Found this cute location for Nagoya pastries. Bought several items and a delicious looking cake bread that was so oven fresh the lady didn't want to seal the bag. Well. It was delicious. I called her in the PM to get the name of this delight but unfortunately. She and I couldn't communicate effectively. So I called the Mililani location to find out if they also make it there. The English speaking person and I used my description to determine that is called Sweet Cake. This item is made daily at the Aiea location but not at Mililani. However... it can be ordered! A small little place with some good pastries. The lady there is friendly. Just wanted to see what this place is like. The patries is good.

We stopped in recently to try this place after smelling the heavenly fresh baked bread smell while walking by one day. We purchased the azuki bread loaf, the sponge cake and an ensamada. Everything was very good! But the one thing I keep craving again, and would go back for, was the azuki bean loaf. That loaf is pillowy soft and loaded with streaks of azuki filling throughout the loaf. This Waiamalu location is super small and a bit limited in what they sell. But I do recommend you stop by and support this cute little bakery shop. read more

The azuki bean bread is super yummy and is always fresh. Usually go to the Mililani location but first time to this location. This will probably be the first and last time. Don't get me wrong, their bakery stuff is delicious (like their azuki bean bread and custard tart), but customer service is a huge deal so they get one star. Didn't appreciate when asking if got more azuki bean bread to get a response sounding like you're getting yelled at and scolded. "SOLD OUT!!!!" A cute little Asian bakery with lots of yummy treats! It doesn't offer super sugary sweets like typical American bakeries - no cupcakes or doughnuts. Instead they have items geared towards more Asian palates. We stopped here on a whim and picked up tons of goodies from a loaf of Azuki bread, custard buns, soft cake and still warm white lotus pastries! Everything was really high quality and you can tell they bake everything fresh. After 4 PM they offer a buy 2 get 1 free deal on some of the baked goods. Selection can be limited but it's still nice to get a deal on some dough :-) read more

Located in the little shopping strip across from Best Buy Aiea, this bakery has pastries that are from Chinese/Cantonese recipes. The prices for them are reasonable and they taste good. The parking is shared with other businesses and can get busy. read more

A friend just gave me a soft, fresh loaf of bread and I didn't know what flavor it was until I cut it open and took a bite. Coconut!! Absolutely delish - delicate, fresh, soft and I could eat the whole loaf in one sitting but I won't. I'm going to try some as French toast too! read more

Went around 4:00pm today. Not much selection left but worker said that it was buy 2 get 1 free so decided to get the coconut raisin bun, soft cake, and a chocolate snow bun. We don't really know what all three of the pastries are and it felt a little awkward to ask questions so got what we thought we would like to try. It came out to $5.11 for all three pastries. These breads are not air tight sealed so make sure you plan to eat them the day of. Soft cake - bottom is like a slightly sweet pound cake with a small layer or jelly and then some eggy topping part. I didn't like this one at all. Took one bite and had to stop. Coconut raisin bun - slight coconut flavor. Need a little more inside to make it tastier. You can feel the texture of the coconut while eating but the flavor isn't there like I would have liked. Chocolate snow bun - has chocolate custard with some nuts in it in the middle. Tastes chocolate-y and has the most flavor or all three. Conclusion - probably will not be back anytime soon. Couldn't finish any of the pastries and even split them all with a friend. read more

Review #209 - 2019 After the guys got their drinks & finally finished up their conversation, I was kind of hungry since I hadn't eaten yet & it was already 3 PM so I needed to find something to tie me over until dinner. We walked around and saw the buns from the window display so I decided to walk inside to check out what else they had. When we walked in, the lady didn't bother to greet us. I guess she probably gets lots of customers who just walk in & leave without making any purchase. Either way, a little friendliness or simple smile doesn't kill a person. I ended up buying myself a BBQ pork bun, which I thought was ok. There was just too much onions compared to what I normally get on the mainland. The sausage with corn & cheese was actually really good, in my opinion. My daughter ate all the sausages. My son got the hot dog bun, which he said was just ok. My niece got the custard bun & an egg tart, which she seemed to enjoy. The buns are actually very nice & soft. I expected them to be kind of dry since it's located out in the middle of nowhere. I guess one shouldn't judge a book by its cover. I'd say it's about a 3.5-star for the pastries, but I decided not to bump it up to a 4 since the lady could be a little friendlier. read more

Extremely rude, poor customer service. First time I ever yelled at someone and actually swore at them. I didn't read any reviews since going here was a request from a friend who wanted the azuki bread. It's no excuse to yell at customers for not understanding what they are saying and yelling makes it more difficult if you have a thick Chinese accent. I simply asked for the azuki bread and she YELLS at me "turnturnturn" so I say oh sorry and I turn around and I don't see the bread. So I said can I get the azuki bread and that's when she calmed down and said "turn" then was I able to understand she meant "ten". If she didn't initially yell "ten" 3 to 4 times mashed up into one word, would I then have been able to understand. I decide to grab the smaller items. She starts to place it in a paper sleeve and I explained it's for 2 different people, a gift. If I can please get a box for it. 4 and 4 in each box. She tells me no. I must fit minimum 6 to get the box. So I told her I'll pay for the box. And she yells no. By now I'm fuming, I swore at her, then she grabs another box, I didn't know it was a smaller box, and then stares at me. I tell her just put it all in a box however and she yells at me only 4 go in here and I'm like "what the F" I just asked you to box it 4 and 4. I don't even want to try the stinkin bread. read more

I will give 5 starts for the bread because taste good and me and my family are love it. But will give 0 stars to the customers service which is the cashier, bad attitude and when you ask for more bread because there is no more on the shells, she will show you really unhappy and unlike face to get for you, if she is boss, they should change the service, if she is employees, boss need to replace her. The lady that sells the pastries has HORRIBLE MANNERS and treats the customers badly. She scolds the customers in a belittling and condescending manner. She never thanks you or acknowledges you if you return. Although their products are good, her atrocious service overshadows everything. Love the adzuki bread & buns. Prior to mid 2022, we stopped patronizing this bakery due to the caustic cashier. After a few visits when we REALLY wanted to eat the adzuki bread & she wasn't there, we finally figured out she was probably gone for good - so now we go there without hesitation! Good omiyage for neighbor islands. Call ahead to reserve if you plan to pick up in the afternoon (in case they sell out). The last I heard, the bread comes out around 9:30-10:00 am but not sure if that's still the case. read more

I went there on 2/19/22, the lady was so rude. She does not smile and she kept looking at me with her eyes saying "Hurry Up". Then she told me are you ready? I said NO. When I asked her if I could call tomorrow to see if you have Manapua she said don't call. You can come tomorrow. No customer service at all. I used to go to the Mililani location but decided to try this location because it is close to my home. I spent over $100 buying Azuki loaves, pastries and manapua for my friends, family and neighbors but I will never go to this location again. The lady in the front didn't want to give me boxes or bags even though I told her I was giving it away to different people. She said I didn't need bags and was very rude. This was the first time visiting this bakery and I was anticipating really tasty goods. The baked items were so so: square sponge cake, cream buns, Hongkong bun. It was almost 5:00 pm and the items were not on sale. Asked the cashier lady and she acted like she knew nothing about it. The taste was so so, the buns were too chewy. First time going to this Pearl City location. They are almost always out of bakery items at Ka Makana location when I've gone. I got an assortment of items and they were all tasty. My only criticism is the lady who works the register isn't very welcoming. She's very curt in her replies and is actually kinda scary to deal with. Alright I just happened to pass by this tiny little bakery during my lunch break while going to Palama and the thought of baked goods just really tickled my fancy. I ended up walking inside and getting WAY more than I had intended. I got the red bean Azuki loaf bread which is so much cheaper if you buy the entire loaf, but they also sell them in mini individual sized, which in hind-sight might have been a better idea because this bread is SO addicting I ate the entire loaf that day haha. I also got the ham and cheese bread and it just really hit the spot. So tasty and not too salty, and priced really well. I also got the some other small pastries just to try them and they were all so yummy. I really love randomly falling into these small mom and pop shops because you are just pleasantly surprised with what you will find without having any expectations or opinions from others. The lady behind the counter is always super friendly and sweet to my 2 yo daughter. My only complaint is that they close early so I have to drive like a maniac after work to make sure I can get there to get my fix . The bread/pastry is soft and light. I don't have a major sweet tooth so I appreciate that the pastries are not overly sweet. We love the char siu bao--lots of meat filling, snow buns--the custard is creamy and slightly eggy like Chinese custard, the cake roll--pound cake wrapped like a jelly roll. We didn't care for the Portuguese egg tarts--they weren't sweet enough for our liking. But most everything else we've tried has been delicious! My daughter's favorite is the 3-piece ham and cheese bun--she doesn't share. read more
