    Love coming to this place for some authentic Shanghainese/TW dim sum dishes. [[HIGHLIGHT]]However best to come on weekdays before the dinner crowds and avoid the weekends as it always crowded.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Almost everything was made perfectly and friendly service. As the night went on and got busier just have to be sure to wave the wait staff who are very amenable. My large party came and left so happy with practically everything that we had. Their food is always excellent and will certainly be back!

    It's the little moments that make life beautiful... especially the ones that involve tasty food! Tasty Moment is a very popular Shanghainese restaurant in Edison, well known for its soup dumplings, pan-fried pork juicy buns, noodle soups, dim sum, and comfort dishes like braised pork belly, crispy eggplant with minced pork, and peppercorn chicken. So, what keeps people coming back over and over again? Generous portions, authentic flavors, and reasonable prices. Most dishes range from $6-$20 (a steal in today's economy) and are perfect for sharing family-style. We stopped by on a Friday evening around 8pm and were quoted a ~45-minute wait. They typically don't accept reservations unless you're a large group, so brace yourself for long wait times during peak hours. You give them your name & number, and they'll send a text when your table is ready. Since it's located in Festival Plaza, there are plenty of things to see and do while you wait (cafes, H Mart, Island Spa, etc.). [[HIGHLIGHT]]I was hangry, so my little self was jumping for joy when I got the text: "YOUR TABLE IS READY." We ran over to the restaurant, stepped into a lively, bright, and modern space, and were seated right away![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I ordered: *Pork Soup Dumplings [6 pieces] ($10.95) *Lucky Three Soup Dumplings [(2) gourd luffa/Chinese okra, (2) pork, (2) crab meat] ($13.95) My gosh, I dream about these dumplings. I could've easily devoured a dozen more. I was doing a happy dance every time I ate one! The wrappers were just right: not too thin or too thick, slightly stretchy, and chewy. The soup was steamy, savory, and comforting on a cold winter day. Out of the three kinds, the pork and crab fillings were the winners! The ground pork was juicy and well-seasoned, while the crab was sweet and briny. TIP: GENTLY pick up the dumpling by the top knot to avoid tearing the wrapper and spilling the soup. Place it on a spoon, bite a small hole at the top, and slurp away. Sip the broth first, then enjoy the filling and wrapper! *Braised Beef Noodle Soup ($16.45) - Y'all should have seen my face when I took my first bite of the beef. It was unbelievably tender, packed with flavor, and had that buttery, melt-in-your-mouth texture. They really know how to slow braise beef here! The broth was rich and hearty, but a little too salty for my taste. I loved the thick, bouncy noodles! *Pork Chop Noodle Soup ($14.45) - This was my least favorite. The breaded pork chop was a bit tough and rubbery, making it hard to bite through. The sweet & salty soy glaze on top was tasty, though. The real highlight was the broth - creamy, light, and savory with a subtle sweetness! It reminded me of a tonkotsu ramen base. If the pork had been more tender or a higher-quality cut, this dish would've been much better. Overall, I liked the braised beef more, BUT I actually preferred the pork chop's broth. It was lighter and more balanced, while the beef broth was heavier and saltier. We left feeling VERRRRRRY satisfied with our meal. This isn't your typical Chinese-American takeout... this is a different league. I'd happily make the 1-hour drive down here just for these soup dumplings!

    This was one of those long overdue visits, the kind where it's a so close by that you put it off only to realize you should've gone ages ago. Part of me just avoids this plaza all together on weekends because it's nearly impossible to find parking. But glad I overcame that and gave Tasty Moment a go. We started with Cucumber in garlic sauce which was simple but tasty and a great accompaniment with all the dishes that followed which included the specialty: Crab and pork soup dumplings. I appreciate how those and the Pan fried pork dumplings had a thin outside later with a juicy interior, perfect for a cold winter evening! The standout for me was the Crispy eggplant with sweet and sour sauce - I usually prefer meat dishes but would return or this one. The Cumin beef fried rice reminded us of biriyani and the noodles were nothing memorable but overall great experience. To note: it's BYOB and be prepared to wait. We were told 45 minutes and it was almost exactly that long. Luckily, there's plenty of stores to browse in the place while you wait.

    New go-to spot unlocked for mapo tofu! Somehow never been here despite always hanging around festival plaza but wish I had sooner. It is always busy and I would recommend signing up for the waitlist remotely or shopping hmart while you wait Despite that the food came out fast and service was great, turnover rate for tables is also fast I got the mapo tofu (felt so good after recovering froma cold) and my friend got the pepper steak and both of us absolutely demolished our plates. I'd recommend dining in family style bc I took the leftovers home and they did not hold up well the next day

    Came here for lunch with a group of coworkers. We were seated quickly as we weren't averse to taking the larger table by the front entrance. Staff was super friendly and attentive. 2 orders of pork soup dumplings and 2 orders of spicy pork soup dumplings to split. Absolutely delicious!! I ordered peppered steak over rice for my entree. Peppered steak was perfectly prepared and seasoned. It was delicious. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Be prepared to wait, but remember, it's crowded because it's good[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] . Highly recommended.

    Pork soup dumplings are amazing! Skin nice and thin and loaded with juice. Be sure to eat it carefully so you don't lose the scrumptious juice. I ordered the fried eggplant with pork - which wasn't what I expected because it's basically fried eggplant with a thick gooey sauce on the side. The sauce was too thick. The noodles with pork was good. Long line even on a weekday evening, and service was a little slow (but not too bad) however worth it for the soup dumplings. I'll have to try other dishes next time!

    As a Shanghainese, this is the best Shanghainese restaurant I have visited in the last 10 years. Without further ado, the food I recommend the most is Shredded Eel with Scallion in hot oil, 响油鳝丝, simply because you can't get these anywhere else. The second is the crab Xiao Long Bao. The best in East Coast so far.

    Still tasty! Tried to expand our taste buds to new flavors but we still loved what we had gotten in the past so much that we had to get them again...but my husband did try sweet soy milk and mentioned that was good Scallion noodles are still good. The green beans are surprisingly good. Taro with tofu skin is good too - we keep getting warnings saying this is sweet every time we order this, which is interesting. Still good. Sweet. But good. I got the spicy XLB this time instead of the normal XLB and asked for ginger and chilli sauce on the side. It was spicy but delicious. Service is fast (after the 30 mins - hr wait). Place is ALWAYS busy. We reached like 10 minutes after it reopened in the afternoon/evening and we still had a 30 minute wait! But once seated, service is fast and servers are friendly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance is good. Not too big of a place but big enough to have your own space bubble.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

    ATTENTION! Tasty Moment (located right in Edison, NJ) left me speechless... Mommy's been ranting and raving about this place, she finally took me and... I get it. Authentically delicious! Place was packed but the service was so efficient. Pictured here, all based on my mom's reccomendations: soup dumplings, pan fried pork dumplings, XO sauce crawfish fried rice, spicy cabbage, and black pepper steak. Go, eat anything everything, but make sure you get that rice!

    Our second time here. This spot used to house Papa Rich Malaysian Food. Now, it's Tasty Moment featuring Shanghai-style Chinese Food. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is nice and neat.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ample room for a group of 5.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The servers were polite and courteous. They were also prompt to respond. The food was excellent. They were full of flavor. Nothing was dull or over seasoned. The prices are reasonable and really worth it. This is definitely a place worth coming back to.

    One of the best Chinese restaurants I've had on the east coast. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Extremely fresh and flavorful dishes served family style with generous portions and upscale decor.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Came at 9:00 and only waited about 10mins to be seated. Food came out extremely quick and service was attentive and friendly. Prices are UNBEATABLE - extremely good value for the quality and portions. We ordered the scallion noodles, pepper beef with rice, mapo tofu, sweet and sour ribs, and pork XLB dumplings. Scallion noodles were savory and umami with a fragrant soy sauce. The mapo tofu was extremely flavorful with a hint of spice. The sweet and sour spareribs were INCREDIBLE - tangy, tender, and addicting. XLB were HUGE and extremely juicy. Pepper beef was good but not my favorite (too many onions and not the most appealing aesthetically). Each dish was under $18 and enough to eat for the next few days!!! Definitely recommend the XLB and spare ribs. I can't recommend this spot enough!!! Plenty of parking and lots of shopping and other activities in the neighborhood while you wait as well (it's worth it though!).

    Great taste juicy soup dumplings, fresh taste fried oysters, can't go wrong with that. Good service for whole time, always take plates or dish after finished, and always confirm of next coming dish, specially some of dish it takes longer to cook, but they never forget what's my order.     - Service: Fast, friendly, and attentive staff. - Ambiance: Nice, clean, and cozy. Moderate noise but you still can talk for sure. - Food: Their menu has a lot of different options for you to choose, from dim sum, meat, to noodles. We ordered the Spicy Beef Tripe Noodles Soup and Sauteed Pork Udon. I really enjoy the noodles soup, it's spicy, warm, and hot with their signature Chinese chili oil if you know what I mean. Their beef tripes are also perfectly cooked and tender. Their pork udon is delicious too! - The wait could be very long though. We came there around 6pm on a Thursday night, and had to wait for 20 minutes to have a table. It's not suitable if you're in a rush. We'll come back soon and definitely recommend it to anyone.

    Yes, but don't expect wine glasses.

    I've noticed Tasty Moments is now located at the H-Mart strip mall, is it opened for business? Has anyone dined at this new location? Is the quality that of their original location? I've tried other restaurants who had relocated quality declined.

    As someone who has tried both, I can say with full confidence that the quality is just as good, if not better than that of their original location.

    If you order bubble tea to go do you still get it in a light bulb?

    I don't think so, now they're in a new location or even new management, many items have changed except for the XLB.

Plenty of original watercolors displayed and for sale on the walls. David the proprietor seemed to be handling most of the operation himself. He sat us, took our order, disappeared into the kitchen to participate in its preparation and served our four courses to us in traditional style - separately as ready. The food was excellent. We chose from both the lunch and regular menu, which were integrated seamlessly. Fried Pork Chop, Crispy Fried Intestine, Fish Fillets in Chili Sauce from the mains, and Orange Beef from the lunch list. I started with Hot &Sour Soup, which was flavorful and loaded with tofu, sprouts, pork slivers and potent vinegar. Loved it! The Pork Chop was deboned and pressed thin. The result was a crisp sliced Katsu-like cutlet with nice flavor and long crunchy chew. The Intestine was also crisp and filled with green beans that mixed well with the hardened shell and soft innards. Not my fave, but my lovely partner ate it enthusiastically. The Fish and Chili was very good, with tender lightly breaded white fish fillets and red chili sauce that included small pieces of celery, sprouts and cabbage, in a large bowl. Finally, the lunch sized Orange Beef was delicious with sweet and spicy amber sauce coating the pieces of lightly crisped beef. Ubiquitous broccoli sprigs added color to the dish. Service was friendly and accommodating. David was happy to interact and talk about his business there. Red Onion is a Five Star keeper.

Efficiency like that gives a person hope. Hope, as it turns out, is fragile. Back in the room, I opened the containers immediately. Spicy beef noodles with hand pulled noodles in a beef and pork broth, along with steamed pork soup dumplings that had been spoken of with reverence online. The dumplings were cold. Not warm, not cooling. Cold, like they had been waiting longer than I had. They had fused together into a single tragic mass. When I tried to separate them, the dough tore open and the soup filling spilled out into the container, abandoning its purpose. How this happened during a ten minute walk is a mystery. The more likely answer is that it did not. The noodles were at least hot. The flavor was fine. Not offensive, not memorable, just present. You eat it, and it disappears from your mind almost immediately. This is a place people seem to love, which makes the experience feel like a clerical error in the matrix. Perhaps it was an off night. Perhaps I caught them at the exact wrong moment, but on this particular evening, dinner felt less like a meal and more like a misunderstanding.

We also had the pork and shrimp dumplings and the steamed BBQ pork buns, and both were really good as well. I also loved that this place is BYOB, so being able to bring my own wine made the meal even better. The people working there were very friendly, positive, and gave the place a really good vibe. For the rest of us? Avoid this absolute trainwreck of a restaurant at all costs. We arrived as a party of 7 and were crammed onto a tiny table. Despite an entire section of the restaurant sitting completely empty, staff flatly refused to move us to a larger table. Predictably, because we were packed like sardines, a glass was knocked over during appetizers. That is when the dining experience shifted from uncomfortable to utterly pathetic. As the drink flooded the table and pooled into a food plate, the servers literally just kept dropping new food into the mess. When we begged for it to be cleaned, a waitress dumped a handful of tissues on the table and walked away. When we asked her to use a tray to clear the wet items, she claimed she "didn't have a tray"--meanwhile, every other server in the room was walking past us carrying trays. Despite multiple pleas, the table was never properly wiped. We had to flag down other servers for napkins and physically move our own dirty dishes to a neighboring empty table ourselves. Thinking it couldn't get worse, we asked for the manager, "Ashley". It turns out the toxic attitude starts at the top. Ashley arrived with zero empathy. When the waitress boldly lied to our faces and denied her comments about the tray, Ashley didn't care. She disappeared for five minutes, returned solely to defend her incompetent staff, and when we asked if she was even willing to listen to our side, she literally walked away from us. To give a restaurant your hard-earned money only to be treated like an inconvenience is infuriating. Ashley and her staff lack the basic fundamentals of hospitality, cleanliness, and human decency. Do yourself a favor and spend your money somewhere that actually values its customers.
