They asked if I was in the right place and kept staring at me. I said the number I called and they were more confused but I showed them it was the one on Google and my call log for yesterday. She called the manager and handed me the phone. The manager took my number and told me to hold. Then said there was a double booking and if I waited 45min they would give me a discount. This was my first visit and I left happy with my builder gel manicure for $60 dollars on 8/14. These pictures were taken 8/23 but the lifting corners began before I even hit the week mark. The nail must of just not been sealed right or not applied properly, but the corners were lifting and air bubbles were all over the corners of the nails. Because I have been growing out my nails I decided to just soak them off not even near the 2 week mark in an effort to protect my length before the chipping got worse. Considering that it was just a builder gel manicure no polish except for the top coat this just seems absurd. She spent time cleaning the cuticles and paid attention to all the corners and took her time to make sure they were the perfect length. They made it very easy to make an appointment and were right on time when we came to the salon. I got my nails done by Liana, and my friend had Lucine. Our nails turned out PERFECTLY. I started talking to Liana, telling her that I wanted to cut off my nails because the prior nail salon I went to told me my nails were yellow. She took time to examine my nails, took off all the previous product, and told me my nails were in great shape. She told me to keep my natural nails, guided me to the right product, gave me one of the best nail experiences I've had. Decided at the last minute to get my nails done. Nail Bar was quick to respond and I found an appointment immediately. They have a small parking lot out front and then street parking. I was the only one in the shop so I had the place to myself and was able to relax. The inside is an explosion of pink and florals. I hate trying to find a bottle of polish and what was great was they gave me a book of colors and I was able to select a color immediately. The two women got to work immediately and I liked that they didn't chat too much as I was able to just decompress while they worked on my nails. Loved the end color and the quality was nice. I didn't get gel, so the manicure lasted about a week. Cost was $80 (not including tip) for a regular manicure-pedicure. read more

Making an appointment with Nail Bar was incredibly easy! I just sent a quick message on Yelp, requested Luci and Liana, and my preferred time and day were instantly booked. The experience was fantastic--so peaceful and relaxing. I was the only one in the studio, which meant no rushing, and best of all, I didn't have to watch TV (yay!), something I really dislike at salons. Luci and Liana were absolutely delightful, and I've never had a manicure and pedicure done so quickly and flawlessly. I asked for hard gel on my nails, but I was worried about chipping since I usually do dip. They don't do dip, and the process has been damaging my nails, so I decided to try the gel. I have officially found my new nail salon and nail tech! I recently moved and had been trying out different salons in the Los Feliz/Silverlake/Glendale area with no luck. I have been getting Gel-X for a while now because my nails were too weak for soft gel polish. I decided to try a hard gel manicure with Luci and I think this will be my new go-to! My nails feel super strong and I am confident they will last a good 3-4 weeks. Luci was extremely meticulous and detail oriented, my nails haven't looked this good in months. She was extremely efficient as well-- she removed my Gel-X nails and completed my new manicure in 1 hour. Once you get a Russian manicure, it is hard to go back to normal manicures. *ZERO STAR REVIEW* I was staying in Glendale for a quick trip and decided to schedule in a mani-pedi. YELP search suggested this nail spot close by to our hotel and it appeared to have newly opened. From the few reviews and photos at the time, it looked decent enough. I popped into the salon first thing the next day to see if they had an appointment available but when I opened the door, the three employees simply stared at me for a beat as if I was in the wrong place? It looked like your typical nail salon, so I asked if they had time for a mani-pedi and took cards for payment. The three women working talked amongst each other, in what I assume was Armenian, and then addressed me. The eldest employee said "YES" and basically waved at me to sit down at a station with the youngest staff member. The older lady and other employee then continued, working in tandem, on the only other customer in the shop. As I sat down, what I didn't realize was that this was a Russian Manicure-only nail salon. This technique is a dry manicure (no soaking, no washing, no oils) and they use tools like an electric file to do your nails. I should have bounced the minute that older lady gave me that dismissive wave but I was telling myself to be open minded and give them a chance. The younger girl who helped me was nice but to be honest, she looked like she just rolled out of bed and came to work in her pajamas. As she was prepping my nails, she hardly spoke until her cell phone started blowing up. After ignoring it for the first three ring cycles, she finally picked the phone up to balance it on her shoulder and hissed angrily at whoever was on the other end. To say the vibes in the salon were UNCOMFORTABLE is an understatement. During my visit, they kept the front door locked (illegal, no?) and also didn't have A/C on, which made the place smell weird and stuffy. Just YIKES all around! As the young woman whisper argued with her caller, I decided to pull the plug on the whole operation and have her simply finish the distracted and terribly done manicure. After her contentious phone call, I was not about to let this girl cut up my feet with some electric power tools while she was in a bad mood. So to keep from hurt feelings, I made up an excuse about receiving an emergency text and paid cash to hurry TF out of there. The entire operation just got sketchier and sketchier during my visit, so there was no way in hell I was going to give them my credit card number on top of that. :( read more
