Just left Nail-a-Holic and super bummed about my experience. To be blunt, it was like the woman I had never did nails before. I went with the Hot Stone pedicure and pretty quickly regretted making the last-minute call to squeeze in a pre-holiday pedi. My technician did not trim my nails (at all), did not seem to know how to file (she 'filed' 2 nails lightly on my right foot, then put the tool away), and did not know how to use the callus tool or scrub brush (she rubbed it softly over my feet 4-5 times and put it away - another technician had to come do it for her after seeing it). She did know how to use the cuticle clippers...that's the only tool she actually used on me. She also did not know how to use the hot stones. Setting all this aside, I'm mostly just there to walk out with my nails looking decent in sandals but that didn't go well either. It took her 2-3 minutes per toe to paint one layer and she used these tiny little strokes that ended up looking globby, uneven, and left me with nail polish all over my skin that she attempted to get off. See photos of my end result. I'm not very precious about my nails, often leaving them totally undone, but it's frustrating to pay $50 to have them look like a 10 year old did them. The one tech there acknowledged the challenge and gave me $10 off, which I appreciated, but it would have been nice for someone to intervene and fix it after two hours of watching this woman struggle through the whole thing. They told me they didn't have time to fix today but I could come back tomorrow. I'm just going to re-paint my nails myself and will try somewhere else next time. On a positive note, some of the other techs looked better and the woman who I assume was the owner seemed nice before she left. I do feel badly leaving a poor review for nice people, but it was such a bad experience. It says something when you're super eager to leave what's typically a pampering experience. read more

The last management was a bit pushy, but Cindy did an awesome awesome job and was consistent each time with my pedicures, which was about 5 or more times that I came by. The new management, Vy, is very nice and helpful! But the pedicure was NOT that good at all. It wasn't consistent on each foot, some things she did to one foot she didn't do to the other. I've never ever had my legs washed with soap and a brush as if that was a "spa service". I thought I paid for my cuticles and nails to be cut and calluses to be removed, etc on both feet. Now the massage at end was about the only OK part. She seemed tired and wore out. And I've always wondered and I don't understand why time is wasted running water for my feet to "soak" when they're not even in there 2 mins. read more

They do a really nice job here. They take their time, they are super super friendly. The place is very clean and you can tell they have invested in their business and I appreciate that. The only reason I am not giving them five stars is the price. $27 for the most basic of pedicures - no callus removal, no clay mask, etc. I can pay $25 and get everything in their $45 option minus the hot stones at a lot of other nail salons in Austin. So if money isn't a factor for you, highly recommend. If you're on a budget, meh you could probably do better. read more

Dave is very professional and I am always satisfied with his work. I have been 2 times and I get a gel manicure/normal pedicure. The tools are clean and I never feel rushed. I'll start off by saying there was only one worker there. the phone kept ringing while she was doing my nails and she asked if i would cover her phone for her. she cut 4 of my nails and didn't stop the service. nails are super lumpy and wish i didn't have to pay $60 for this set. read more

Visiting for the weekend, googled this location. Tech outside, walked in behind us. No one greeted us hello or asked me to pick out a color. We told her what we wanted. They insisted I get dip or gel. I told them no thank you just a regular mani/pedi. Asked if I wanted callous removed for $5 each? Told her no. I didn't like the fact that everything was al-a-cart. Overall they did the job they were asked to do but, scrubbing your feet to remove the dead skin was not done properly (which is a very important part of the pedicure procedure). They finished up, didn't say thank you until I said thank you! I will not ever patronize this facility again. read more

I've been coming here for about 1 year and have always been super pleased with my pedicure. I always had my nails done by Holly, but the other techs seemed to do excellent work as well. I called a couple days ago to schedule a Saturday morning appointment with Holly (always had to schedule ahead because she was that good and always booked). The man who answered the phone said Holly was no longer there. He said he had others there "all just as good as Holly." Since my feet were in desperate need of attention, I took a chance and agreed. When I asked who my appointment was with, he said just come in. Someone will help you. Never gave a name, which I found odd. Well, when I walked in I saw no familiar faces. Only 2 techs working. The whole atmosphere was different. Cold, unfriendly, the couple people working spent all their time scrolling through their cell phones. The fact that this place was empty on a Saturday morning should have been my first clue that service had tanked quickly at this place. The pedicure was mediocre at best. No more prepackaged tools (which I like, as they are only used on you). Of course the price was still the same (which was always a few dollars more than other places I've been, but since the tools were new every time, I figured it was worth the extra couple of dollars). No more little fresh smelling tablet thingy placed imto the water. Callous removal was poorly done, filing was minimal so my nails are not smooth (will have to try to file them myself and hope I do not mess up the polish). The tech kept clipping my skin during the cuticle trimming. I could go on and on, but I imagine you get the picture. When the young lady finished with me, she said absolutely nothing. Just got up and walked away, leaving me sitting in the chair. She walked away, sat down at the far end of the salon and went back to scrolling on her cell phone. Eventually I took out the cotton from between my toes, fiddled with the chair for a while until I could figure out how to raise the arm of the chair to get the heck out of there. Absolutely no one came over to help with the chair. And absolutely no one helped me put my flip flops on (which every salon I've ever been to does, to ensure you do not mess up your freshly painted nails). It felt like having to work was a horrible inconvenience for them. I will not be back. Sure wish I knew where my favorite nail tech Holly went. read more

I actually left feeling like I was a bother to them (though I was the only customer on a Saturday afternoon), as I was interrupting their phone scrolling time and eating (it was not during a common meal time btw). Also, they were eating sitting in the chairs (one tech in a mani station and one in a pedi chair). When a customer did come in, a tech reluctantly got up from a chair and sat the customer down where she had been eating that was clearly covered in splashes from her soup. She didn't even clean it up. The customer was asking to sit at another station as I was walking out. I was a faithful customer under the previous owners,but after my 1st experience with the new owners, I will definitely not be back. read more

I have calluses on my big toes from wearing flip flops constantly, and my technician used a nifty machine to whirr them off. This is my favorite nail place in Austin! I drive the extra 10 miles to go there. They are meticulous with their work. Every nail is perfect. You can tell they CARE! The gel manicure holds up really well too. The owners are so sweet and precious! I have visited 2 times. The first time I felt service was very good and my nails were done well. The second time was lacking. The same girl did my pedicure, however she seemed to be tired and not care as much about detail. The nail trim was kind of jagged. The worse part is that I don't think they use sanitized tools or new files/buffers between clients. I didn't notice this until 1/2 way thru service but it kind of freaked me out. I thought the owner was very nice both times but I won't go back unless I was sure everything was sanitary. read more

Because this salon is at the edge of my neighborhood, I've been going for about 12 years, through various owners and names (it was most recently "Q Nails"), and it has been "hit or miss" over time. Last Friday I stopped by for an eyebrow wax and was pleasantly surprised at the new remodel (much cleaner and nicer than Q Nails) and the wonderful, friendly owners (Dave, an electrical engineer, and his wife Cindy, who recently located here from Los Angeles). I was so comfortable and friendly that I decided to try out their pedicure and manicure as well. The service was great, and they gave me a little gift bag as I left (which was tailored specifically for me and was different than what they gave the other client who left before me)...I thought it was a really nice touch, and I plan to go more often! I especially liked that they did my eyebrow wax in the comfortable pedicure chair (instead of laying down in a back room table, like most places) and also that because I was in a hurry, Dave did my manicure while Allie did my pedicure. I also liked the hand/leg massage and especially the hot lemongrass towels they used. I highly recommend this new salon!! read more
