Edit: Individual called shortly after this post angry over review. I stated we had agreed upon an estimate. He stated that he thought he was using my material which is untrue. I have three tab shingles but prior to him leaving we agreed upon architectural shingles that would match the house. I offered the roofing paper I had purchased. He declined stated he would have his man bring his own. Thus it was quite clear they would be suppying all materials. Standard Roofing also implied I should have known about the cost because of YouTube. Really??? YouTube qualifies one to be a Roofer and Roofing rep? I guess we home owners can save thousands by watching a few 10 minutes videos. One star removed for unprofessional behavior. Definitely can not recommend. The below response by Standard Roofing is simple damage control due to a bad estimate they obviously will not honor. Sir my skills are advanced handyman and I also put the roof of that shed which your man complimented. As for materials AGAIN to be clear the individual was quite clear on what was to done and how yet chose not to alter the estimate. As for the mateial you mention step flashing is less than a $1 a piece. This job requires only a few. Your man stated drip protection is not needed as he pointed out Standard Roofing put none on our house. Architectural shingles only cost $44/bundle. So yes I know what it costs and your $3500 quote holds no water besides the cost we home owners see is not the DISCOUNT you get so my adding it up is simply an attempt deflection and yet another untruth by Standard Roofing. Your man made a mistake. You could have easily corrected it by standing by your estimate. Let it go.

A crew of 3 workers arrived, along with the company owner. All three jobs were completed within 1.5 hours. The quality of work was excellent. The price for the job was also very good. When we finally heard back they said "oh, there's a finance charge for zero interest" 2) Pushed back the start date by nearly two weeks. When they finally showed up, they just hung out in our driveway for an entire afternoon and said "we'll start tomorrow" 3) Their crews are small and slow. Took a week to finish the siding for a one bedroom, 1100 square foot house. I'd guess it would take 2-3 weeks for a regular sizes home where most crews complete jobs for our sized home in 2 days, tops. 4) Didn't order enough product and had to come back two weeks later to finish it. Didn't cover the unfinished area and it rained a ton -- now hiring a company to come and inspect the work since it definitely will have moisture issues 5) Left a giant dumpster in our driveway for almost two weeks after the main job and cleanup was finished, and for a week after they finally completed the last small part. I called the dumpster company who hadn't heard from them, they were just lazy and irresponsible and left it there. Office manager refused to help me or provide any guidance on when a project would start, how long it would take, and when it would be completed. Barely speaks English so communication is very difficult. Claim to have been in business since 2004 but their site and reviews don't reflect that at all. Would not recommend as we were treated very poorly by these people despite spending $18,000 on siding for a 1100 sq ft house.

I made an appointment, and when I took the afternoon off to meet the appraiser, he was a no-show. When I called back, I was informed by the very nice office manager that my appointment had been lost because of the new scheduling software that had just been installed. OK, technical problems, I understand... not so thrilled to be out for the afternoon on a wild-goose chase, but fine. I rescheduled, and the co-owner was going to come himself and take a look. He showed up and was very personable; the job is pretty simple, so he was only there for about 10 minutes. Two days later I received a written estimate that was so ludicrous price-wise, I suspect HJ Holtz wanted to gold-plate my house. It was literally thousands of dollars more than any other bid I received. I wanted to do business with someone local to me, but unless you need gold plating and can't figure out what else to spend your vast piles of money on, look somewhere else.
