House Signature Chinese Sauerkraut Flavor (Spicy)
    Bevano L.

Got their House Signature Chinese Sauerkraut fish and their braised pork belly. They are both flavorful and nicely done. Portion wise the pork belly is a little smaller than what I expected, which makes it expensive for its portion. For the Sauerkraut, you may want to add vegetables as their accompaniments are more for flavoring purposes. They charge 3% if using credit card and I think their tip recommendation is applying the % based on the total cost, including tax and credit card fees. So be mindful about that

It was mediocre, unfortunately. I really wanted to enjoy the sour and spicy fish dish but it packed fish meat, and the flavor was more sour than anything. Got a side order of their popcorn chicken, very delicious! Unfortunately though, it came after the fish dish, so it wasn't exactly an appetizer at that point. The place is very clean and quiet, when we went, there were only two other parties, it was not packed at all.

Addictive! Salt Pepper Fired Fish Fillet is 5 out of 5 stars.

Hubby was in the mood for Chinese food, so I used my trusty Yelp to find a place we hadn't visited and found Nai Brother in Edison. The area looked familiar to us, and we realized it was the space next door where Tiger Sugar had been when it first opened before moving over into H-Mart, in Edison. After eating here, I feel this place is a true hidden gem at a very reasonable price for the dishes. This Chinese restaurant is famous for their sauerkraut fish. I was not in the mood for that because my eczema had flared, and I could not take things very spicy, and that dish had two chilli peppers next to it on the menu. Knowing this place is known for its seafood, we chose Signature Steam Fish Dumplings and Salt Pepper Fired Fish Fillet. From their handmade dumpling section, we chose their Signature Steam Fish Dumplings. Succulent fish with thick skin was exceptional. The fish gave it a more delicate taste, and it was a perfect pairing with our main entree, Salt Pepper Fired Fish Fillet, which was delicate and moist but packs a flavor punch! The young gentleman who was the host was also our waiter. He later told us if we ever wanted to tame the spice down, they could do that for us. If things get too spicy for me, I could always order their Coconut milk beverage to help calm the spice down. Clean and nicely decorated interior. Excellent food accompanied with exceptional service, you know we will be back to try their signature dish: House Signature Chinese Sauerkraut Flavor! It should be noted that they do charge an extra 3% if you use a credit or debit card. Limited parking is in the front.

I really enjoyed the sauerkraut soup. It was the perfect amount of sourness and I loved how it came with toppings included like glass noodles, bean sprouts, and bean curd. It was very affordable too compared to other chain restaurants that serve the same dish. I was incredibly full after this meal and we still had plenty of leftovers. Service was very good and attentive as well!

This place was actually so good and really hit the spot if you're looking for good Chinese sauerkraut fish. They have many different options and not just fish soup. So many options that I want to go back and try other options. What I didn't like was the owner came to scan my credit card on his machine and put the tip on 25%. Since this is more of a fast food Chinese place and lunch, I wouldn't tip that much.

Stopped by here around 11 pm on my drive home altering landing at EWR. The owner was very friendly and there was no patron in the store due to the late hour. The fish soup was tasty and fresh. Love the cucumber salad. I also ordered hot Jasmin tea. The only inconvenience is that they did not take AMX card.

This is one of my sister's favorite restaurants and I finally got to try it. The Sauerkraut dish with fish was so flavorful with a sour spicy taste. The pig intestines were dry pot stir fried and very tasty. Both of these were good over rice. The popcorn chicken here was well seasoned and very tasty.

On a Tuesday afternoon, this place is empty. Clean and spacious, decorated with large dark tile flooring, warm wood stained tables, bench seating and hardwood seats, blacks and faint gray walls, showcasing minimalist but functional dining facilities. Located in a strip mall on busy route 27, parking is limited and ingress and egress can be a challenge, depending on time of day. Food is outstanding. We ordered their special fish dumplings. Homemade, slightly thicker skins and flavorful filling. Served with a salty, sweet, slightly acidic dipping sauce, elevated the flavors. The dry pot salt and pepper fried fish fillets were perfectly cooked. Breaded, fried, crunchy on the outside but moist on the inside, salty, peppery, garlicky, it was tasty on its own without sauces. Throughout the restaurant are lighted displays of sauerkraut (pickled) fish soup, mala fish soup and green peppercorn fish soup. A must for the next visit! Note: * 3% up charge for credit card * Accepts Visa and Mastercard only

The signature sauerkraut fish and the dry pots are both must orders! The fish dish is tender with a sour and slightly spicy broth which pairs so well with rice. The dry pot is so addicting with the slight mala burn. Both dishes come with vegetables, but you can always add more things. Fatty beef is a must for the dry pot! If you pay in cash, you will get a free appetizer! Also if you dine in, you get a free dessert. The staff are so nice and check in to make sure everything is okay. It is located in a place so there are a few parking spots. I highly recommend this spot for comfortable homey food!!

My friend group and I were looking for some authentic Chinese food after a not so satisfying lunch nearby. I've had Nai Brother on my list for awhile so we decided that it would be a good time to try it. Upon entering, there is an ample amount of space. The decor is bright and light. There's also plenty of space for larger parties. We ordered the Popcorn Chicken, Fries and Beef & Ox Tripe with Chili Sauce to start. The fried items were not too greasy and very crispy. For the mains, we ordered three items: a large Tomato Flavored broth with noodles, fatty beef, spam and vegetables; a small Red Pepper Spicy broth with pig intestines, noodles and vegetables; and a small House Signature Chinese Sauerkraut soup with fish, noodles and vegetables. Everything was so good and the flavors have so much depth. My personal favorite was the sauerkraut. The service is wonderful. Everyone was so welcoming and nice. I highly recommend giving this place a try!

Delicious spot in Edison for sit down dinner! I came with a party of six without a reservation for dinner on Sunday. There are some nice promos happening now, including paying cash to get a free appetizer (chef's choice), and free dessert for dine-in (pending inventory). We ordered the fatty beef dry pot and house signature flounder. Both were delicious, but the sauerkraut fish really takes the show! The broth was delicious and flavorful, and the fish was perfectly cooked and tender. The price for the sauerkraut fish was also very reasonable, $15 for an individual. The dry pot was good but not as standout. It isn't too spicy, so extra spicy is probably okay to do! It was a very clean and comfortable restaurant and the service was fast and attentive.

I've had this spot on my to visit list for a couple months now and had the opportunity to visit after coming from a road trip with family for dinner today. We were greeted by a friendly worker/owner possibly and he was able to speak cantonese, mandarin, and English pretty fluently. He recommend some dishes like the soup dumplings, tripe, and chicken with spicy sauce for starters and all were delicious. The chicken with spicy sauce provided a nice almost numbing flavor. The soup dumplings were hot and packed with juice and meat. They came freshly made within 15 minutes or so. My family then each ordered our own pot - I chose the sauerkraut broth with beef and added on the ox tripe and bamboo shoots. I liked the broth as I am a big fan of sour and spicy flavors. My brother ordered the dry hot pot which includes a minimum 6 add ons. My dad ordered the sauerkraut noodle soup and my mom and her sister ordered the mushroom broth with chicken and fish. Everyone liked their dishes with their customizations and the owner was very friendly and helped provide a nice atmosphere. The portion sizes are pretty big in my opinion so you get your money's worth. The restaurant itself is very clean and spacious. There are 2 bathrooms that were very clean too, which can be a challenge I find sometimes at other asian restaurants. Overall it is a nice spot to try something new! Would recommend and would visit again in the future.

TLDR (5/5) Easily one of the most authentic Southern Chinese Food you'll get probably on the East Coast!! It has the stamp of my family members when I brought home some left-overs. They loved it even though it hadn't come out fresh from the kitchen. The plum drink is on the sweeter side but extremely tasty and worth it for those who are familiar with plum or willing to experiment. If you are looking to try new foods, whether you want a kick of spice or a large bowl of savory goodness, you cannot go wrong with Nai Brothers in Edison. Food (5/5): For people who love SPICE, it can get REALLY spicy. They have options for those who can't handle it. It has plenty of options from tofu strips to mushrooms. Chances are you won't have anything like it and it's tasty as well. So it gets a 5/5 in my book for uniqueness that matches the flavor to satisfy the palate. Especially great in the winter when it's cold. :) If you can't choose, the house signature is really solid, recommended by the owner as well. I had one drink here and it was the Plum Juice. My mother gave it her stamp of approval and destroyed it whole when i brought it back. Sooo give it a try if you want. Service (4/5): The waiters and waitresses aren't out of this world, but they do their job perfectly fine. They aren't rude and they have ones that speak Chinese and some that are bilingual. The owner is there at times and they are quite friendly! They will gladly tell you about the store and the food. Decor and Ambience (4/5): The outside is a bit hard to notice as it is in a mini outlet off the main road. If it ever gets packed you might have to park locally on the neighborhood roads. The inside is rather simple but has character. Nothing that really stands out besides the occasional decorations they place around. I also don't judge the total score harshly due to decor just because it isn't OUTSTANDING. It has a modern feel to it. Overall(5/5) The food is really good, I mean so good I'm not going to lower the score due to the other aspects despite being on the lower side. It really does provide that craving for something different. Not Americanized, culturally accurate delicious food. You won't regret it if you are an explorer of food willing to try new cultures. It's great, it really is!

They were running late since the whole front was full of people not seated. We ordered within 10-15 mins, however were told that they were out of a Mother's Day special and bread. BREAD! The excuse from a manager was that they ordered fresh bread from a vendor. What I gathered is that they did not take a look at their reservations, and decided not to order more to accommodate everyone. Mind you, it was only 7pm. The people behind us had been complaining of not getting their food, which should've been a signal. All around us, no one was getting their food, and the food coming out of the kitchen was sparse. Pretty sure they overloaded the kitchen staff, and the waiters took the heat because all I heard/saw was them apologizing for the long wait. If you ordered drinks or raw seafood, you got that ok. Otherwise, you would be SOL. We did not get any food until 8:20!!! And that includes our appetizers. Our entrees came out about 10-15 mins later because our waiter put in everything so there was no downtime. This included hungry children, which was just basically Mac and cheese, which we needed to be reheated cause it was so watery. All we got from the manager was a sorry. Even after we told them that this was bad managing of food service, number of reservations, etc. They did not offer any discount for the wait of our reservation or food. No 'hey', here's a complimentary dessert. Nothing but "sorry". Seems like a money grab that night. After spending $500-$600 on a very lackluster meal, which I feel many patrons that night felt, I would highly suggest spending your money elsewhere.

I visited Steakhouse 85 for the first time on Thursday, March 19th. We all know the food is fantastic, but what impressed me even more was the employees. When I walked in, I was greeted by the hostess, who had a big smile and bright eyes. She showed us to our table swiftly, and during our time there, her smile and warm welcome continued as she greeted other incoming diners. Our waiter appeared quickly with the first question would you like something to drink, water, etc. After the initial greeting, and now ready to take our order, he excitedly told us he had the pleasure of tasting most of the items he suggested. His excitement about the food he had the "pleasure of tasting" (his words) was apparent. Also, I had the pleasure of speaking to Monica, a manager at Steakhouse 85. She was kind, thoughtful, insightful, and well spoken. I could easily see why she holds that position and could have talked to her as I would a good friend. How a great manager like Monica gets those around them to react positively is by example; in other words, it's the ripple effect. It is easy to see that she is the type of person who, no matter what she does or where she goes in life, success will follow. Also, I want to say thank you to the owner and all the managers because hiring the right employees, from the cooks, busboys, and servers, is not an easy job in itself. The key to success is not just about the food; it's also the employees who add to the establishment's success! Great Job To All Of You! Kindness should never be taken for granted these days! Frances
