Flavorless, over-spicy food with not much taste. Appetizer size was unfortunate and would NOT come

I'm not the biggest fan of Ethiopian food, but my wife loves it and so when there's a place we go wherever we are. Despite me not being a big fan, Nafkot ranks up there amongst the others that we've had in DC and Va. the food tasted fresh and flavorful and what I really appreciated above other places we've been is they don't make the food "Ethiopian hot" automatically. Most places the Berbere spice is on 10 and most of the dishes are set to kill not stun; but Nafkot makes the food to a nice medium spice level and so I was able to eat everything on the family style platter. Parking was easy, pricing was reasonable and all in all it's a place I'll def bring my wife back to when we're in the area.

This was my first experience with Ethopian food. I met a friend there who likes this place a lot. She's vegetarian and I'm not so I asked the waitress for recommendations. She asked me a few questions and gave a few recommendations. I went with the Lega Tibs (beef with onions, tomatoes and bell peppers) and it comes with Injera (Ethopian bread). My friend mentioned that the Injera by itself doesn't really have a taste. However, using the Injera to scoop up my food and the juices gave the Injera a pleasant taste. I was more than pleased with my meal. Plus it was filling. We also had a pot of ginger tea. It came with lipton tea bags if we wished to use them (we didn't). We enjoyed the taste of the ginger tea and other spices. All in all, a great first experience. I'm looking forward to going back and trying other items on the menu.

our family likes Ethiopian food. We had been to this particular restaurant almost 8 years back it was under a different name. At the time if my memory serves me right we did not really have a great experience especially as it comes to the taste of food. All that changed last week. the service was a tad bit slow as there was only one server managing 8-9 tables. we ordered the vegetarian platter and every single dish was exceptional. The portions were decent and their Shiro Wot was extremely good. Will definitely visit again .

After walking around for a few hours in Crabtree Mall, We suddenly felt like eating Ethiopian food for dinner, and Yelp reviews routed us to Nafkot. We had the vegetarian combo and an extra side of Shiro Wat. The food took a little time to arrive, but the flavors were on point. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the hospitality. They also have their special in-house ginger tea. Perfect for sipping the hot ginger water on a cold evening. They offer you a tea bag if you would like to have it as ginger tea. I had mine as is, as I loved it that way, and my husband loved his ginger water with the tea bag. Overall amazing and fresh food. We will definitely be back.

INTRO: Lovely American restaurant in Euro deco offering delicious food at good price. Eggplant and Garlic Naan : Eggplant covered with Tomato gravy, parmesan cheese and bacon. This was one of the best eggplants I had in Raleigh Parking: If you don't get street parking, parking can be an issue. The nearest paid parking lot is 1 mile or so Ambience and Service: They have indoor bar seating and tables. Place is clean and well maintained. Service was amazing and professional.

Nafkot is one of the best (if not the best) Ethiopian restaurants in the area! My friends and I came for dinner one night and shared the Doro Wot, Misto, and Vegetarian Combo. They plated it beautifully on the injera once they brought it out to the table. Amazing presentation and amazing flavors! The tea was also great. We were stuffed by the end of the meal and even left with a few leftovers. Service was a little slow but they were very busy when we came.

Professional and courteous staff. Fast service, piping hot and flavorful chicken and rice dish. The food tasted clean and the seasoning of the chicken was just right. The portions are large. This was my first time trying Ethiopian and I wasn't wowed but it was a good experience overall. It's an acquired taste here. A friend of mine enjoys the food here. I enjoyed the experience and I do recommend it to anyone familiar and interested in Ethiopian cuisine who respects the food and culture.

Great service and good food. It was a first but I will definitely have it again. The ambiance was really nice. You can tell that they care about their business.

We got a sampler of veggies, chicken, and beef. All were good, but could've stuck with just veg.

Yesterday my parents told me they went to one of my favorite Ethiopian spots in the Twin Cities, and that was the motivation I needed...I went searching for Ethiopian food today, and Awaze in Cary delivered. What we ordered: Veggie Platter -- great variety and solid flavor across the board. Doro Wot -- rich, comforting, and cooked well. Awaze Lamb Tibs -- tender and flavorful. Spiced Hot Tea -- loved it; perfect on a chilly day. Everything tasted fresh and authentic, and the injera was soft with the right tang. It felt on par with what I used to get in Minnesota. One note: We asked for the lamb tibs to be spicy, but it came out pretty mild. Not a dealbreaker at all, and I've found that to be fairly common with "spicy" dishes in NC in general , just something to know if you're looking for real heat.

And when I last lived in Durham 30+ years ago, having Ethiopian on Main Street Durham was unimaginable. But Durham on so many levels is a completely different universe. Goorsha is a very pleasant small dining room off a welcoming bar area when you come in. It was overcast and cold this early March day but the outside dining must be lovely later in the spring. We had a very helpful waitress answer a few questions and the food came quickly. The Sambusa appetizer should have perhaps taken a bit longer. The edges were crisp and tasty as was the Deko sauce it came with. But the center was still a bit cold so a bit more time was needed. I wanted beef tibs and went with the Zilzil tibs knowing there would be less sauce and danger of staining my work clothes. They were plentiful, well-cooked if not powerfully seasoned. They were quick to bring ample powered pepper so I could give it some kick dipping each injera enveloped bite for some added heat. The winner was my vegetarian dining companion who went with the very flexible pick three from many vegetarian options. They were a distinct yet complimentary troika of richly favored dishes. At least for lunch, Goorsha goes with individual plates rather than the traditional round platter family style so familiar in Ethiopian cuisine. It definitely worked for us given one of us was a vegetarian and the other all tibs all day. Definitely very glad to see it just across the street from Brightleaf Square and one of the earliest areas converted from tobacco warehouses to fashionable eateries. Glad it is part of the Durham eating scene.
