Best Lebanese food I have ever had. Between me and my friend we tried almost everything on the menu and will be back to tackle the rest. The mammoul was perfect, no extra unnecessary dough, just the perfect amount and soft dates and that orange blossom water, so good! I am not usually a fan of Knafeh Ashta but I tasted my friends and it was so amazing. Both kibbehs, beef and the vegetarian versions were so flavorful and cooked just right with that crispy outside. Was looking for a decent Lebanese restaurant in NYC and found this gem. I knew when I saw stuffed zucchini on the menu it was a real family style restaurant. Make sure you book early to get that though. They were sold out when we arrived at 7ish. Winners on the menu are: mouhamara, baba ghannouj, rice hashwi and chicken and batata harrah. Batata was the best I have ever had. It's made very differently in different places but they have found an incredible way. Rice hashwi was amazing and served with incredible garlic sauce my family used to make that is happiness bottled. Should be served with broken up spaghetti pieces but I think they were trying to be gluten free. No worries. They make up for it with extra servings of the slivered almonds. Delicious. Services was friendly and personable. With server being from Lebanon herself. Helps a lot. When I said I was devastated that the Kousa was sold out I really felt like the person who was seating us felt my pain. Very loud and crowded but it ads to the vibe. The owner came to each table to check in which is always a good sign. I know what it takes to make this food so I really hope they keep it going. Will visit again when in NYC for sure. read more

This place feels reminiscent of the Delta Sky Lounge at JFK. And to boot, I've had better meals there. The bright overhead lights made me feel like I was in a hospital cafeteria. Shy of what I could call a self-serve restaurant... I must say being given a number on a table tent -- only to have someone come and auction off the food that we ordered seems a far cry from these rather suspiciously detailed five-star reviews. I also don't understand the difference between this restaurant having "home cooked meals" as opposed to literally any other restaurant's preparation. It's just a restaurant. read more

I had no idea how refined Lebanese food could be before trying Nabila's. The space is beautiful and fun, but the best part is the food! Make sure to try the Muhamara - a unique delight. Kibbeh are fantastic, get a variety. My favorite was the Malfouf - just sublime. Everything is excellent - you can't go wrong. Overall Nabila's is a major advance in NYC's Lebanese dining. This place is in the old Watty & Meg space on Court & Kane. It's better than having the space empty but it doesn't matter to us as one visit was enough. I had my reservations upon walking in and discovering the cafeteria style service (you pick & pay and then find a table and food is brought to you). Looking over half empty platters of food sitting out behind glass was not very appetizing but we gave it a go. We has the Fatoush salad (soggy) and the beet Mutabi which was tasty but again I wasn't sure how long the little bowls had been sitting out. My husband had the chicken as well and he said it was just ok. We wanted to have a nice chilled glass of wine (so far only wine service) but again these were sitting at room temp in a bucket without ice or chilled water. We eat out a lot and enjoy a good meal so we were disappointed in this new venture. I just don't get the whole cafeteria service model. It wasn't even hot yesterday, I can't imagine what things will be like when it gets really hot out and all that food is just sitting waiting for someone to order it. Maybe if you come right at 5:30 when they open and things are first put out it would be ok. We came around 7:30-8. I wish them well but we won't be back. read more

One of the best meals we've had in a long time! Had the mouhamara, beef and vegetarian kibbeh, and sambousik to start, then the fattoush and green bean tomato stew and stuffed zucchini for our entrees. Everything was delicious and the restaurant itself has a great ambiance. They have a great list of Lebanese wines as well. Will definitely be coming back! read more

Okay this place is legit. You know what? It might just be my new favorite restaurant in the neighborhood. The wife and I strolled in for a casual Sunday night dinner around 6, and were instantly granted a table. You order at the front and the staff can provide insight there but the host/food runners are very knowledgeable as well. We ordered the following: - Baba Ghannouj 9/10 (with a dang near perfect warm pita) - Sfeeha 10/10 (just a small bite but maybe the best out of the entire meal. Bursting with flavor!) - Kibbeh Sanieh Vegetarian 10/10 (wife's dish, rly dense in a good way. Filling and tasty, no notes) - Rice Hashwi & Chicken 10/10 (tender roasted chicken with delightfully crispy skin and delicious rice with beef & nuts) - Knafeh Ashta 20/10! (scored with the seasonal pumpkin filled one and it's everything you want in a dessert - fried dough, creamy pumpkin pie custard, drizzled with honey with a dash of attar on top) Oh and best of all, they had a beer from an Iranian home brewer that I've been looking for everywhere! I tried the Persian Lager but def going back for the Sumac Gose. And some more dishes like the Sheesh Barak dumplings and the Batata Harrah. So yeah, what more could one ask for? As pescaterians, we hoped to eat the shrimp dish and the lentils (I always review the menu before making a reservation). Both items were not available the night we went there for dinner. Then we found out that some of the other vegetarian options had *traces of soy* in the broth they use. I'm also allergic to soy. A huge disappointment. The food we were able to eat was ok - but in general not a fan. I think in the future if you're going to take items off the menu, make sure you can still accommodate people who have dietary restrictions. I don't really understand all the good reviews. This place is casual, you order at the front like a fast food joint and the food is premade. Casual isn't bad, actually the neighborhood needs more casual places, but it's priced like it's fancy. A $24 entree but you can't come to the table and take my order. The food is mediocre as well, nothing bad but nothing that great. For half the price, it'd be a great addition to the neighborhood. As it stands, it's just way, way too expensive. read more

Nabila's offers an unexpected and beautiful dining experience. This food is fresher and tastier than anything I've eaten before in the Middle Eastern / Lebanese genre. Classic dishes like kibbeh are insanely good, and the lesser- known side dishes, such as cabbage rolls and egggplant salad, are delicious. Nabila's knafeh - a voluptuous, delicate dessert that cannot be explained in words - transformed this place from a great restaurant to a great experience for me. Steer clear of this unfriendly and badly managed restaurant. The contemptuous owner seated us late, then rushed us through the meal. Hovering waiters grabbed away our menus and dishes before we were done. One asked us when we were going to order dessert. As we were eating our entrees (which took a while to come out!), the owner asked us to vacate the table because others were waiting. Shocking that a family restaurant like Nabila's would go out of its way to treat its customers with so little respect. I am dining with Nabilas right now! The food is impeccable, try not to order everything on the menu - I dare you! The owner, Michael - has put together a magical atmosphere, the wait staff is polite and knowledgeable, and the food is authentic yet exciting. I will continue to come back week after week and I employ you to do the same. I could not recommend this restaurant enough. Heard a lot of good things about this restaurant so was excited to try it. The people who work there are very nice and the food is good. It's focused on sharing and is fancy cafeteria concept. So why the 3 stars? While I must commend the heroic efforts of the host, who operates under tremendous pressure, and the wait staff who do not usually get tipped at the table but still give the highest level of effort and service, and the food which is rather flavorful, the actual experience leaves a lot to be desired. A lot of burden is placed on the diner to "order at the counter" which basically ends up being an 20-30 minutes ordeal when they are busy. Also, the counter display with all the covered dishes cause the ordering customers to ask a lot of info about the food, further slowing down the line. There are actually sufficient staff to take orders at the table. They just need a way to organize the orders for prep. If you go during a busy time you have to wait over 30 mins for a seat then up to 30 mins to order and up to 30 mins for food. Not a relaxing experience to say the least, and for dinner service you just expect a bit more. The acoustics are also not good and they could do with some sound dampening decor/insulation. The food is good but not good enough for the ordeal to be worth it. Hoping they open for lunch / improve the operations, as I won't be back til then. It's a very new place so the potential is there, hopefully they can refine the execution. read more
