However, the office staff and overall organization need serious improvement. There are times when staff appear to be socializing, talking about personal matters, happy hour, and other non-work-related conversations while patients are waiting. I have also seen staff standing around while patients are sitting there waiting to be checked in or prepared before seeing the doctor. The scheduling process does not make sense. If a patient arrives late, they are told they cannot be seen, but if you arrive early for a 10:00 AM appointment, you may still not be checked in or prepared until around 11:00 AM. What is the purpose of scheduling appointments if the office cannot keep the schedule? There seem to be many employees, yet

Both times, the wait was no longer than 30 minutes. She needed to get cataract surgery and there are different pricing structures. The coordinator did not try to upsell us and respected the choice we made. Overall, everyone we interacted with was proficient at their job. There is not a private parking lot but metered parking is only $1.50 an hour and there are usually spots open. Also you can take the 7 train to 90st-Elmhurst station. This office is right across the street.

I couldn't look up doctor reviews on the Cigna website so I looked up Dr. Pilavas on Zocdoc. Making reservation was a breeze and Dr. Pilavas actually gave me a phone call to confirm my appointment. I went the week of 6/1, when the office is still closed for non-emergency visits. My condition didn't really call for urgent checkup, but I was lucky to have my appointment set right away. Once I was at the office, there was around an hour wait. However, the doctor was considerate and explained that he has been busy tending to other patients who needed immediate care. Dr. Pilavas was friendly and gently explained to me what's going on with my eye. It turns out the condition is nothing to worry about and I am glad that I visited Dr. Pilavas. With my Cigna open access insurance I had to pay $45 for the copay. It was quite a pleasant experience so I'd recommend Dr. Pilavas for anyone looking for eye care.
