PD took care of my car quickly, did a great job, and has the personality of an old friend. Honesty and Service Let's just keep it simple - you want someone to work on your car that is honest. Check. You want good service. Check. You want to know that when you take your car in for work you are not going to be ripped off. Check. I've taken all my cars to N'Tune for the last 20 years. It is the only place I will take my cars. I've never felt taken advantage of and the work is exceptional. The only reason I did not give this a 5 star review is the woman working the front desk needs to know a little bit more about cars if she is going to work in this environment. She is the first contact. Minor point perhaps but they used to have someone there (Sarah) who was awesome and could advise beyond just checking you in. These guys were great. They were recommended to me by a colleague, and I was glad I took his suggestion. The staff was very friendly. I took my car in for its 90,000 mile maintenance; it cost about $500. I asked about a quote for a couple dents on my car, and they had a guy from the body shop next door come take a look at it while my car was there. The NTune mechanic (didn't catch his name unfortunately) told me if I took my car back he could pop out some of the dents with heat so I wouldn't have to replace the whole piece. A word to the wise-- Google maps tells you to go on I-40 to get to this place, but you can't get here from I-40. To get here, turn onto Mt Moriah from 15-501 and then take a left onto Erwin Rd. NTune will come up on your left but it's behind a body shop, so you have to drive into the body shop parking lot and around back to get to NTune. read more

I thought twice about writing this review due to the other good reviews but what happened to me should be public knowledge. A month ago I took my truck to N-Tune for an inspection. At that time they told me one of the headlights was loose and needed to be secured (A.K.A. NO LONGER ABLE TO MOVE) before it would pass inspection. The quote they gave me to do the work was over $800, which consisted of two new headlights and their labor. This was way more than I could afford and seemed unnecessary since the lights both worked and the only thing wrong was a cracked bracket on the left headlight. I HAD IT FIXED ELSEWHERE FOR LESS THAN $50. Well, today I took the truck back for an inspection to give them another chance. It should be noted that the headlights work perfectly and are not loose in their housings. After spending an hour there, I was informed the truck would not pass because it had to have OEM or factory parts in order for him to pass the truck. He changed me $23 to fail me when a state inspection only costs $13.60. He still pushed me to spend the $800 for "factory headlights" and was shocked when I didn't agree to the work. This man doesn't understand how the law is written for state inspections or is a shiester that uses the state inspection as a way of trying to take advantage of the general public. There are way too many choices for auto care in our area to be strong armed into overspending on unnecessary repairs. We cannot recommend this business and strongly urge others to shop around before taking your vehicle here for ANYTHING. read more

I've only been a handful of times but they are definitely my go to mechanic now. More than once they've talked me down from having a particular service done there, and this past time was especially noteworthy. I have a 2018 Civic, just out of warranty. The A/C has stopped working, and diagnosis revealed that the work that needed doing would have a $1,900 price tag. They suggested immediately that I try to get the work covered through Honda, and then called me countless times with other potential hacks that might get at least some of the cost covered. Note: they spent A LOT of time talking to me about how not to pay them the cost of this repair. They gave me what people want -- honesty and empathy in regard to auto work, something most of us know very little about. And it should pay off for everyone in the long run. What they forfeited in immediate payment will hopefully be made up for in my long-term patronage, and telling all my friends they need to take their vehicles there. read more

I called and made an appointment for an oil change and they managed to squeeze me in on the same day! There's not really much to say! They do the job and they do it quick and well for a very reasonable price! While changing my oil, they also found a leak in a valve on one of my tires and so kindly helped me out with that! It's also nice supporting a smaller, locally owned business! Just a word to the wise, this place is a bit difficult to find. I have to give a big shout out to the people who work here. We are from out of town and came to NC on a Saturday night. Our a/c was out in the car. Anyone open on Sunday was unable to take us in. I called as soon as they opened on Monday morning. They got us in, were very nice and fast. We had a commitment we had to be at later in the day. Had my NPR diesel towed to them because the batteries were dead, wouldn't charge and only 4 months old. Figured it was a bad alternator. Get a call later saying the batteries are bad and that they changed them out. I get there and ask where the old batteries are and they claim that the recycling service had already picked them up. I asked if they had looked at the date on the batteries and they said nope. Just said they were bad. Then proceeded to charge me $600 for the new batteries. Not only were the old batteries under warranty from Napa they were only about $300 from them. So I'm out $900 in less than 4 months for batteries when I should have been able to get new ones from Napa. They changed the oil another time and they did not torque the oil plug properly and it leaked oil all over a new home driveway. Other work I've had done there always seemed to be a lot of inflated parts prices. I researched a lot of them to find they were half the price or less than what they were charging. I get a mark up but not an a## reaming. All of the reviews about "honesty" are a joke! (probably them writing them about themselves) read more

Yep, this is the place you need to take your car. My Acura had a problem the Wilmington, NC Acura dealer and other shops couldn't figure out. In about 1.5 hours N-Tune figured it out, a loose ground wire. Good thing I didn't let Acura replace all the parts and pumps they said I needed. For the two years I was in Durham, these were the go to buys for my automotive repairs. Friendly, expert work and trustworthy. I'm an unsatisfied customer. I brought vehicle in for an idling issue after replacing battery. I was told radiator fluid was mixing with oil, and charged a $104 diagnostic fee. After a little due diligence, I learned that the idling problem could have been solved by simply driving the vehicle so the computer could relearn idling patterns after having disconnected the battery. Upon return to facility, and talking with mechanic he claimed there were other problems he failed to document and attempted to fix by using a hammer on the idle controller. read more

My other "car guy" friends worked with them in the past and had nothing but good things to say about their service (which is how I found out about them). I drive a beater car barely held together by rust, and obscure to boot so parts are really hard to find. I'm just trying to get through a few more months while my kid finishes up her chemo and I can start thinking about real life stuff like car payments and such again. They pulled my car in and did what had to be a dirty, annoying, pain in the butt job, tying up a lift all morning while they replaced probably 100 rusted on screws on the transmission oil pan, and charged me... well, they have a lot of really excellent karma coming their way. These are good people and honest mechanics and they will get all of my business as well as whatever business I can send their way. Location is convenient, their prices are fair. Found this place as a backup for a simple NC inspection. Although it is a bit off the beaten path (you drive through 2 unpaved parking lots to get here), the staff are incredibly friendly and the service is very efficient. We showed up on a Friday afternoon to get an inspection done. A simple task, but I wanted to make sure it gets done right and I always prefer to spend my money at a local place. This shop delivered. Nothing special about it and the waiting room is definitely no-frills, but it is efficient with seats for waiting and some semi-modern magazines. The mechanic running the front desk was very friendly and took good care of my car. The inspection was fast, and we were on our way. One thing to note, however, is that it is definitely off the beaten path. We drove from south Durham, so we ended up turning off of 15-501 and heading through some rural areas before turning into a small dirt lot. The shop itself is surrounded with cars in various states of repair. Like I said, nothing special, but the service we got was awesome. Would definitely go back. read more
