This spot is solid. If you're looking for food that's delicious, fresh, and won't make you question your life choices afterward, this is the place. The quality and portions are excellent--no skimpy skewers, no mystery meat. It genuinely reminds me of the Persian and Afghani kebab shops in Northern Virginia that know their way around a charcoal grill. Everything tastes clean, well-seasoned, and cooked with intention. A couple of small suggestions (because nothing is perfect): I'd love to see a wider variety of sauces for the kebabs, and personally, I'd prefer a larger piece of taftoon bread instead of the pita slices. That said--credit where it's due--the pita tastes fresh and not like it was pulled straight from a plastic bag, which already puts them ahead of most places. After enjoying Baba Ghannouj Mediterranean Bistro in Cary last week, my girl & I decided to explore another kebab/gyro restaurant in Cary, so we went to Kebab Skewer & dined in on a Saturday night. This is located close to Milklab, which I also reviewed here on Yelp. My girl ordered a gyro wrap, then the young adult cashier asked if we wanted to add fries & drink for additional $3+. She asked if she can swap the fries for another side: baba ghannouj, our favorite Mediterranean side dish, and the cashier said she can. The menu overhead is clear, so we didn't have trouble deciding what to order. I ordered the Kebab Platter - Double Skewer that comes with salad, rice, a tiny cup of tzatziki, a tiny cup of salad dressing, and pita bread. Platter costs $15.99 + additional $1.99 because I chose lamb kebab. We also ordered the 4-piece falafel & a lamb kofta skewer. Total cost was about $50+. As always, we tried each other's foods, split the falafel & lamb kofta. The lamb gyro wrap was delicious with fresh meat, lettuce, tomatoes, and tzatziki sauce. The few bites I had of the gyro were pure bliss; part of me wish I ordered a gyro wrap too, but I wanted us to have different orders. The baba ghannouj that came with her gyro was excellent unlike what we tried from Baba Ghannouj Mediterranean Bistro (BGM Bistro). The texture of the mashed eggplant and mix of spices were perfect, and the amount was good enough for the 2 of us to share. I also enjoyed my double skewer lamb kebab platter. The salad was fresh, the basmati rice wasn't as sopisticated as other spiced varieties but it went well with the lamb kebab, fresh from the grill. However, for an $18+ meal, wish it included another small side like baba ghannouj. BGM Bistro's platters let you choose 2 sides along with the rice and salad for about the same price, so you get more value there but the baba ghannouj tastes better here. Falafel is a good-tasting side, about the same quality as BGM Bistro's. It comes with tahini sauce. The lamb kofta skewer, which looks like a sausage, was well-spiced and went well with tzatziki. Our orders were served in less than 12 min, and we had to pick up our trays at the front when they were ready instead of bringing to our table. It looks like this is the kind of place that's better for take out than dine in as the ambiance isn't inviting. There was one area where the floor was left uncleaned and the dull illumination of the fluorescent lights inside doesn't make this restaurant ideal for a romantic date. We were somewhat satisfied with our dinner with the gyro and baba ghannouj being the highlights. Lamb kebab & lamb kofta tasted good but I don't think the whole platter is worth $18+. We might alternate BGM Bistro & this as each has their own pros & cons. Or we might explore another we haven't tried before. read more

Yum, just yum! I'm happy I've finally made my way to Kebab Skewer, and I'm sorry it took me this long to check it out. This place has got some tasty eats and I'm destined to go back and check out more menu items. For lunch. I grabbed a spicy chicken shawarma wrap, plus the two desserts pictured: homemade ma'amoul and baklava. Delicious! And very inexpensive compared to other restaurants (albeit, the baklava is on the smaller side). The spicy shawarma wrap was moist and consistently flavorful throughout. The bread was tasty and the ratio of ingredients was spot on. The deserts were crumbly (ma'amoul) and flaky (baklava), and sweet. The restaurant itself is a basic spot in a strip mall, geared more towards takeout. Lots of takeout ready for pickup when I was there around noon. The staff was super friendly and inviting, creating a great atmosphere. read more

Came here in a Saturday around 13o and we were the only ones. Not a good sign. It's a counter service place with typical seating. Nothing special. The food however was a different story. We had the kebab platters are they were well executed. Lamb and chicken were on point and the pita bread was the flat homemade variety that was very good. Was here for lunch on a weekday . You order at the counter. The menu is overhead and easy to read. You go back to the counter to get your order. There are 8 tables inside and one outside. You will have to pull tables together if there are more than 4 people in your group. I chose the gyro platter. The meat was seasoned well and put on a grill before serving but was not dried out. It was served over a huge portion of basmati rice that was done perfectly. A salad of fresh lettuces, tomatoes, cucumbers and onions was on the side with an unusual dressing and a piece of pita bread that was nice and warm. There was a small cup of taziki that was good. Only bottled tea, so I had water. The tables were clean and the decor was middle eastern. Price was good, so I will be back to try a kabob next time. read more

We all know that a lot of pictures that companies display never really represent there food, but this may be the grosses misrepresentation I've ever seen. Great food, good prices. The wait to get our order seemed way too long and we were the only ones in the resturaunt. It was pretty quiet and my friend and I were able to talk without having to fight over other voices. However the food is delicious here so the wait didn't bother me too much and I was not in a hurry. It came with the same sides as mine. He felt that it was just...meh as it really had no flavor. He said that it might as well have been rolled meatloaf for all he knew. This was one of the best meals me and my wife have ever had. We don't normally write reviews but we had to download Yelp for this - it was that good! The falafel was crispy and served with an incredible hummus, tzatziki and hot pita bread. The chicken shawarma was perfectly marinated and moist topped with a delicious garlic sauce. Even their tiramisu cake was fantastic! Generous portions and everything was very fresh and reasonably priced. The staff was nice and accommodated us making substitutions. This had become one of our regular lunch spots. The spicy chicken shwarma is freaking delicious! I always ask for extra garlic sauce - it makes the dish. The hummus is fantastic and has me craving more. The bread, rice, salad, gyro, and cheese steak all keep us coming back. My picky elderly dad even loved it! The last time we were there, an elderly couple was too. They obviously struggled with mobility. Instead of just calling out their completed order for pick-up, the staff left the kitchen and walked the food to their table. Came here on a Friday evening after someone recommended the restaurant. I ordered the lamb kebab platter. The lamb was very flavorful, I like it overdone on the outside and moist on the inside and a little charred so it worked great. The salad was very basic but the dressing was delicious. I happened upon this place while grabbing boba. I'm so glad I stopped in. Family owned and friendly, they have reasonable prices for delicious food. Our son picked this place wanting grape leaves, sorry they don't sell them. Pretty limited choices. We all had kabob platters. Hubby and son had beef kabob, rice and salad. They liked the koobideh just fine. My chicken kabob was burnt with charred black outside edges, served with an unimpressive salad. The bread which isn't pita and isn't naan, but a creation of their own was very good--the best part of the meal along with hummus. Staff very friendly and generous sending us home with more bread. The amazing reviews inspired us to come for lunch today. We chose the chicken kebab and the beef koobideh platters, both served with side salads, rice, freshly-baked bread and tzatziki. I also ordered a veggie kebab on the side. The meat was well spiced and perfectly cooked, the rice was tasty and the vegetables were cooked through, but still crisp and fresh. The bread was wonderful and fresh, but don't expect traditional pita. This was much thinner and slightly charred, similar to Indian naan. The service was terrific, especially for an order-at-the-counter restaurant. Tables were sanitized immediately after diners left, and our server checked on us several times. I took home about a third of my food, and the owner offered to bake more bread for me to take with me. Also, it's in a good, central Cary location. A fantastic place all around! read more

Had the triple skewer platter of chicken kebab, beef shish kebab and beef koobideh for 16.99 (without taxes). The platter comes with a salad, rice, bread tzaziki and vinaigrette dressing. Although the portion sizes were great, the rice was a bit moist and the salad was pretty bland even with the addition of the vinaigrette dressing. The bread was soft and it worked well with the kebabs and the tzaziki. All of the kababs had a char grilled appearance and among them, the beef shish reigned supreme. It was tender, juicy and emanated different kinds of flavors like cumin. The chicken kebab was just okay and the koobideh was a bit too dry. Overall, a good and filling meal. They have 5 tables with sufficient spacing for social distancing and the employees had their masks on. You get a free soda with check in. At the time of my visit, the guy in the counter was nice enough to allow it for me even without getting the confirmation from the app as it was not working properly in my case. read more

It pains me to write this review. As a Persian, it's super exciting to find a "Mediterranean" restaurant with more than just Lebanese and Greek food (which I love btw!). Kebab Skewer has a little of each with the focus being on Persian. To the average, person the menu will look like a bunch of kebabs with no respect to region. Persian spices/flavor is very distinct in its own right; different from Greek and Lebanese flavors. Regardless of the region, I would expect a shish kebab (whether steak, ground beef, chicken or lamb) to be tender, juicy and brimming with spices. I ordered takeout and GrubHub delivered it very quickly (within 30 mins). Every skewer with the exception of the grilled chicken was extremely dry and over cooked. So dry, in fact, that I had to coat it in the watery yogurt sauce to get it down. Here's the thing: I can deal with dry food if it means getting a taste of those yummy Persian spices but that was lacking as well. No taste of saffron, turmeric, parsley, onion - nothing. The rice was fluffy but I can tell it was re-steamed or old (perhaps from lunch). The salad and bread were both good. I don't think I'll be back because it doesn't seem like a bad fluke. Their recipes are just lacking flavor, let alone Persian flavor. Throw in the fact that it was I overcooked and not inexpensive; it's a "no" from me. So bummed. I remain on the hunt for good Persian food in the Triangle area. read more

This place is excellent to get koubideh and awesome Persian grilled meats. I have been longing for good Iranian food and finally I have found it in our backyard. I love the bread that they make to order for you it is hot and delicious. It's probably some of the best bread I've had in the area. Rice is done well too. They have quite a few Greek dishes as well.
