We arrived around 8:30 PM. Slow service despite only a few customers, dirty tables left un-bussed, appetizer forgotten. Food was good, but not exactly worth the long wait for food. Spice level ordered (1-5) was not on par. POS: garlic nann bread was yummy, curry chicken pretty good too. We'll give it one more try, maybe it was a random off-night. read more

Normally I would reserve a 5-star rating for a place that has both exceptional food and service as well as a unique and attractive space. Naan and Brew has two of three but because of the enthusiasm of the owner, I am going all the way. We had noted the restaurant several times across the street from the site of our farmers market. We had intended to go a month ago but found that it was "closed for repairs". Went the other night. The place is sterile and despite being only six months old, already needs some paint touch up. The space is a little bit odd with what would normally be the front door, closed off and actually our table was right next to that. Those are the minuses. Our waitress came right out with menus and water. The menu has both traditional Indian meat and vegetarian options. We chose veggie samosas, garlic naan, aloo gobi and eggplant bharta. Everything came out promptly, in the proper order, hot and very flavorful. The owner stopped at our table twice, the second time introducing hismself as "Mike". We chatted about his origins and pointed out our observations about the need to add some decorations to the space as well as do some touch-up. He was quite receptive and very enthusiastic. When we complemented the naan, he immediately invited us back to the kitchen to meet his chefs. It was immediately obvious that everything was being made from scratch and cooked freshly for each order. I am not a big fan of buffets but theirs looked very inviting and was exceedingly reasonably priced. I am sure this place will do very well as word gets around. Normally fairly decent fair, but beware of curry dishes. I order via online and pickup and found the curry dish inedible due to the level of spice heat. Each spoonful was actually painful and a few bites in I had to stop. I normally really enjoy curry dishes, and I could understand I'd asked specifically to have that much spice, but as a default it was waaaaay too much. Extensive menu and our table tried a variety of things. The lamb curry dishes were good and the paleek paneer was ok. It took a really long time to get our first order of Naan which was a bit thin and crispy. We ordered more with our dinner and it took even longer, but was actually much better than the first round. The server was new and was not familiar with the menu. Having worked in restaurants for decades, I got the feeling that perhaps the chef wasn't that approachable or the training for front of the house was poor (perhaps both). This restaurant is a must! The best authentic Indian cuisine, family owned and run, great location and easy to find. Each dish is individually made and everything is fresh. Excellent customer service and delicious food. The waitress, Veronica, was very helpful and recommended her favorites at request. Another employee was also very kind and even offered to tilt the tv that was currently off for our kids to watch cartoons, we declined, but was a very kind gesture. Beer selection was great. The food was great, the service was slow. We had dinner on a Friday night, happy to arrive before 6 and got a table easily, but the place filled up not long later. Our waitress never brought our appetizer but did finally bring the entree. The staff need some additional training but are friendly enough. We were greeted as soon as we entered by friendly staff and seated right away. We were offered drinks and menus and Lindsay explained the buffet as well. We ordered chicken tikka, beef and lamb kabobs and shared them. The spices were wonderful and not too overwhelming. The garlic naan is a must! The restaurant was busy with a variety of people...families, younger and older couples, groups of friends...everyone fits here! The restaurant was clean and inviting. My friend and I ordered the garlic naan, butter chicken, and chicken tikka masala. Easily the best Indian food I've ever had. I gave it 4 stars because the initial service certainly wasn't impressive, but once the food came we completely forgot about the service once I started eating the food! Absolutely amazing. I loved the look and feel of the place. Stopped here passing through Bellingham on the way home. Staff and owner are extremely helpful and so nice. Our table had the beef kabobs, lamb, buttered chicken, and a chicken and fish appetizer, as well as some garlic naan bread. Every bit of it was delicious and flavorful. Their drinks are also very good! Had the lemon martini and the mango martini. I recommend this place to all!! read more

Uh the first two experiences of this place were pretty good,until tonight my order took twice as long as they told me 55 minutes for a single entree for take out.and it was so bland,didn't taste much flavor(#45).previous take out I ordered standard chicken curry which was decent for bellingham,first time I went in with a friend and we ordered 4 entrees and a couple and a couple beers+apps to try what they had to offer and it was really good(not cheap),lacking in the meat portions but still good considering Bellingham doesn't have any other decent Indian option downtown. Anyways,waiting an extra 30 minutes for one take out item that was extremely bland just make sure me miss "taste of India" in Seattle.(when there is no place to sit and wait for seating or your order you're stuck outside in the cold or hovering over other tables) read more

In Bellingham this restaurant is too good to be true. I have visited twice and enjoyed every bite. Samosas are unique, chicken is delicious, and veggie dishes are just right. We were a party of nine on December 23 and could not have been more pleased with the service, quality of food and fair pricing. The staff were welcoming and attentive, without being intrusive. The naan, dal and chicken pakoras in particular were outstanding. Darn good local beer selection, too. How lovely to have outstanding Indian food without traveling to BC or Seattle. OK, I have eaten at Naan and Brew 3 times now and concluded this is some of the best North Indian Food in NW Washington. There is another very good Indian restaurant in Bellingham and one in Mount Vernon and neither come close to this food. I am a seasoned traveler in my work in 49 states over 40+ years. I love Indian food and this is as good as it gets. For vegetarian and vegan fare there are always both on the menu as well as on the daily buffet. The owner, staff and his chef are incredibly accommodating and make you feel right at home. Try the house made Samosas as they are prepared in a way I have never had them before. They cut them in half before they bring them to your table. They are always prepared a little differently and just right. The best I have ever eaten. If it is not busy when you are there ask the owner to show you "how" Naan and Brew make their Naan bread. It is amazing and is something you will always remember. I gave this wonderful cafe (directly across from the Saturday Depot Farmer's Market) five stars as they deserve it. You won't be sorry you ate here. read more
