Haven't been here in years. It was completely dead. Sat at a table and was told there was a big group coming in. Moved to another table and was told I couldn't sit there.. Ask where I could sit? And was directed to a tiny table and wobbly chair!! I understand if you have a big group coming "eventually" it's honestly a small place if it's that big of a group then close it down! Don't expect patrons to cater around you so you can make more money. Just because I wasn't spending hundreds doesn't mean you can treat me like a beggar... I think it was actually the owner too that was acting like people had to go to her establishment. Attitudes like this hurt local businesses. read more

We were in the area for the Pickwick Street Fair and stopped in here for lunch. SUCH a good decision! The place is adorable...several smaller rooms, covered in art, with tables as well as an outdoor patio area with a bubbling fountain. The employees are all friendly and helpful as well as attentive. I had the special: avocado lime chicken salad sandwich with potato salad and it was the best sandwich I've had in ages. So fresh and flavorful! Randy had the Turkey Gouda Panini with pesto aioli and it was also delicious! Our daughter arrives next week and we will definitely be taking her. What a great find! read more

I had driven from out of town to eat Mother's Day lunch here with my daughter. We waited 15 minutes before a hostess even talked to us. We finally got a table and nobody came to take our drink order. My daughter had to get up and go ask for a waitress to come to our table. When she came we asked to go ahead and order food since it had been 25 minutes at this point with nothing so she took our food order and left without taking the drink order. Once again my daughter had to get up and go find someone. We finally got our drinks and after being there 45 minutes the waitress came back and said she didn't know what had happened but our food order hadn't been put in and could we tell her again what we had ordered... at this point we told her we had been there an hour and were leaving. Horrible service, maybe the worst I have ever had at a lunch spot. This place is so cute that is is a shame the service is so terrible for customers. Even if you are short of help, which they never said they were, you would get customers their drink order while they waited. I normally only give restaurants great reviews and won't give bad ones because it could hurt their business, however; I think customers need to know to plan on spending lots of time if going here on a Saturday. read more

A really cute shop. The house iced tea is ambrosia. When I was told that it's not sold beyond dining in, my heart was broken. I'm not sure what it's made with, but perhaps orange and clove. I think the very best thing about this restaurant is the location. It can't be beat. I have been several times over the years and it is consistent. The food is nice. The servers are very nice, helpful and attentive. I usually order a salad or a wrap. They have an Asian salad that is just enough. It is spinach, asparagus, red pepper and chicken with Thai dressing. I have ordered several times. I had the salad today, and it was like always except instead of having two whole pieces of asparagus, it had one piece cut in half, and two strips of red pepper. My husband and I just love this place! When the weather is nice it is worth it to get a patio seat. I love the veggie pita and the Asian wrap. They have daily specials that are good as well. One of my favorite restaurants in Springfield. The patio is wonderful, and Friday night dinners are great. It's a little pricier than I normally care for at lunch time, but I make an exception here. My current favorites are the turkey gouda panini and the chilled mango strawberry soup. The chicken pot pies on Friday nights are so, so good, and you can bring your own wine for a small corkage fee (they don't serve any alcohol). They also serve falafel on Fridays, which I have yet to try, but I'm pretty sure it's the only place in Springfield to get falafel unless you make it at home. Edit: I have just been corrected and told that The Grotto and Grad School also serve falafel. I guess when I said Tea Bar is the only place in town, I meant the way falafel is normally served--in a pita, with tahini sauce and veggies. This place is absurdly adorable. I had lunch here with my family (Mom, Dad, Grandma, Aunt and the hubs) while I was in town for a visit, and was completely surprised by the location. You walk through a gate and courtyard to get into the lobby, and if you want to sit inside the server will lead you through a maze of adorable little tea rooms. They also have shaded tables in the courtyard of the building they share with other businesses. The food and tea are delightful. I ordered the house iced tea, which was probably the best restaurant iced tea I've ever had. Honestly. It had orange and cloves or some deliciousness in it that had me slurping down several glasses. I also ordered the sampler plate and chose (among many options) tuna salad, pesto pasta salad, asparagus soup and a scone. Just. Amazing. Hands down, the best tea bar in town. AND the best baked goods in the area! Stop by this cute cafe that used to be a house on a Saturday morning and enjoy their caramel rolls. Usual menu items include: quiche, chocolate ganache cupcakes, mediterranean couscous, peanut noodles, and tomato cognac bisque. Sounds amazing, right? Well it truly is as good as it sounds. Everything is made from scratch, they try to by local as much as possible, and there is always a vegetarian option. Just last week I had their special, a Caprese Sandwich on Ciabatta bread and this is seriously the best vegetarian sandwich I've had in the States. No contest. If you are looking for an oasis to catch up with new or old friends and enjoy a little brunch or snack or something sweet, it's pretty difficult to find a better place than Tea Bar and Bites. Honestly, the place feels like a courtyard in Southern France or Northern Italy, and inside the cozy atmosphere is just as much like something out of old Europe. The $5 oatmeal and the lack of a basic non-sugar mix black chai option make it a little less than perfect, but come on. Where else can you get this unbearable atmosphere and the excellent, scrumptious, goat cheese and rosemary scones? You're not going to find it.
