    Wonton soup 3/5

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Visited on a Monday, and it was fairly busy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The interior was cute and had a lot of attention to detail with canvas prints and slab tables.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We came in hungry, so the 10 min wait to have our order taken stretched out patience. We were served and all was well. The three soups we ordered were just alright, quite expensive for what they were. The wontons in mine were unwieldy in size and the broth was a little bland. It was nice to have something warm in our bellies.

3 stars only because we've ordered takeout from Soy House on and off since Covid and never had any issues until now. I ordered tofu pho and my husband ordered a banh mi. We live about 20 minutes away, and when we got home, my pho only had noodles and tofu. It was missing the bean sprouts, lime, and green chili listed on the menu. The bread on the banh mi was burnt and so hard my husband had to remove it. Where was the kitchen quality control? I worked in the service industry for years and I don't enjoy leaving negative feedback, but I did want to let them know. I called and spoke with a manager who said I would need to bring the food back in person for any sort of refund. Since we don't live in Bellingham, that wasn't realistic. I offered to send photos and was told they didn't have a way to receive them (sure, sure). Unfortunately, nothing was offered to make it right which was frustrating considering our total was $60 and more than half of my husband's sandwich ended up on the trash. It was a disappointing experience overall, and we won't be returning.

I was in the Ham a few weeks ago to hang out with my mom and daughter for the day, and we dropped in at Soy House for lunch. The menu was huge and a bit overwhelming for lunch, but soon enough we'd each chosen something delicious to try. Mom got the chow mein and loved it. The serving was huge, and there was enough left over for her to take the rest home for dinner. My daughter grabbed the garlic sauce noodle stir fry with a combo of meat and seafood, plus tons of yummy fresh veggies. And I got the woven vermicelli, which was similar to a classic vermicelli salad, except the noodles were in more of a cake form. It was all delicious! The service was fast and friendly, and we appreciated that they have their own huge parking lot so we didn't have to find street parking on a busy day downtown. This was my second visit to Soy House this year and I have to say, I was impressed!

Tofu pho, Beef pho, and Thai tea

The food is always so good and fills you up! The tofu pho in particular is my favorite and the spring rolls are always so fresh. I'm a big fan of being able to take the leftovers home after and them still being just as delicious. The service is pretty nice every time I go! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The owner is so nice and welcoming, overall giving a great atmosphere for a date or lunch with friends/family.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]This place is popular for a reason. Yes it can get busy but the wait is never too long and the tables are always clean![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Honestly the food is worth the wait in my opinion.

I really wanted to like this place, but it just doesn't quite deliver for the price. I've tried a few items on the menu, and if I do return, it would probably be for the brisket pho, even though $17 feels a bit steep for a bowl of pho. My vietnamese self can't justify that price for pho. I also ordered the shaken beef (bo luc lac) but was left disappointed. The portion seemed heavy on veggies and rice, but light on beef, which isn't ideal for a $27 dish. Bo luc lac is one of my favorite Vietnamese dishes, and I often order it, but I was surprised to see green peppers in this version. Personally, I think it would be better with fewer green peppers, more green beans, and most importantly, more beef. The flavors are there, but the balance of ingredients and pricing could use some work.

Hands down the best thing about this place and no offense to the food or the service, is the parking lol. An entire dedicated parking lot right in old town is prime real estate for sure. A great place to go if you are new to Bellingham, like we were, and you can ease your way into the Old Town experience w/o worry. Now let's go inside the restaurant. Service was perfectly fine. Lots of young folks, maybe college kids. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Nice décor though we would have liked it to be even more immersive.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food was good and in a way that we felt would be likeable to many people from different walks of life.

Tony and the crew never disappoint. I have worked my way through most of the menu, and I am excited to highly recommend this place. Authentic food, setting, and service. During the summer you can sit out on the extended patio and enjoy the sea breeze. Where are you eat some awesome, authentic Vietnamese food. Best Vietnamese restaurant in town.

Soy House Vietnamese Restaurant serves delicious Vietnamese food in Bellingham, WA. Overlooking the water, the restaurant has a light and airy feel. There is plenty of outdoor seating or you may choose to sit inside and take in the whimsical decor. The waitstaff is extremely kind and attentive, ensuring you have everything you need during your meal. Last, but not least, the food is incredible! I had the chicken pho and was blown away by how great the broth was. The soup was not only delicious, but also very filling. I highly recommend Soy House Vietnamese Restaurant if you're in the mood for some great food!

The hostess is personable and friendly, great greeting when you first walk in. Our party of 4 were served really quickly and food arrived shortly afterwards. Nice menu with a variety of dishes to choose from. Large portions and great presentation too. Lunch crowd was manageable but busy. Would definitely recommend for a fun friendly gathering meal.

Food was just OK and expensive service was great but food was slow..it was busy as it was lunch time the fish were the kids favorite to look at.my curry was good but the chicken was over cooked and minimal

Halibut was overcooked, gluey, and bad fish taste. It didn't taste like Halibut. Would not recommend.

I found this " vegetable and tofu" roll the most bland I've had. No herb, sauce , crunch.... I am a fresh roll lover, so a little discerning, but this was truly flavorless. Tofu, rice noodles, leaf lettuce and rice paper. Thats it. Like eating a carrier for too little peanut sauce. The pho was filling and came with a plate of bean sprouts referred to as "the vegetables" . The Vietnamese coffee was tasty but presentation awkward. It came as Condensed milk in a cup with a pour- over atop this and the separate glass of ice. I'm no expert in this ritual but I am accustomed to having the milk cold in the ice and the brewed coffee in a spouted vessel for easy pouring into the iced milk. Here we had to mix the brewed coffee, then add it dribbling and spilling to the ice. No big deal but awkward. It tasted good. The prices were reasonable and parking a lot shared with the strip mall . Not within the restaurant's control , but in circling for a spot around one lane, I was nearly backed into by not 2 not 3 but 4 cars. I think I recall a cannabis shop being in the mall or nearby. This may explain that. The service was friendly throughout. The place was empty but the time was odd. I don't think we'd return based upon the fresh rolls alone.

I ordered #31, thought the broth was a bit bland but perhaps I've just been spoiled by Vancouver (BC) pho spots. It was quite busy the whole time we were there and it's clear they have a dedicated following. Generous with their bean sprout quantity. A random thing to note is their washroom doesn't have a bag/jacket hook so hopefully you have a friend that can hold onto your stuff while you use the gender neutral washroom, or better yet, plan your visit before you leave your table.

To kick off our experience we started with the fried pork sticky buns, and they did not last long. The crispy fried crust had a very unique texture, and contrasted wonderfully with the soft warm inside of sticky buns with BBQ pork filing. Next we dug into the Fried Combo, which included Egg Rolls, Potstickers and Crab Rangoon. The Egg Roll & Potstickers were unforgettable, but the Crab Rangoon was the real star of the show. Creamy crab filling wrapped in fried wonton paper, and some sweet chili sauce to dip in. Moving on to the entrees we shared the Beef & Shrimp Fried Noodle plate, and the Grilled Chicken Banh Mi. The fried noodles contained tender beef and succulent shrimp stir-fried with yellow noodles, Cabbage, Shredded Carrot, crisp bean sprouts, and garnished with fresh cilantro. The dish was very flavorful, with all the fresh veggies and spices tying together the noodles, shrimps and beef. Finally the banh mi. I will admit I have never tried a banh mi sandwich, but I am very glad this was my first one. All the vegetables on top provided an excellent crunch and the chicken was very tender with an amazing flavor. I also added picked jalapeño for an extra touch of heat. All in all this is a very great choice for anyone in the mood for some great Vietnamese cuisine. We will definitely be going into the restaurant next time to try something else!
