They let us sample the honey boba and the golden boba since I could not decide which one I would like more. The golden was chewy and the honey boba was sweeter to me so I ended up with the golden boba. Taro was fresh and the taro tofu pudding was my favorite! This is a wonderful boba shop conveniently located in the Texas Medical Center. It's a great stop for afternoon tea whenever you find yourself nearby. I've visited on several afternoons when I find myself with a boba craving. You can place your order online or in-store on a giant tablet. The servers are very quick and have always called out my name within a few minutes of ordering. The storefront is pretty small and has a couple seats but has more of a stop-and-go atmosphere. The best part of this tea shop is the cheese foam - a unique offering that is so tasty! Moge Tea TMC is a little hard to get to cause there's no real parking!! They are located right next to the hotel so pulling over is a bit hard during check-in and check-out hours. The drinks are made to order and I like they have so many options for toppings! Taro paste, red bean, boba.. love love love! The drinks are also made with freshly brewed tea! The only downside is that the drinks are inconsistent. I've ordered the same one multiple times and the sweetness differs every time. Most of the customers are employees in the Texas Medical Center or folks visiting the medical center. The drinks and boba are consistent and delicious. The brown sugar boba is especially good and would recommend reducing the sugar percentage of the drink if add brown sugar boba since it's sweetened. There are a few Kung Fu Teas not too far away and a truly amazing Purple Kow up in Rice Village, but nothing as delicious or world class as Moge within walking distance of these hospitals. Major downsides though. There is nowhere to sit in here. And there are no outlets. At all. So I can't bring my old laptop and do my Yelp reviews here, or anything else. Very disappointing, since this location is one of the closest Boba shops to my house, and one of the best. I hope they'll put a nice long power strip in here and 4-5 tables. They clearly have the space, and it's within walking distance of one of the South's best Universities (Rice) which has lots of Boba drinkers, so it needs the tables, believe me. And the outlets. The other major downside is that you can't order from a person. And that just sucks. Yes we live in a COVID world, but you can still order in person from 99% of Houston Boba shops. The other Moge locations offer the option of in person or on screen ordering. Often, there'll be weird specs and questions you don't think of until you're mid-order... forget about all that. The staff are really nice and friendly and the girl that gave me the drink was super-cute and personable, and discussed the Boba shop with me and how busy it's been, she was awesome. On the sleek digital ordering kiosk, I chose a taro milk tea with boba at 30% sweetness and 50% ice to compare with its Chinatown counterpart and other boba stores in the Houston area. Prepared freshly, the team took just 5 minutes to whip together my drink, which was still warm to touch at the cup's bottom from the tapioca pearls. The sugar level was perfect for me and there was a substantial amount of fresh taro puree, though after I walked outside in the summer heat and the warm/cold parts of my drink equilibrated, I regretted not getting more ice to keep the drink chilly. I ordered the medium crème brûlée milk tea with boba (~$5.50). Also, I found lemon seeds in my drink and I don't believe my drink should have any lemon in it..... There's not really parking here, so either taking the light rail or just walking here is probably best. You order at a kiosk when you walk in and they're pretty quick about getting the orders out. Back to the drink, the boba was way too soft and the drink was way too sweet despite me ordering it at 30% sweetness. The creaminess is alright. Toppings are 65 cents and above which is kinda pricey but maybe it's the location. Would not really come back unless you're actually craving boba and this happens to be the only boba near you. They open at 11am. We ordered the cheese foam daohongpao and cheese foam osmanthus, both are great: refreshing, creamy but not too milky, the sweetness level is just right. I ordered their popular Taro Tofu Pudding drink that's heavily promoted. The drink did not taste like taro at all. I used the Snackpass app to order and received an email confirmation with my receipt and a note at the bottom indicating to call them if there were any problems with the order and that they would fix it right away. I called and spoke with the employee that made my drink. She claims that she was scooping the last bit of taro as there wasn't much left and they ran out. This is unfair and unsatisfactory for their practice to charge full price for a product for something missing and of poor quality. She was aloof, unapologetic and failed to make things right as a customer service gesture. When I asked why would I get this email if they aren't able to comply with it. She responded that she's unfamiliar with the email. I offered to share it with her and suggested ways to compensate for the unsatisfactory drink such as a discount, drink replacement etc. She was disinterested and unable to comply. If the ingredient has run out, this should be communicated in advance to a customer so one can make a decision to proceed or order something else. Thought I'd do the right thing and give them a chance to offer fair compensation for my time to call it in and my poor experience over a conversation instead of leaving a negative and candid review, but she was unempathetic.
