As the work progressed they constantly used a shop-vac to capture bits and pieces of the old flooring removal leaving the area to be replaced clean and dry in short order. Larger pieces were removed from the building as they were excavated from the concrete foundation. We were amazed that the work was accomplished so quickly and without dust or grit scattered in the work areas or the paths used to remove debris from the two work areas. The new flooring planks were cut and placed for an exact fit and when ready they were installed with little noise and no dramas. We were totally surprised how little time was needed to complete the project. Every last bit of debris was removed from the site at the completion and it felt more like magic than the difficult job that they completed in such a short time. I know, like you, I did not think they could get any worse..so so very wrong. I just lifted my couch to see that the safety gliders- you know the round things on the bottom of your couch used to protect your floors?- I now have FOUR HOLES in my floors where the gliders were. The floor has actually crumbled away completely in the exact shape of the protection gliders. It is clear and obvious that the overlay material the owner used must be incredibly cheap. We know dozens of families who all have concrete floors and not one of them has had the crumbling and chipping issues we have. Please, for your own sanity, use any other company- avoid this one at all costs. **** 1/20/2011 So a year later....we have lived with the floors for a while now. We are still having scuff issues but not as bad since we switched to a matte wax (per the owner's recommendation) as opposed to a high gloss. Still having major chipping issues, just found several more in my kitchen yesterday. The over all too dark, too reddish and splatter marks are for obvious reasons still the same so there isn't anything that can be done about that. Unfortunately, the samples he made us on 4x4 tiles were thrown away so I cannot include a picture of them for comparison. They were a medium tan color not reddish in the least. Which as you can see from the attached pictures, our floors are very RED- which we specifically asked to avoid....and they are very dark, which we specifically asked to avoid. You can also see from the attached pictures on my account page, it is pretty impossible to determine the finished color once the stain as been laid down but not yet blended. The problem with this is, the stain is already laid down so there isn't anything else you can do- you really have no idea what the end result is unless you do this as a living...which we don't. The owner responded that we lived 45 mins from town so that is why he was late every day. He would leave each day and tell us what time he would be back for the next day...our house wasn't moving overnight, not sure why he was still over an hour or more late every day. What time he arrived is pretty insignificant in the whole realm of things. Our issues are the overall color was nothing like the tan sample (and as he said, he can't really control that tho other contractors have said that is not true) and the fact that the floors are not holding up to normal wear and use. If one of my kids accidentally drops a fork it guarantees us yet another chip. It's so disappointing to pay a lot of money for floors but now have to constantly baby them.

My wife…read moreand I had to refinish an existing concrete slab whose original coatings from when we built (2007) had failed from the get-go, getting gummy and gross and melting anything made of rubber. Concrete polishing came into its own around 2009-2010 in the Austin area, and I really liked the option because it avoids coatings. Jason came highly recommended from a larger firm I knew about that focuses on commercial floors, and Jason helped us respectfully and honestly through the whole process, start to finish. Because it was the whole first floor of our house, we moved into a nearby HomeAway rental while Jason went to work. After a busy week of hard work, Jason delivered 1200 square feet of diamond-polished concrete on a slab that had never even been designed for such treatment. It has served us well for six years now and is by far the best floor surface I've ever lived on as far as durability, ease of cleaning, and day-in, day-out good looks. It's not a fancy floor, just a super-practical one that blends into the background when supported with nice rugs and furniture. The upfront cost, while not cheap, was comparable to laying hardwood, which would not be a practical choice on our main living floor. And the smooth, matte-finish, exposed aggregate we now have ought to last indefinitely. I recommend Jason and AllStar unhesitatingly. We love our diamond-polished slab concrete floor with the exposed aggregate and gentle luster.

Additionally, unlike others we've worked with where you don't know who is showing up on what day at what time, Clint's guys work consistent hours, for us they typically showed up at 8 and had cleaned up for the day by 5. As disruptive as a remodel can be it's a relief to have a little consistency. Another reason we've stuck with VanRossun is because unlike other contractors we've worked with or gotten bids from, Clint is a good open communicator about the budget. He's been great about sitting down with us and pricing things out, and then we can sort of trim from there to get what we really need out of our budget. Really happy with Clint and Isabel and their crew, and we plan on going back to them in the future.

They fixed issues that were happening while installing like bubbling from debris under LVP, stair nose trip hazard at the top of the staircase. They tossed white grout water out of the 2nd story window all over my black stucco. After 6 months tiles were loose in the master bathroom. Noah came to inspect and gave me a quote for $1200 to fix it. I'll stick with the other guys on the next one! Should have been the biggest red flag that they never did anything to earn my business and now are dismissive of me after they've been paid. Since we needed both new flooring and new countertops, we went to their showroom. I'm *really* glad we did. We ended up spending over ten thousand dollars and it was worth every penny. First, I loved all the selections that Designer Floors offered. Because of the layout of their store, I was able to see in bigger format how our carpet would match up with our other flooring, back splash and countertops. Second, Robert was super patient with me as I grilled him on everything they offered. He really had no problem with me going back and forth on a variety of options. He walked through them all and handled my questioning (read : pickiness) with professionalism, and I felt really confident about my choice by the end. I wanted to stay within a budget, but have really nice floors and countertops. We bought a house a few years ago and didn't install new flooring until the month before we sold it. This time, I wanted to do it right and *LIVE* in a house with beautiful flooring. I also needed the floors to withstand three kids and two big dogs. Lastly, install was great. Like even better than I expected. I was a little weary because we had an uneven foundation but when the installers came over they were able to level it back up. The first round was to lay carpet. Second round was to test our concrete before laying LVT flooring. Final round was LVT installation. While it was a fairly straightforward process, its still overwhelming when you first start out. Now that they were finished, our floors are awesome. We have a new kitchen island, with beautiful granite countertops. It looks amazing! A month later and I am giddy every time I come home and see my new house! Everything is sooo clean and easy to keep clean. I love that. Seriously, I can't say enough wonderful things about Designer Floors (and they sell countertops!!). They really made our remodeling experience so much easier and I am glad we used them.
