my mom tried the tahini sauce. My mom loved the food but the sauces were not to her liking. Me and my sister most definitely enjoyed both. The food was magnificent. I ordered the strawberry lemonade and it is huge. It's yummy and HUGE. If you haven't been yet I definitely recommend Crave, it's so good. The meal was filling so my mom ordered a yummy baklava slice to go. read more

Great spot. Service was stellar and so was food. I tried the mint lemonade which came out in an Okterfest-sized stein. It was light on the mint so it was perfect for me. You can get the sandwiches as a wrap so I opted for the hummus and falafel one. It was most excellent. The wrap also had seasoned fries in it. !! The lunch entrees also come with soup or salad. I loved the dressing on the salad. I got a side of saffron rice with my wrap which was delicious. I have never tried halva so I ordered one for dessert. It was delicious but super rich. It was drizzled with chocolate sauce. Having not ever tried it before, I would describe it as a crumbly sesame fudge. It was great but I only could finish half of it. The server asked if I wanted a refill (one is free on the lemonades) and I asked if I could get it to go. He brought out a quart sized food-service container and had poked a hole in the lid for a straw. So sweet but this drink was too big to fit into my cup holders. Still, it's the thought that counts. Crave Mediterranean is one of those places that keeps you coming back for the food alone. The Chicken Shawarma wrap? Yes, please. The platter is good too, but my favorite is the wrap. Great flavor and I like the pickles that they include. Pair it with their garlic sauce and hummus appetizers and you're set. The dill sauce is also a winner. And let's not forget about the rice and Greek salad. They're both great additions to the meal. Thirsty? Grab a mint lemonade on the rocks. So refreshing AND they give you free refills! Can't go wrong here. Now onto logistics. The staff are generally friendly, but the efficiency isn't quite on par. They tend to take orders at multiple tables before turning them in all at once, which means you might be waiting quite a while for your food to be delivered. Each time we've been so far, we've had to wait a while for the food. And if you're thinking of ordering through Door Dash, prepare to exercise some patience. When I ordered my food for delivery, it took over an hour and a half just for my food to be ready to pick up. I had to call multiple times and got different wait times on each call. It was really frustrating. If you aren't in a hurry and don't mind waiting a bit, give it a shot. Clean restaurant, well-stocked restrooms, great options for your meal. My wife and I were traveling through and she was in the mood for Mediterranean food. Did a quick search and found this not too far from our exit. We almost went somewhere else just because the outside didn't match my expectations. Glad we decided to walk in! The food was really good. We had hit the hangry stage so we ordered the Hummus as an appetizer. It was fabulous. We did the half hummus and half something else. Can't remember. Sorry. Anyway, the other part had a great Smokey flavor with a little dab of spicy sauce. Just a great combination. I ordered the Gyros sandwich with lamb. It was spot on. I said we'd go back, and we did! The salads were just as fresh as last time. This time, we got the tzatziki appetizer because we loved the tzatziki that came with it food when we were here last. My son had the beef shawarma wrap and said every bite just melted in his mouth. I wanted the tikka kabob wrap, but accidentally ordered the platter - which was also delicious! Friday night was my 3rd time coming here...it was also my first time walking out of a restaurant after seeing the new price increases (which explains why this place was so dead on a Friday night)! I understand prices are going up everywhere, but this restaurant jumped the gun, and grossly increased the prices by a greedy amount. The meal for two for example use to be $50 not that long ago, and now that they've increased the price by 30%, it's $65! Their basic sandwiches & fries are $17+ ...No thanks! I can go to PLENTY of other restaurants in town and get more food and better quality food for that price, which is exactly what we did once we sat down & saw the prices last night; we immediately left before ordering, and we went to a different restaurant, and got meals with way more food for $15 each. read more

Great food. HORRIBLE Service! Their kitchen is always backed up. ALWAYS! I called in at 4:05 and asked if they would be able to have an order ready for pickup at 4:45 (4 bowls and a flatbread). They guaranteed that would not be a problem. Showed up at 4:50 and food wasn't ready. It is now 5pm and my food is still 10 minutes away from being done. hands down worst place I've ever picked up from/ received service from. I can't speak on the food other than the lady in line comparing it to mediterranean chipotle but I waited about 35 minutes for a food delivery. I think the worst part was the food was ready but the staff spent the entire time arguing over who should bag the order meanwhile my customer waited 35 minutes for food they never did receiver. I've picked up from split of places before. this was the worst oen. I checked in with the same person 7 different times each time giving the name of the order. either there is no one else available for hire or this is the best lineup. understandable one person was still in training but I've never seen employees openly refuse baging a food delivery order. ideally i plan to report this to uber as it wasn't fair to the customer waiting 35 minutes for a food order that was ready 25 minutes ago but the staff refused to bag the order. I understand having 8 tables is tough but if you can't assist your clients you shouldn't be open. read more

I only sat in one time and it took 30 minutes for an appetizer to come out and they never came back to get the food order so I just took the appetizer to go and left. Then I started DoorDashing it. Said a 25 minute wait no worries, it's always taken 40 plus minutes. So now I wait 40 minutes to show up, I see my order in the front. It took over 10 minutes to simply give me the food. The food was very good, but the service was almost comically poor. We waited for 10 minutes before anyone offered us water, and none of the servers seemed to have any idea whose table it was. This resulted in our food going to the wrong table and then just being plopped in front of us by whomever had the time. I was hoping for a good Mediterranean restaurant in this town since That Lebanese Place and Greek Belly miss the mark. It's been a long time since had real good Mediterranean food since left Detroit area back in '08. And there is a plethora of places in Dearborn (oh La Shish how i miss thee.) And Greek town in downtown Detroit. Ok the service is a little slow. They could hire another waiter/waitress. Wow! I forgot what real hummus and nice warm pita taste like. Delicious. The main dish could stood to be a little warmer but was good. My parents enjoyed theirs as well. Mom and dad liked their desserts as well. Don't know how my mother can stand rice pudding. One problem was as I was watching a table near us had the flaming cheese. They lit it in the back then brought it out. We don't eat as much Mediterranean as we want or should so we finally got around to trying the Mediterranean Cafe. My wife was told that it was about a 20 minute wait & casual when she called. We entered the relatively crowded waiting area consisting of those seeking tables or take-out orders, proceeding to give our names to the concierge/cashier/waitress - and every waitress played all these roles as needed. After the 20 plus minutes, we were seated by an extremely affable young lady named LeAnne. The dining room was pleasant if a bit spartan. The few TVs displayed mostly menu items with names which was helpful in deciphering the extensive (but only two page) menu full of tantalizing items. Some nondescript posters dotted the walls as pleasant, soft international instrumental music played in the background LeAnne left us menus, giving us a few minutes to peruse these while fetching us waters. When she returned, we asked her for suggestions which she enthusiastically gave us: The Mediterranean Combination Appetizer to start with a choice of entrees. We stuck with the appetizer theme with the addition of a Spinach & Feta Manakeesh (basically a flatbread pizza without sauce). We told LeAnne that we would start with this and add as we went. Believe me, we were plenty sated after this. I am a bit conflicted about my rating because the authentic food was excellent but the service scene was a tad chaotic as it became apparent that there was no floor management. When I asked about the owners, LeAnne told me that the husband & wife team both work in the kitchen, thus explaining the wonderful food from the kitchen being delivered haphazardly out front. Don't get me wrong, the staff was doing the best they could (all with great attitudes) but needed a manager to coordinate efforts outside of the kitchen. Customers who are food-focused will love this restaurant. The staff was certainly engaged yet a bit overwhelmed at times as there was plenty of traffic in & out the entry area. I would love to have given MC a "great" rating but, in honest assessment, I could only rate it "good" but that is absolutely NO reflection on the food. read more
