History

Established in 1986.

Norayda was born in Cuba and has been living in the US since the age of five. She began interpreting in the courts in Greeley, CO while working on her Bachelor's degree at the University of Northern Colorado. She worked as a staff interpreter in the Weld County courts for over four years before going into business for herself as a freelance interpreter/translator serving the entire N. Colorado region, as far north as Cheyenne, Wyoming and as far south as Colorado Springs. She obtained court interpreter certification in Colorado in 1992 as soon as certification became available there. Jumping ahead, when certification testing was first being developed in FL and the first oral performance certification test was offered in the year 2000, she achieved high marks in her Consortium Qualification Exam, the oral component of the full certification testing process offered for the first time in 2008. Norayda was the 19th person in FL ever to obtain Spanish court interpreter certification.

So, it turns out that Norayda de León-Jones was born to be a professional court interpreter though she didn't know it until she was in college and a Master's student in one of her summer classes mentioned that his wife was a bilingual clerk at the courthouse and they were looking for an interpreter. Nervous but curious about interpreting in the courts, she applied, interviewed, and was hired on the spot. The rest is history. Every single day she wakes up driven to serve her community with her professional bilingual skills and a genuine commitment to make a difference no matter where her work takes her.
