Time and time again, this is my favorite all you can eat sushi place in Philadelphia. The fish is fresh, and the appetizers have great variety. My personal favorites include the salmon and white tuna sashimi. I also enjoy the tiger roll and the general Tso chicken. Prices are cheaper on Tuesday-Thursday, and about $30 between Friday-Sunday. The service is very quick, and the owner is always super friendly with a smile on her face. I also appreciate that it is BYOB. Overall, my husband and I are repeat visitors here. Not only is it an affordable AYCE sushi spot, but there's also a wide variety of options. We visit at least once or twice a month--that's how much we enjoy it. The weekday AYCE deals are especially great. Service can depend on when you go; it's usually attentive, but on weekends or during popular weekday AYCE times, it may take a bit longer to be attended to due to how busy it gets. My review will be based on the food and value presented at Nagomi. We had back to back nights at the Keswick and chose to go to Nagomi for pre concert dinner (given we went back a second night, you probably know where I am headed!). Parking is not great in 'downtown Glenside'. The restaurant decor and ambiance is *not* why you come to Nagomi. The staff works hard - zipping around at high speed. We tried 6 different rolls - mostly special rolls - as well as some sashimi. The sashimi slices were impressive - biggest I've ever had and fresh. The rolls were ALL great. The prices and about 20-25 percent lower than every other sushi restaurant I've been to the last couple of years. Better service than it was in the past and now that we get the hang of the experience of it since we have bee coming here- we are pros! Sushi rolls are tasty and quite huge! You have the option to order off the menu or from the AYCE menu so that's good but people who choose the regular menu cannot eat anything that the people who chose the AYCE have. Came in last night with a party of 5 were seated right away around 630pm. Was a bit crowded but had friendly and helpful service. Daughter ordered off the regular menu because she wouldn't eat enough to get the $30 money worth that the AYCE price is since she's 12. The rest of us got the AYCE and gorged ourselves on crab rangoon which is my favorite, tempura, and sushi rolls, the more sushi rolls and more Rangoon. We overheard someone from another table say wow that's a lot of sushi! And we laughed. Afterwards as we were eating our ice cream stuffed like fat piggies we weren't laughing though cause we felt like our stomachs were protruding through our pants. I bet they didn't think we'd eat like that. On top of that it's BYOB and we had wine. It's definitely a nice spot. I just wish they had more desserts. Just moved to the Glenside area and quickly discovered my new favorite sushi place to satisfy my Japanese food crave. So far, I've only ordered from their take-out lunch menu and it's been on point. After finishing the appetizer, waitress gave us the bill without bringing the rest of the meal. First time that has ever happened to me. She then brought the Hibachi Steak with Fried Rice. There was an up-charge for the Fried Rice. It was good, steak could have been less fatty. Few pieces I wouldn't eat as it was mostly grizzle. Okay so I did the all you can eat and was disappointed. First, they make their rolls way too big with too much rice. So after the first roll you're feeling heavy and sluggish. The portion sizes are too big for an all you can eat. When I do these all you can eat places, I like smaller portions so I can try a little bit of everything. However, Nagomi just over stuffs You with rice so you don't order as much. I ordered a spider roll and it was a chicken tempura roll, but the server tried to tell me otherwise. They did mess up my order and tried to give me sushi rolls I didn't order. I wouldn't come back for all you can eat, because it wasn't worth it to me. Please consider making your portion sizes smaller and don't make your rolls so big!!! True Japanese restaurant would make everything small. Also, the music they were playing inside was not Japanese at all. It was stupid main stream pop music, which honestly killed the atmosphere for me. Me and my wife come here on average once a week, to the point that when we haven't been in a while they worry about us. The service makes us feel so at home and comfortable. Got this through door dash. Bugs in soup and found bugs in my soup container. Many many of them. One is gross let alone a dozen or more floating in your food. I tried to reach out to the establishment and left a VM to have a discussion first but they did not return my call. I was very disappointed because we have ordered food here in the past without issue. However this does make me question their food storage practices. This was first ayce sushi experience. My friend love this place so it was the perfect spot for his birthday dinner. The price is $21.95 per person. There are limits on how much sashimi you can get but that didn't impact us. Restaurant is BYOB. Soda and ice tea are available to purchase by the can. Water was automatically served and put water glasses were refilled often. The place is much smaller then I anticipated. There is an area with booths when you walk in and then regular tables and chairs in another room. I have bad back and these booths were really flimsy. Anytime the people behind me moved I got shaken around significantly. I'm sure I did the same to them. Next time I'll definitely sit on the other side. We ordered round one of our food. First appetizers came out. I didn't take photos because the presentation wasn't much to show. We really liked the coconut chicken, rock shrimp and shumi. Our favorite was the crab salad. At other sushi places this tends to have a kick to it but not here. They had thing sliced cucumbers mixed in with crab which gave it a great crunch! Food service was ok. Servers spoke minimal English so if you had questions it might be an issue but that didn't apply to us. Sushi came out. It looked nicely presented but the quality was less than that of my regular sushi place. It still tasted great and the avocado was fresh. I just felt like some of the tuna and salmon were minced in an a way that made them not look as appetizing as I'm used too. Also we ordered a Philadelphia roll and for some reason it was brought out separately and much later then our main plate of sushi, very odd. Tip: you do not have to put everything you want on your first order slip. They will give you new ones and you can add on anything you would like. This helps to insure you don't over order because they do charge for wasted food, I don't know what the charge is but there is a note on the bottom of the order sheet. Been here a few times now for their acye sushi. For those who aren't looking to stuff themselves with as much sushi as possible, they have an a la carte menu as well. Honestly a no frills, you get what you order sushi place. ayce is around 40 dollars per person and the best part is they offer sashimi so you don't have to fill up on just rice and rolls. Fish quality isn't the best but certainly is decent for what you pay for. Plenty of varieties on both the sushi menu and the kitchen menu. The staff is always friendly and attentive. Nagomi is a popular Japanese eatery in the charming village of Keswick right outside of Northwest Philadelphia. It is concentrating on takeout during the pandemic and loyal fans are keeping it afloat. I recently felt like eating Japanese so I decided to order one of their takeout Bento boxes. It was for the most part a good choice although not in all aspects. The red snapper teriyaki which was the main course was both moist and flavorful. It was served on a nice bed of onions and veggies. The California rolls were a bit of a disappointment to me - way too soft and even difficult to keep together. I also didn't fully appreciate what they called the shumai salad (it seemed just a mishmash of things and where were the shumai?) but I didn't dislike it and ate it all. The rice portion was generous. My meal began with a Japanese onion soup. All this was for about nine dollars which was a good value and elevates the rating. I next have to try the sushi & sashimi and see if I like them as much as some Yelpers. btw - the precautions Nagomi took during the pandemic were excellent and totally in tune with safety precautions. read more

I've really only ever had sushi here, but their sushi is okay. They have the dreaded soggy seaweed issue so many sushi joints in the Philly area seem to have. Their selection is about on par with other places as well. Due to their location they're almost always packed, even early in the day, and that has deterred me from coming more often. Woah! On my birthday, driving back down from Bucks County, I figured I didn't plan a dinner so grabbed something on the way. The two sheets of paper may make it seem like they have a small selection, but with the appetizers, desserts, noodles, specialty rolls, and sushi, basically I got to try everything I wanted plus more. The katsu was fried up super quickly and the chicken and pork were both amazing. The shrimp shu mai were hot and crispy right from kitchen. Everything came out just when we finished the last item, and the plating and roll size were perfect. the waitresses were kind and when customers came in to pick up their orders, they would talk and smile and one would even say that she left a surprise in the bag for a recurring customer. The sweet potato rolls are heavenly, served semi warm which came as a complete surprise to me but the reason for 4 stars... the California rolls. California rolls are usually a popular roll that I've had at just about every sushi place or place that sells sushi and have been pretty good but the ones here they were just ok.
