This is my trusty guide wherever I am and YELP succeeded again by leading me to the "Nail Care" Salon on Foxon Road. I am a guy, and in business my hands need to look nice, clean, and well-kept. I am very pleased with "Nail Salon". The shop is clean and modern. My nail stylist was Jaqui, and I highly recommend her for the thoroughness, gentle touch, and attention to what I asked for. I wanted a pedicure and a Gel manicure and both were professionally done and very economically priced. I hate to leave this review because the owner of this shop is incredibly sweet, but unfortunately, she did a horrible job on my acrylic gel manicure. I asked for french tips originally, but they were bulky and thick. I politely asked her to remove it and use a solid color instead. This color was applied in such a messy way. You can see the blotches in the picture. She was rushing through it. It's nothing like what I wanted nor expected and hate that I spent $75+ on this. After less than week they already look run down. I have been looking for a nail salon in the New Haven area since I moved here in August and I must say this place will be just another disastrous place I tried out. I even yelped this placed before going. I must have gone on a bad day or something because my experience does not resonate with all of the other 4 star reviews. I'm not very picky when it comes to nails--I just like a regular manicure and pedicure with basic solid colors. Today I decided to do a mani pedi and have my mani be rounded instead of squared and I should've stayed home and done it myself and saved myself $40 (with tip because even though it was bad I know how much they earn is not much). Sue, the nail technician, is a wonderful person, but maybe doing nails is not her thing. She cut my big toe nail way too short and when I pointed that out she decided the other toe can stay longer. But it didn't look right so I asked for her to make them the same. The color does not look shiny, instead it looks like this is a 5 day old pedicure. And I have a feeling it will chip soon (I'll keep you all updated). My mani looked like my four year old nephew used his non dominant hand to cut, file, and paint them. I must admit, the color I chose is a hard color to paint with, but if you're a nail tech you should know how. My hands just look atrocious and the nail polish (Opi) is bubbled. Other issues: not at all sanitary and clean. Pros: good massage on legs, neck, and hands. But that's not what I was there for. I asked her to fix my nails and the second time came out worse. I would've asked for my money back, but I didn't want to raise a fuss so early in the morning. Why is it so hard to find a good place to get your nails done for a relatively good price here in New Haven? Does anyone have any GOOD suggestions? read more

Mind you, I only go for pedicures, but the professionals at Nail Care are friendly, skilled, and don't skimp on the little extras that make a pedicure a treat: paraffin, hot stones, disco lights in the foot spa water. Went here recently for a gel mani and pedi. Very good service, they really take their time here compared to many other places in the area I have been to. Even with the standard pedicure I got a relaxing massage and then also got a shoulder massage while I was getting my manicure. They did an excellent job on both my mani and pedi. This nail salon is a hidden gem. The ladies are hard working and very thorough in their attention to detail when working on you. The nail salon is kept immaculately clean and they have massage chairs. My mani/pedi's continue to look good for up to two weeks. When you leave, it is on a cloud of air, from the relaxing neck and shoulder massage and having fabulous looking nails! If paying by debit or credit, bring cash for leaving a tip, as they do not have a tip line on the receipt. read more

They do the callus elimination, hot stone massage and the whole nine yards all for around $25....same prices as everyone else around but definitely superior service for the cost. Love, love, love this place! I have been going for years and I've never had a bad experience. The ladies are all wonderful, friendly and caring. The prices are so reasonable - they really could be charging more. Every mani/pedi I have had has been flawless and they really take a nice, long time rubbing, massaging, making me really relax. It really is very pampering. After every person they sanitize everything. Any bad reviews must have just been an off day, unfortunately. The only thing that's not stellar is that they take everyone that comes in, whenever they come in, so if you make an appointment for, say, 11:00, when you get there, there's a good chance no one will be available, because everyone's working on someone already. This was my first time here. Great customer service. My nail tech actually spoke to me and had good conversation. Also my gel mani was very sanitary and speedy. My hands and nails were sprayed down with sanitizer and alcohol throughout the entire manicure. It made me feel very safe. A bit pricier than what I am used to but well worth every bit of $25. I felt very comfortable and welcome from the second I arrived to the second I left. I got a gel manicure which I loved. I just moved to East Haven from Long Island NY and out there girls are ALL about their nails so I thought I was gonna have a problem finding a good salon. After a little research and all the good reviews I read about this place I decided to give it a shot. The place was SPOTLESS. It was so clean and SMELLED CLEAN. Everything was disinfected, I was pretty much wrapped in warm towels, had an AMAZING massage chair, wonderful satin lotions, paraffin treatment, hot stone treatment, everything for the 26$ pedicure. The woman who worked on me took her time, was very sweet, and it was honestly the most enjoyable experience I have ever had a nail salon, which is why I felt the need post this review as soon as I left the salon! I will DEFINITELY be back again for another pedicure and a manicure. They were beyond wonderful, priced extremely well for what they provide and it was very sanitary. LOVE them! read more

My mother and I came in one evening to get manicures. We were greeted and told that we would be next. Unfortunately that was not so. Another customer came in after us, she asked how long is the wait, and she was told 30 minutes. She immediately began complaining and said "I can not wait 30 minutes, I need my nails done right away, can you take me next!" So the nail technician as well as this woman took it upon themselves to assume that her time was more important than mine or my mother's. They gladly disregarded my mother and I who were waiting patiently. I then spoke up and said that we can not wait either and should be next. The nail technician replied with discontent and attitude that "it will only be 5 more minutes." Which was a lie. At that moment we decided to walk out. Very poor business practice, they obviously do not value their customers or the revenue that is yielded. If so they would have acknowledge two dissatisfied customers. Instead they chose to let us walk out and did not express any contrition. I frequent that salon and refer a lot of my friends. I will never go there again. I felt discriminated against and do not have to take that, there are too many other salons out there that will appreciate my business. Even if they would have asked if we would mind if they take her next, I would have not had a problem with it. They obviously didn't do that. read more

I've been going here for over a year now and I really like this salon. However, the really young girl (who doesnt speak English and I don't know her name) is awful. The past 3 times I went I got stuck with her. She never takes off all of the nail polish from the previous manicure, she rushes through it and it never takes her more than 15 minutes - she obviously was never trained properly and it is a shame. Jennifer and Alexandra are wonderful. She doesn't seem to care, and it is just a job to her. She paints the edges of the nails, which causes them to chip too often. Let's just say that I have been so disappointed lately, that I am considering switching salons. The language barrier with all the staff makes communication difficult, but when Jennifer or Alexandra work on me, the service is always thoughtful and very professional. read more
