Talk about great timing for avoiding the possibility of any sunburns. This was just my second beach side wedding experience, so it is a very real risk. The wind was a silent participant, blowing the bride's veil as it wished, and then declining to blow when it would have been helpful. Nothing Oceanview could do about this. More of a warning to future brides with an eye to an outdoor wedding. The outdoor wedding ceremony space is covered in fake grass and faces the rocky beach. So it is safe for heels. But anyone planning a walk on the beach should be aware. Parking is along the beach side of the road as their across the street neighbor is a golf course that needs its own parking spots as well. Stairs lead to the lobby of The Oceanview, where a two stall ladies room resides. However, the indoor party space is all up on the second level, up a flight of stairs, where the cocktail hour was set up in a room to the left, down a couple of steps. The open bar at the end had printed drink menus which included mocktail options. The room also opened to an outdoor patio where smokers were welcomed with ashtrays. There was a boat of jumbo shrimp cocktail and shucked shellfish, and passed appetizers, of which the short rib quesadilla was my favorite. Later, doors opened to the space to the right, to expose a grand dining room. Everything looked nice. Indeed it is a pleasant setting for a wedding! Water and champagne toasts were already poured out, with one empty wine glass apiece for us to pour our choice of white or red. The champagne was a nice one. An assorted bread basket arrived warm with seasoned swirls of butter, followed shortly by the salad course. Which in our case was a tasty spinach salad with fresh sliced pear, goat cheese, dried cranberries and walnuts. My entree was short rib, served as two hearty slices of tender beef on a bed of pilaf, and 4 spears of asparagus. I later discovered an assortment of desserts displayed in the cocktail room along with self serve coffee and tea. Whole sliced cakes, along with mini cakes, cream puffs, cannoli, and cookies. The cake was tender, and perhaps was the same cake base as the wedding cake which was lastly served. Our drink glasses were cleared from the tables all too soon. It left me without water to drink when enjoying my slice of wedding cake that I retrieved from the corner under a screen with the wedded pair's names, and still dancing guests without a way to sooth their parched throats.

Plenty of picture options with the beach as a backdrop. A little tough to get to, parking was easy and well organized. A great option for a wedding location if you're looking.

It is highly regrettable that not only I, but also my significant other, family, and other vendors…read morehad to endure the complete unprofessionalism, poor communication, and discourtesy from both you and your staff. From the very first day I visited the venue, I was informed that several modifications were being made prior to my scheduled event. However, I was never updated that these changes were not occurring, which was the initial indication of the communication breakdown. I had to reach out to the venue a second time to confirm the event date and other details. As the event date approached, I had not finalized any food menu nor signed the contract. I had to make several calls before I could speak with someone to receive the menu and options. You later mentioned that they had entered my email incorrectly, and after I provided my email again via text, I still did not receive the menus or contract. I ultimately had to visit the venue in person, as I no longer felt comfortable communicating through email or text. During my meeting with you and Jacklyn, whom you mentioned was new, it became evident that there was a lack of communication between the two of you. The way you addressed her in front of me and my significant other was entirely unprofessional. It was also apparent that she was new and you had not given her the knowledge of how the business runs, as she had to frequently consult you for answers to my questions. However she was the nicest person we dealt with there. This included inquiries about both the back green room and our bar preferences. Specifically, we requested that the green room be empty, and we were assured it would be, yet it was not. On the day of the event, the room was filled with furniture and storage chairs stacked inside. Rather than attempting to accommodate the situation and understand, you offered excuses, explaining that it was not your fault but rather the fault of your new hire, and that you had been up until 4 AM for the previous event. Meanwhile, my event was just a few hours away. We were told that the children would receive juice boxes, but they did not. Additionally, we were promised a mimosa bar would be set up, but on the day of the event, nothing was prepared. When asked if there were any specific drinks we wanted, we requested sangria and margaritas, along with a particular drink for which we provided specific ingredients. They claimed to have all the ingredients except grapefruit juice, which they assured us they could obtain without issue. However, on the day of the event(just hours beforehand), there was absolutely no mimosa bar. The bartender did not have grapefruit juice or the necessary ingredients. I was informed that this was a fully stocked bar. While my family was preparing for the event, I was made aware that you exhibited a complete lack of professionalism and were exceedingly rude to everyone involved in the setup. My family and event planners could hear the shouting directed at the bartender, who was in her office and in the kitchen, just an hour prior to the event. This was once again very uncomfortable and unprofessional. After we attempted to resolve the initial issue with the green room not being vacated, we encountered the problem with the bar, which we then tried to address. However, the unprofessional behavior persisted among the entire staff. I received multiple complaints regarding the bartender's rudeness. He also took it upon himself to close the bar before 2 o'clock. He claimed he had already informed patrons that last call was at 1:58, despite the fact that our contract stipulated we had the venue until three. Once again, there was a complete absence of communication between the you/staff and myself. Additionally, several family members and friends reported that the serving staff were also quite rude when inquiries were made. It is regrettable that this venue is exceptionally beautiful; however, the lack of communication and professionalism significantly detracted from our experience. Many guests praised the beauty of the venue, but I regrettably informed them that I would never consider booking this venue again. There were additional minor points I could mention, but ultimately it came down to you and this business being a poor communicators and unorganized. This is the email I sent to the owner nilzelia santos who was also the point of contact and the main one giving excuses. Not worth your money. She hasn't even responded which goes to show you how much she cares. I'm sure bad review will get a reply tho.

When it did, the children's meals were cold, French fries were frozen and not edible. The adult food was also not fresh. The salad was already dressed with a dressing that tasted like dirty dish water. The person in charge clearly was not organized and turned to the hosts to distribute meals for kids and to carry a sheet cake. I'm thinking that there should be waitstaff to do this and for the money that the hosts paid for this facility they should NOT have had to do these tasks. This is why they had their party at a function hall....so they could entertain and be with their guests! Unless the Bayside gets a new party coordinator and a new caterer I would NEVER have a party/function here.

They were unnecessarily rude, unpleasant, and incredibly difficult to deal with. The way we were treated was completely unprofessional and made an already demanding event far more stressful than it needed to be. Save yourself the aggravation--and your money--and look elsewhere. Yasmen's message (In case it's deleted Later) & my response below: Business owner information Yasmene D. Business Owner Aug 28, 2026 Hi JL: Funny I don't have any clients with those initials. I'm sorry that you may have confused us with another business or perhaps have nothing better to do then try to destroy reputations for small businesses that have stood the test of time since 1987, all from behind a screen. Wishing you the day you deserve. Kindly, Yasmene My Response: Yasmene, Your response is both surprising and disappointing. Rather than asking for additional information or attempting to identify the customer and circumstances involved, you immediately concluded that I must either have confused your business with another one or have "nothing better to do" than try to damage your reputation. I can assure you that I know exactly which business I reviewed, and my review was based on my personal experience. The fact that you do not recognize my initials does not mean that I was never a customer. Your response, particularly "wishing you the day you deserve," speaks for itself and unfortunately reinforces the concerns that prompted my review in the first place. For the record, I have no interest whatsoever in "destroying" your business. But if anything ultimately damages the reputation of a business that has been around since 1987, it will not be one customer sharing an honest experience--it will be the way the owner chooses to treat customers, respond to criticism, and conduct herself publicly. A more professional response would have been to ask me to contact you privately so that you could verify the details and address my concerns. Instead, you chose to attack my credibility publicly. I stand by my review, and your response has only given prospective customers additional information with which to form their own opinion.
