Absolutely awful experience. I went to her for a basic wash and flat iron. First of all, never let her near your head with scissors, and second, make sure you confirm the price. The advertised price online was $90 for this. I was prepared to pay this or even $120. That would've been fine by me. Let me explain more below. My BIGGEST issue is that after washing and blow drying my hair she mentioned I have dead ends and need them to be cut. I know this is untrue as my last hair stylist I saw last month remarked upon how healthy my hair is and how I don't need a trim. It was all the way mid down my back before I met this stylist I'm detailing in this review. Well, this is my first time seeing this new stylist. She said, "oh all your hair is dead. It's dead. You need a trim." I said I didn't really need a trim but if it needs it so be it and asked her if she could trim it. That was the biggest mistake of my life. She didn't trim 2 or 3 inches as she claimed. She CUT 6 inches of my hair. I cried the entire way home and cried myself to sleep last night. I feel violated. She claims she cut 2-3 inches. I'll let you look at the photos of the hair I had versus what she did to me in that chair claiming she was trimming it and let you decide. Then to add insult to injury she cut layers into it and bangs I didn't ask for meaning it will be hell to maintain on my own and never communicated with me. Any good stylist would have shown me with her hands where she intended to cut or trim (as my old stylists from the last 2 places I lived used to do). There was no communication just CHOP. I am utterly heartbroken and have been crying all day today and cried myself to sleep last night. It will take me 2 more years to grow it back. When I told her I wasn't happy with it she kept insisting "well it needed it! I only cut 2 inches!" (never insinuated I wouldn't pay. I paid in full but I am still utterly upset). She cut like a minimum of 4 inches, at least 5 inches. Please don't go to her. She doesn't do a good job communicating and seems to just take it upon herself to decide to cut you a bob cut when you had long flowing hair down your back. She kept saying it was a "trim." Then at the very end of it she said, "that'll be $170 for the cut and wash." So now she admits it was a cut. I wanted a TRIM. I paid for it without saying anything more as its clear the owner is too stubborn to admit that she did something without my consent. My hair was one of the few parts of me that I loved, and for that I feel utterly violated. While I paid her the money without further comment, its not about the money for me. It's about the move I had for my hair. It will take 2 years for me to get it that long again. Please learn from my mistakes. If you go to her, don't let her touch you with the scissors read more

Being someone with thick kinky curly hair, Phyllis handled my hair with care and has always been one of the few painless hair salon experiences I've had. Phyllis has done a great job with my silk presses without damaging my natural hair. My silk presses have lasted weeks at a time regardless of humidity. I cannot say enough about Phylis. I came in desperate with severely damaged hair. It wasn't always that way as I used to have healthy hair but somewhere along the way it changed and couldn't recover. As a result I became the Queen of Pony tails. I will admit she did have to give me a mini intervention as I had to learn to trust the journey back to healthy hair which included bangs and wearing my hair down but 10 months the later, the proof is in the pudding as they say. It's almost unrecognizably different. My hair is full, shiny, limited shedding, growing and feels good. To top it off I'm in the midst of transitioning away from perm and still have this silky manageable hair texture (never thought that was even possible). We want honesty here right? I found the ladies in this shop to be very unprofessional. There were people I assumed worked there just sitting around eating take-out that smelled, and not really doing anything much to help. They didn't even acknowledge the presence of customers. Another woman seemed annoyed that I was getting served before her because she's "a regular". Sorry, I made an "appointment". I went in for a blowout for a party that night and it took me almost two hours before I was able to walk out with a blow out that was 'just okay'. They sat me under a cap dryer for 25 minutes saying that they needed to get the moisture out, while I got cold, my hair started to frizz and my shirt got wet. Why weren't they using a blow dryer for that like EVERY OTHER SALON I HAVE EVER BEEN TO? She seemed annoyed when I questioned it. It seemed lazy and like they didn't want to be bothered. The blowout itself was odd. She told me right away she didnt have the brush she'd prefer to use on my hair and then the one she used she was yanking out and definitely splitting my ends. I told her I was hard headed and not sensitive, but I definitely didn't want to have my hair shredded. Not only did they seem to have no sense of time or urgency to get clients in and out, but they then they tried to charge me more than the giant sign in front of their store advertised - $40 for blowouts. I had even called in advance to confirm the price. They never once said - if your hair is long it will be $60. She acted like she was doing me a favor by honoring the price she quoted me, and that was when I knew I wouldn't be back. $60 for a blow out - BYE FELECIA! read more

I started going to N'joyable Hair Studio back in March of this year. I wore braids for a few years thinking it would grow and strengthen my hair, and it did just the opposite. When I took the braids out my hair was very damaged. I was determined to find a salon who was knowledgeable with textured hair. The first time I met Phyllis (the salon owner), she advised me on what she think would work best for my hair which was the keratin treatment. Dirty salon. Messy floor, unkempt items, stuff in the drain, bad lighting. Felt very neglected and like it wouldnt pass an inspection. I should have walked out but felt rude. The hair dresser was SLOW. I was there for 90 + minutes just getting a trim and blow-dry and she kept stoping to talk to people. I was in a rush by the hour mark (my hair still wet) and let her know. The hair cut was UNEVEN and I had to go elsewhere to get it fixed. The atrocious cut wasn't even the worst part about this place. The hygiene and service were childlike. The owner was disciplining her daughter uncomfortably in front of the 2 customers they had AND talking down to her employees.
