This is the place to get the best Spanish rolls in my opinion. Yes, it's buttery and oily, but really good especially when it's warm from the back! They usually grab the fresh Spanish rolls like the pandesol from the back when ordering a dozen. They have variety of pastries and bake goods. I even like the Ube Pandesol with cream cheese filling. Although the kapahulu's location has more parking and space for more pastries, it's nice to have a location in Kalihi especially near my church when able to go. I used to go to the previous bakery, Paul Pastry Shop! It was there for many of years. My former coworker mentioned she used to use to make pandesol ice cream sandwich when she was growing up in the Philippines. I thought ice cream in a bread/bun! I didn't think it would be good until I tried it and it was actually good. The pandesol held in the ice cream well and pandesol soaked the ice cream in the bread! When it's warm, I could eat it plain and have more than one at a time! So soft! The parking can be challenging like the parking for Iskand Manapua down the street. I just go in when I see an available stall. Usually early morning is not as busy then at lunch time. They have many other items but those are the items that I usually get. read more

What's your favorite... With Spanish Rolls to Puto they have a lot to choose from and after fasting for my lab work at Clinical Labs right across the street in Kalihi Medical Building which made it just a bit too convenient I just had to give them a visit. The ladies there are very nice but was trying to sell me a lot of items that wasn't displayed in the front area and just stared at every movement I make making the vibe feeling uneasy though with just so much to choose from I just made a quick decision for the Pineapple loaf and Puto I haven't tried the loaf but sounded like a great shareable item while Puto is something that I do love and decided to give them a try...though one thing I didn't like is I didn't know any of the prices so it was all a surprise. Another thing you do need is bring your own bag...they charge for everything a single plain brown paper bag was $0.26 aiiiiii! Decent baked goods, but customer service and parking need improvement I stopped by Nanding's in Kalihi around 6:30 AM to grab some baked goods. Parking is a bit of a challenge. There are only four stalls in front, and only three were usable when I arrived. Not ideal if you're in a rush or visiting during peak hours. When I walked in, there was one customer ahead of me placing her order. She mentioned it was her first time there and asked a few questions, but the employee helping her was noticeably rude, rolling her eyes and saying, "Are you done now?" It was uncomfortable to witness. I waited patiently behind the woman, but once she finished, the employee skipped over me and helped a man who had arrived after me. When I finally got to order, her tone was curt: "What do you want?" Not exactly welcoming. As for the baked goods: - Spanish rolls were the standout--fresh, soft, and flavorful. - Arabiki & lupcheong bun was soft but lacked flavor. - Corned beef roll was also pretty bland. Overall, the bread itself is soft and reasonably priced, which is a plus. I'll likely return for the Spanish rolls, but this won't be a regular stop for me. I've supported this business for years. But today, 11/17/25 at approximately 4pm, I was not impressed at all. I bought the ube roll, dozen Spanish rolls, and puto with flan. I wanted to share with my friend and asked for a small paper bag. I understand it cost to run a business in today's economy, but to charge 16 cents for a small paper bag is ridiculous!!!! There wasn't that rich, nutty depth or vibrant sweetness that makes ube desserts memorable. It felt more "middle of the road" than crave-worthy. Not disappointing enough to regret the visit, but not exciting enough to rush back for seconds either. I came on a weekend morning and the parking situation was a little tight. This is in the middle of a neighborhood so you have to park near the residential places. The store is pretty small up front so expect to wait very close to other patrons. I ordered the Portuguese sausage bun, half a dozen Spanish bread, Ube rolls, and a Pianomo roll. A cultural gem in Kalihi as evidenced by the constant stream of customers before 7:00 am. This bakery has been here for decades baking the same delicious Filipino bake goods for the community. It's tiny, but, when you step in you enter a different world. Smiling faces of the staff greets you and you feel delighted to know that soon you'll leave with goodies. Tried the two staples of Filipino baked goods and 1 unique pastry: Fresh Pandesal and Butter Roll, and Spanish or Senorita Bread. The pandesal was good a 3/5 and the butter roll a 2/5. The butter roll didn't have the butter throughout the roll. The Spanish bread is very similar to Starbread's (in California 5/5) offering, a 3/5. It was flat and the sugar to butter ratio was too much butter. They were fresh, tasty, warm and filling. The butter was soaking through the paper bags so use caution where you place you baked goodies. Limited Parking is available in front of the bakery. read more

When it gets crowded parking can be tough. There's only 4 stalls in front of their building and some street parking. The inside is literally a case of treats and only enough space for a single file line. They accept credit cards and their pricing is ridiculously cheap.
