Wish I could give them 10 stars. My husband's father passed away unexpectedly in another town and the LAST, the very LAST, thing we needed to have to deal with was a flat tire. A slow leak quickly went to a fast leak so in the middle of everything else we were trying to deal with we got the tire inflated and were able to drive it to Durham Tire. The staff there were AMAZING -- friendly, understanding, and efficient. They did a great quick job for us and got us back on the road, along with kind words about our loss. Before stopping by Durham Tire and Auto Center, I stopped by two other tire shops to determine if a patch was possible near the sidewall of a front tire on our Subaru. I explained to the other shops that I was unsure if the "small nail/ large tack" had actually punctured the tires tread, and it did not seem to be losing air over the previous few days. Before even looking at the car, I was adamantly met with the dreaded "you got to replace all four tires on an AWD vehicle." I totally understood this advice, as replacing a single tire, or even two can cause drivetrain issues due to uneven tread wear on AWD vehicles. However, my tires were only 2 years old with plenty of life, and I was obviously hoping to avoid spending $800. The gentleman at Durham Tire was quick to actually access the situation without trying to sell me 4 tires. He broke out a spray bottle to determine if the tire was actually punctured/leaking. Two minutes later the "nail/tack" was popped out and I was back on the road. Durham Tire and Auto made my day and I appreciate the honesty! Durham Tire is the best. I was visiting the area due to family having surgery at Duke Medical. My tire light came on and I added air. It later came on again. I didn't want to chance having a flat on my journey back to Virginia with someone who just had major surgery. I looked at the reviews and Durham Tire was the best. I went there and you could tell they were extremely busy. I asked the gentleman if they could check my tire. He said it would be at least a two hour wait. Back in 2004, I had to have my car towed somewhere, a friend reccommended here. Close to work. I have never gone anywhere else since then. Larry the owner, is helpful, nice. Billy, Doyle and the counter staff are awesome. I don't know about prices but feel I have been charged fairly for all different kinds of work on my car over the years. I highly reccomend them as being an honest business which is alot for car repair shops. They are the kind of business you want to deal with on a regular basis. read more

I had liked taking my Car and Truck there for service but the service is not good. I always mark my tires when I know I am going to have them rotated. I got my car back and only three tires were rotated and the fourth time had not moved. Another time I went to have an oil change and they did it but when I got home I noticed a drip coming from under the car . I backed the car up and felt the liquid and smelled it and it was oil and I smelt oil burning. I took it back the manager said it could be coming from my a/c. They took it back in and it was leaking oil from the I oil filter gasket. They cleaned it up and refilled the oil and refunded my money. The last thing I had done there was to turn the brake rotors. I check it after they were done and three were smooth and. The right front had rough ridges. The manager told me not to come back and offered a refund. I told him I don't want a refund I want it done correctly. He told me to leave. This review is for their store on Roxboro Road in Durham. I have used their other store on Hillsborough Road and never had a problem and the staff are all very friendly. read more

Honest mechanics and service at a fair price. I've been very impressed every time I bring my car here. They have never tried to sell me anything more than what my car needs to get back on the road safely. They will make suggestions, but will never be pushy about it. The staff is friendly and will try to accommodate as best as they can to work with my schedule when it's time to bring in my car for regular service. I've brought my car here 7-8 times within the last 2 years. They have done a great job every time. Doyle is very friendly and makes an effort to provide multiple options at different prices. They have never tried to tell me anything needed done that didn't actually need done, so they seem really honest! I've been getting my oil changed and tires rotated there for over a year. I called them and let them know I was on my way. Then called them again that the tow truck was late and I probably was not going to make it there before they closed. I made it there 10 minutes before they closed expecting to leave my car overnight. Oh no, they were ready for me despite being super busy. I have a Subaru so I knew I was going to need four new tires. They replaced all the tires and I was out in 30 minutes. They are super amazing. Durham Tire & Auto is the only place I trust with my car. They are honest and trustworthy and will go out of their way to help their customers. I know that I can go in there and they will not try to sell me anything I don't need or tell me my car has a problem that doesn't exist. I went to another shop before this and they tried to tell me my alternator was broken (when it wasn't) and charge me $400. I went here and they were honest and so helpful and told me absolutely nothing was wrong with my car except for my brake light stop pad, which was a $10 fix.
