I couldn't be happier with the work that was done by Tyler and his crew at Austin Painting and Cabinets. We wanted to update our kitchen to be more modern and decided to 1) replace new countertops, 2) paint cabinets white, 3) install new backsplash and 4) paint interior. I didn't want to spent a lot of money and get brand new cabinets since mine are fairly new. Austin Painting and Cabinet specializes in painting your existing cabinets to look new. They did a really good job and far exceeded my expectation. The areas they excelled included * Price - The price was very reasonable for the quality of work you're getting. I compared countertop pricing with JL Cabinets. JL initial quote was 2K cheaper but that's just an estimated price before you select your countertop. After we decided on the countertop, JL ended up being 2K more expensive. Tylers price was similar even after selecting countertop, meaning Tyler initial estimate is based on higher quality countertop whereas JL low ball. * Quality - My cabinets had knotty holes to make it looks rustic. Tylers team had to fill all the holes and sand to smooth all the cabinet prior to painting. I was scared that painting would look cheap. However, these guys specialize in cabinet painting. Their work is high quality. The end result was much better than expected. The cabinet finish was as smooth as butter. There are definitely cheaper options out there but you pay for what you get. Anyone can paint, but what Austin Painting and Cabinet excel in is spending lots of time prepping to ensure the paint looks high end. In addition to cabinet work, we had the living area painted. They covered and taped up every inch of the house to ensure paint didn't spread anywhere. The attention to detail is unmatched which shows in their final work product. * Communication - Tyler responded to all text and kept me up to date on the project. The quality of the painting work itself was very good and I was happy with the final result. The crew was professional, the work was completed as expected, and up until the very end the experience felt positive. Unfortunately, the post-project payment process left a very bad impression. After the job was completed, I was told that final payment was required within 24 hours because of a clause on the completion form I signed at the end of the project. This requirement was never clearly communicated beforehand when we agreed to move forward with the work. In my experience, most contractors invoice with reasonable payment terms (for example a few days or a week), so being told after the work was finished that payment had to be made within 24 hours felt unexpected and unnecessarily confrontational. What was disappointing wasn't the payment itself -- I fully intended to pay -- but the tone and approach in the follow-up messages. It made the interaction feel more focused on collecting money immediately than maintaining a positive customer relationship. Again, the workmanship was good, but the way the payment issue was handled unfortunately overshadowed an otherwise solid experience. read more

We were so impressed by Tyler's professionalism and attention to every detail. Tyler is a great communicator and was in touch with us every day until the project was completed. He and his crew are very courteous and organized. They painted the upper cabinets in the kitchen and laundry room, stained the lower cabinets in the kitchen and the living room mantle. It turned out exactly what we had envisioned. They also painted the interior of our house, ceilings, walls, trim and doors. They also replaced our kitchen countertops, installed a new sink, faucets, new hardware and replaced our backsplash. Did I mention they were finished in 10 days during the month of January including an Ice Day! I am so happy we went with Tyler. We're so glad we found Austin Painting and Cabinets for our kitchen remodel. We had the interior of our house painted by Tyler and Austin Painting and Cabinets. They also did some modification to the cabinets in our kitchen. Communication by Tyler was always prompt and courteous, they showed up when they said they would and finished when they thought they would. 2nd Job - not so great. Hired this company a second time, but a different painter came. He got in a rush. He should have put a second coat on and caulked the seams. There are small drips from the trim I am just now seeing while trying to hang decorations. So now I have to put on a second coat in one room myself!! Also, I was told that I should inspect the quality of the job myself. Room looks bad and get new paint, it looks better. Hiring a contractor you can trust is the key. Sub-contractors may not always be dependable, but Tyler is a quality control orientated businessman that communicates well, follows through on any needs the client has, and is very fair in pricing. We had a shipping issue that delayed our countertops and Tyler was on point with communicating daily and offered us an excellent contingency plan that we ultimately took and love. There are things in the industry that can't be controlled, such as other contractors damaging your work and we had that experience as well. Tyler was a true professional through a situation where his work was tarnished at no fault of his own. He and his sub came quickly to resolve the issue to ensure we had a quality paint job on our kitchen cabinets. We contacted Austin Painting and Cabinets (along with other companies providing cabinet painting services) to provide us an estimate on painting our kitchen cabinets. Tyler came out and assessed the situation, indicating that he could meet our requirement to paint with a low VOC "hybrid" cabinet paint. We indicated we would also be reflooring the kitchen as well as installing new countertops and backsplash. Tyler indicated he could help with the countertops and backsplash as well, though not with the flooring. His bid, inclusive of cabinet painting, countertops and backsplash, was reasonable. I also really liked the fact that, unlike some contractors, Tyler priced the deliverables into appropriate line items so we could see the charges for each key step in the process. After selecting the paint color, countertop material, and backsplash tile, we provided Tyler the required deposits to procure the materials. The next step in the process was to clean the cabinets, followed by priming. The cabinet doors were removed and painted outside. The cleaner and primer coats used were strong (not low VOC), and we ended up staying a few nights in an Airbnb to let this dry/air out. After this the cabinets and doors were painted. The painters were very skilled and efficient. Everything was covered with plastic to ensure no mess. Next, our Brazilian granite countertops (3 separate pieces) were installed, along with our new stainless steel sink, followed by the tile backsplash. The last phase of the project was to document any small defects or blemishes that needed retouching. Tyler had his project manager come back a few weeks later to make the adjustments and retouches. He also was quick to have his team clean off some paint spray that had settled onto the drive during the spray painting of the doors outside. In sum, Austin Painting and Cabinet's attention to detail, their quickness and efficiency in getting the job done, their professionalism and responsiveness to my feedback (strong customer focus), and the outstanding quality of their work, made this kitchen remodel a breeze. The end result is a beautiful kitchen and we are extremely pleased with the outcome! read more

They painted the interior of my entire condo (walls/ceilings/trim). Most of the walls and ceilings were painted dark and bright colors. I had the walls painted off white and the ceilings/trim a bright white. I wanted to use a local company that had good reviews. When I contacted multiple painting contractors on Thanksgiving Day, Tyler (owner of Austin Painting and Cabinets) got back to me faster than anyone else (within 10 minutes), and also didn't put me off until after Thanksgiving, like the others did (above and beyond what you would expect). Tyler always got back to me quickly, throughout the process, which is great because I'm impatient. Tyler pays serious attention to detail. He asked me tons of questions about what I wanted and gave me very detailed explanations about everything, during the estimate meeting. It didn't seem like he was in a rush at all, when he came for the estimate (more focused on understanding what I wanted and explaining things), which I cannot say for the other contractors. Regarding some of the things I was having difficulty deciding on, I asked for Tyler's opinion (during the estimate), and he was 100% correct.
