    Turkish Tea
    Ike N.

I saw this restaurant and realized I've never had authentic Turkish food so I had to come in and visit. The staff was pretty nice overall. They greeted us when we walked in and kept checking on us throughout the meal. The only issue I had was with the food. My girlfriend ordered a pepperoni pie and I ordered a pastrami pide. When I heard him repeat the order I told him that I got a pastrami pide. Of course when the food showed up, we were both given pepperoni pides. I called the server over and told him and he confirmed that it's what I ordered. I assumed maybe pepperoni looks similar to pastrami in Turkey (I couldn't know any better). However when I got the check it was clearly written that we were given 2 pepperoni pides. I'm assuming it's because of the language barrier, but I wish they tried harder to understand what I was saying instead of shaking their head yes to confirm and walking away each interaction. The food was really good though! While not what I wanted, the pepperoni pide was still good. I really enjoyed the complimentary Turkish tea as well. It's pretty much a really strong black tea. The hummus was good and tasted homemade, but wasn't anything too special. The olive oil looked better than it tasted, but still paired well with the bread (which was actually the most underrated part of the meal).

We were in the mood for lahmacun and found this spot! The cigar bourek were awesome and I would definitely come back to get those again. The uludag gazoz drink was also good. Really enjoyed this place!

Overall: Solid place, has really good portion and price point for today's restaurant prices. Would definitely come back again. Food: The food at Bosphorus is good. Simple, authentic Turkish food, without any unnecessary frills or additions. Got the gyro plate and enjoyed the portions, had enough for leftovers. Service: The service was great! The waiters are very attentive and come quickly to help refill or handle any questions. Ambiance: This is a casual sit-down restaurant. It has that restaurant buzz that comes from a busy restaurant.

Well were there for a quick Friday dinner with our daughter. It was our second time so we knew what to expect. There was wait although we were early. The space is a little congested and there is no space for waiting specially in winters. We were served with their famous freshly baked and very satisfying pita bread with a red sauce. We ordered, their appetizer called Ezmi, it was a bunch of veggies grated and mixed and tasted pretty okay, not worth $10, considering the portion. For main course chicken Doner kabab and chicken sheesh kabab. Chicken doner kabab, was the ground chicken kabab which tasted great with their pilaf( rice), salad and a Mediterranean sause. Sheesh kabab was tender white chicken breast perfectly marinated with spices and tasted amazing. Loved our entrees. There is no kids menu and no alcohol allowed also the food is halal. Service is quick. Not the best experience but great for occasional visits to enjoy the Mediterranean flavours.

Really good food and the establishment is clean. The only issue I have is with service. Everytime I come in, it seems that people shmooz with the host and they skip people in order. Either they are friends of the owner or friends with whomever is at the stand. I've noticed that and have had to speak up because I can tell people are skipping line for a table.

We have been coming her for over 12 years. It is the best Turkish restaurant in the area. They offer so many fresh and healthy options for all palettes. Plenty of vegetarian as well as meat dishes. The lentil soup, meze platter, and Greek salad are amazing starters. The fresh bread with dipping sauce is fantastic. The yoghurt kebab is one of my favorites and you can get doener on the weekend. Service is always great and seating is casual. We love this family business and come here as often as we can!

    Vegetable pide

Bosphorus is a go-to restaurant for my family and I. They have great service, and freshly made bread/oil as a free appetizer. The kebabs or gyro platters are always a great choice, but this time I tried their vegetable pide. The bread was soft and fluffy, and the toppings were delicious-- a cheesy, savory alternative to the kebabs. Highly recommend for authentic and delicious Turkish food!

I came in on a Sunday evening. While it was busy with a lot of diners, I didn't have to wait for a table. They gave me bread and a water after I placed my order. It didn't take very long for my order to be brought over to my table, which was nice considering they had a lot of people coming in and out for takeaways and online orders as well as dine-in patrons. I ordered the chicken kebab plate. The chicken was tender and packed with flavor. Everything on the plate was delicious and perfect to satiate my hunger after I've just played tennis for 4 hours! The staff were polite and checked in on me at least once to make sure everything was good. Service was quick and without a hassle. I would definitely come back again in the future.

Yum!! I got the falafel plate with a side of fries and everything was delicious. The serving size is great and I had leftovers for the next day. There is plenty of seating and the service was quick. They also have complementary turkish tea- which I had never had before and it was a great way to end a delicious meal. I will definitely be coming back

Great food. Fast service. Well priced. Complimentary tea at the end of dinner was a nice touch. Will come back the next time we're in Cary. Our daughter loved the pide. Also enjoyed their salads, lentil soup, and kofta kabob plate.

    Is this a BYOB restaurant?

Yes. They don't serve alcohol. We have brought in a bottle of wine before. They can't touch or open the bottle for you. They'll bring you a bottle opener and water glasses. Their food is so good, it's worth it plus it's cheaper!

I usually order the two chicken skewer kabobs with rice, a super salad, and the jalapeño cilantro hummus. The hummus is *so* good that I often grab a small container to take with me when I travel. Everything tastes incredibly fresh, and you can really tell they use quality ingredients, especially with olive oil as a base. They offer both fresh pita and gluten-free pita, which is great for anyone with dietary restrictions. Honestly, I could make a meal just out of all the sides--they're that good. The menu is consistently solid, and I feel like you really can't go wrong with anything you order. It's a perfect spot for a low-key lunch or dinner. Also worth noting: on Tuesdays, kids eat free with a paying adult, which is a great bonus for families. Highly recommend!

Overall, it's a good place with plenty of options and great portion sizes.

Service is very friendly, and as quick as possible, considering that stuff seems to be made to order. I ordered a chicken kebab platter which comes over a bed of basmati rice, possibly with saffron. Whatever the rice tasted great and it wasn't dry like at a lot of places. The chicken was marinated in a tangy yogurt-spice mix, grilled and topped with a tahini sauce. Delicious! As sides I got mujadara and roasted vegetables which were also tasty. I'll be back for takeout for sure in the future.

"Bodega-like Mediterranean Grill & Grocery in Parkwood area of Durham"…read more This place is WAY off the beaten path for most, but I'm so happy to have gotten to try it out. Nestled in a little strip between a Muslim school and a mosque is this grill and grocery. We came on a Wednesday evening, and almost every table was already taken by diners. You order your food at a counter, and it has the Middle Eastern foods you'd expect-- kofta, shawarma, gyros, falafel, baba ghanouj, hummus, baklava, etc. I opted for the lamb gyro sandwich with a side of baba ghanouj, and my dining partner had the falafel sandwich. They call your number when it's ready. Food took maybe 10 minutes to receive, so we browsed the market area. It's not a huge selection, but very traditional-- nice seeing so many labels in Arabic, and along with standards (e.g., canned fava beans for Ful Medames), they also had things like frozen chopped mulukhiyah leaves-- that's definitely a rarer sight. Lots of good spices too. The food was EXCELLENT. The lamb was juicy and perfect (unlike what another Yelp review said), the tzatziki sauce was delicious, and the baba ghanouj was perfectly cooked and textured. I had a small bite of the falafel, and it was indeed one of the best I've had in the US. Price was fair, too-- the sandwiches are all under $10 before tax and tip, and making it a combo with side and drink cost just something like $2.50. And service was friendly-- although they called out numbers, they did walk out with the food to try to find and bring you your dishes. And while it was an older space, it was overall still generally clean. Overall, I'd VERY happily come back.

The whipped feta was my favorite, topped with strawberry jam and absolutely delicious. We ended up ordering an extra basket of bread ($7.50) because we ran out quickly. The bulgur salad was hands down the best thing I ate all night. I'll return for that alone and will probably order a second one to-go for lunch the next day. It had some kind of crunchy element that made the texture incredible. For our main, we had the short rib. The flavors were excellent and I can see why it's so highly reviewed. That said, at $48, I'm not sure the portion size justified the price. We each had two relatively small pieces and some vegetables. Drink-wise, I ordered the espresso martini ($18). It was a fantastic espresso martini, one of the better ones I've had, but again, the size made the price feel a little steep. My spouse ordered the Old Fashioned, which was also excellent and came with a nice orange twist. The restaurant itself is very cute inside with great décor and interesting seating areas. The back patio is beautiful, and according to owner Paul (who was incredibly friendly), they're opening a boat bar and outdoor kitchen, which sounds like it will make the space even better! The only reason I didn't rate the ambiance higher was that it felt a little warm inside during our visit. However, it sounded like they were dealing with a power-related issue, and with the unusually hot weather we've been having, I suspect the older building was having a hard time keeping up. It wouldn't keep me from returning, but I'd probably wait until the fall just in case. I worry as it gets hotter this summer it may always be a little warm. Our total for two people, an appetizer, salad, entrée, and two alcoholic drinks, was about $140 including tax, plus a 3% credit card surcharge (before tip). I'll definitely be back for the bulgur salad and to check out the outdoor space this fall! A boat bar sounds so cool! Parking: Street parking, a small side lot, or neighboring business lots after 5 PM!
