My 35 dollar spa pedicure was very strange and so fast. First, a woman took about five minutes to cut my cuticles (kind of) and scrub my feet (20 seconds total). Then she quickly painted my nails and said a man would massage my feet. At that time, I had been sitting in the chair for maybe 8 minutes maximum. Then a man came over and gave me a strange massage where he ticked the bottom of my toes with his fingernails. The whole process took 20 minutes maybe. I won't come back and now I know why it always looks empty. read more

I went in for a manicure and pedicure. They rushed the pedicure as if they were totally disinterested in doing it. I also noticed that they gave leg massages to those who were given pedicures yet I did not receive one. I had a gel manicure which was also rushed. I have been coming to Nail Salon consistently for 5-years. The service and work is great. It has improved since my last review, and I highly recommend this studio. I have tried all of their services including waxing. The service is first rate and the staff is oh so friendly. The waxing is done in a professional friendly was that relaxed me and made me feel comfortable. I was happy with the waxing. I come on a regular basis for mani-pedi. I find the manicurist to be gentle while firm at working on in grown and difficult nails. I have had acrylic nails in the past but for my taste, I prefer the gel nails. I'm always happy with my nail job. I sometimes compare with family and friend and mine are the best. On several occasions I've been recommended to new colors and techniques like a color that congeels when a magnet device is used, or special flowers in summer, candy stripes in winter, and smart speckles for fun. read more

Literally the WORST manicure and pedicure experience everrrrrr! I wish i had looked at yelp before going could have save me so much time. Let's start out by that she refused to paint my nails a color or do gel even though i asked 3 times. No massage, no scrub basically just painted my toes which was the worst I've ever seen. Polish all on my skin, i could have done a better job myself. Then i told her i wanted to leave she grabs my hand and I had to ask her not to touch and grab me. Negative stars! Holy moly. How is this place in business. Came for a wedding and had to go down the street to get it all re done. Not to mention she wanted to charge me full price! Do NOT come here! read more

Kids pedicure chairs is why we go. $15 for a kids pedicure, $15 kids manicure. (Trim nails, no filing, no cuticle/oil/lotion, no base coat, then two coats polish, flower design, top coat). Adult pedi $30. Guy whom does massage is worth it! Adult mani $20 which is just soak, cuticle trim without cuticle lotion or oil, then cut,file. Rushed paint, two top coats and then massage after. It's a budget option and my kid loves the chairs her size. But it's not my favorite. read more

Walked the length of the Art, Wine & Music Festival, twice. Ended back by the Hopmonk music stage and I look over and this place looked empty, but definitely open for business. I went in and got a mani/pedi for $30. I still will always compare nail salons to my usual spot at Miracle Spa in the city. It was a basic, no frills mani/pedi, and the guy stepped in afterwards and gave pretty okay leg/arm massages. They were nice and also gave me a cold bottle of water. But I wish the lady cleaned up the polish better around the nails of my toes. Still on my skin and I guess I gotta do that part at home. read more

I continue my search for a spa pedicure that appeals to everything I want - cleanliness, friendliness, excellence, arty-ness, charm, intelligent cost. I wouldn't shout "don't go there!" but I have no intention of returning. I think the idea of being offered tea pulled me in. No tea for me although the harried male owner offered us all small, chilled Evians by the end of my pedicure. As a late Friday walk-in, I waited not too long - points for that. The owners were friendly but alas, I could barely understand them through their accents. They have a young son who was intensely taking care of himself with his little iPod. Sweet lad. The quality was a 6.5 on a 1-10 scale. I've had better painted toenails, paid for and not. I've had better and worse lower calf massages. I waited what felt like an extremely long time for the polish to dry without access to any of those zap-'em machines that most salons have to hurry it along. Granted, I was not in a hurry but I wanted to mention it. The pedicure was $18 and I tipped $3. A huge sign outside the shop shouted, "Special! Spa manicure AND pedicure $25!" NO one tried to coax me to have that done. Perhaps they simply wanted to go home for the day. They're ok. If you go and like it, great. This is my middle-of-the-road review saying I'll keep looking for THE place that hits all my bells and doesn't break the bank. read more

I went to the Nail Studio for years. Best leg massages ever. Then I stared noticing little things. The owner, Helen, would yap on the phone while doing nails. She also started running around taking pictures of everyone with her iPad. Not sure what she was doing with the pictures. But it was almost every visit. I started to hold a magazine in front of my face. They offer bottles of water. Great, except Helen doesn't think I drink fast enough so she holds the bottle in front of my mouth until I have to drink. She also force fed a banana to one of my friends, but that's for her review. They also NEVER turn away walk-ins. Which means, Helen, and her male counterpart, Tom, are the only two there, the chairs are full and those of us with appointments get shortchanged. The price is right and the nail polish doesn't chip, so if you can handle the wierdness, go for it. There's so many other places to choose from in Novato, I started going elsewhere. read more

I've been going here for years . I never make an appointment ,just walk in and all but 1 time did I need to come back because the wait was going to be long . Tom and Helen are super sweet and do a great job . Tom does the massage and is fantastic . Helen is quick , efficient and does a lovely job especial with the art on your big toe for a pedicure . So I have been trying different nail salons all over Petaluma and believe it or not, I drove to Novato just to get my nails done. Not that far really but given that there are so many options here in town, I was hopeful to find something comparable. I went to Nail Studio on Sunday when Helen works. She knows how to clip my toenails short and she did a great job as always. My massage was about 15 minutes long and just perfect. Lee did my manicure and she did a good job as well. Pros - I got great service and a free design on one of my toes. I used to be a regular and they missed me so they gave it to me. They are hopeful that I will make the drive to them in the future. Cons - They had all the doors open to let the breeze through the building and the flies were getting in making it not as enjoyable as it could have been. Had that not been the case, these ladies would have earned 5 stars. You can't beat them as long as they aren't too busy. read more

I ended up here because the first few places I went were all booked and couldn't fit me in. She talked me in to getting gel, which I rarely do because it destroys my nails. She kept telling me that it would last at least 3 weeks, which in the past, from other salons, it has. This is THREE days later and they're peeling off already. HORRIBLE experience. The female manicurist was rude and rushed mine and my girlfriends manicures and pedicures once more potential clients walked in. A very messy job and she didn't even fill in my nails with the color I chose, yet she insisted that we leave a tip. I only felt obliged to tip because of the male, Tom, present who was warm and friendly during our entire visit and did his best to make sure we were comfortable. He is the reason I left one star. Have been dying for a good pedicure that won't cost me an arm and a leg, and I finally found one!!! Pedicure was $20 with tip (reasonable, as far as I'm concerned), the women working there were extremely sweet, and they offered me a Vietnamese tea (which was yummy!) -- I always love a salon that provides refreshments. I have never written a review before, but really had to share what I just experienced... What a waste of time and money!! I hardly ever get my nails done anymore, and this was for a special occasion. I'm SO disappointed. Two thumbs down. :( I decided to give Nail Studio a try based on all the good reviews on Yelp. Let me tell you...they were wrong. I SO regret not going to the wonderful place in Ignacio that I always used to go to, and will make sure to do every time in the future. The lady I got was nice enough, and did a good job on my pedicure, but the water was barely lukewarm and I only got one coat of color, which means that the super dark red I chose turned out kind of medium strength. Ok, that I could handle. But then she barely soaked my fingers before starting on the manicure. She did NOT ask me if I like my fingernails square or rounded (they were already rounded, and hardly needed filing), and went ahead and made them square...very sloppily square. And with rough edges. I'd say they were half filed when she started painting them. She did the white tips very thick and sloppy, and I had to ask her to make them thinner, and clean up more than one really bad line. She also stopped several times during my manicure to help other people, as well as answered her cell phone twice and had conversations while doing my nails. It just seemed kind of rude and unprofessional. She had to fix one of my white tips, then immediately applied a coat of the clear, so she got a bunch of white specks in the clear area of the nail. I know she saw it, but she didn't offer to fix it. She was too busy moving on to the next manicure who had walked in during mine. At that point, I was more than over it. While my nails were drying, I found out that my mom's manicure had been terrible. Her lady was obviously in a bad mood or just an unhappy person, and took it out on my mom's poor cuticles. She has two red cuts on two of her cuticles, which are now very painful. The lady totally rushed (was done in probably less than 10 minutes), cut her cuticles way too fast and too hard and then immediately applied alcohol (OUCH), and completely skipped the base coat. Overall, this experience SUCKED. The only reason they got one star was because my toes turned out ok. I will definitely NEVER go back there, and will make sure that anyone I know who wants a manicure or pedicure doesn't make the same mistake I did. read more

Second of all, the tips she put on my nails were completely uneven. She used way too much acrylic, it was dripping off. She also cut me a few times with the drill filer. I love this place! I was in town for a wedding & my boyfriend's mom has been taking her mom here as an outing & said they've always been nice, so I decided to give them a chance. I'm so glad I did! They gave me & my guest (who wasn't getting a service) cold water bottles & were so amazingly kind and thorough. She even had very cute ideas to add a top coat that turned out amazing & didn't try to up-sell anything. AMAZING arm & calf massage! The warm towel at the end really was such a nice touch. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!!! I came into this salon for plain mani and the girl behind me ( one of the workers) was hanging out in the pedi-spa chair and was laughing about something, looking at my back, which was Very Awkward?! I was really curious what was wrong with me or with her that day because this is not how you treat a customer. ( I even looked at the mirror when I walked out of that place to see if I was OK looking.) Her laugh wasn't a kind one, but rather an attitude/angry. And 2nd most important thing that turned me completely away that the manicure I got wasn't anything good and when it came to the lotion portion on my hands, it was skipped altogether. When I asked about it, the technician stated that " It's not included." That's it! I shouldn't even left the tip. I feel bad for women who live in Novato that there's no good nail or wax salon around. I tried quite a few when I come visit my mom from the East Bay/ Silicon Valley. I used to love this place because they have done the BEST french manicures in the past, but the last two times I went they have CUT me, they are not gentle at all and one time cut 2 of my fingers and dabbed this painful solution on it to stop the bleeding. My thumb was cut in 3 places and was painfully swollen and bruised for 2 weeks. This last time I went in and decided to give them a second chance because after all they have given the best manicures in the past. Well no, she was extremely shakey and used way too much of the acrylic powder and my nails are bumpy and way too wide. My french manicure looks extremely cheap. She also cut me on two of my fingers again and did not even apologize. I have never been cut at any other place and to have it happen two times in a row settles it for me that I will no longer be going there. read more

This place is horrible if your getting acrylics done. 1, they cut my fingers by filing to much and too hard on my cuticles and the lady doing my nails didnt even care that i was bleeding. She kept applying some type of liquid to it that made it sting. I have never been cut at any other salon before. 2, my nails look horrible because they dont even look a bit real at all because my real nail shows on the sides and thats never happened before. She also put one of the nails on crooked and didn't even fix it i mentioned it to her and she just filed it to make it look straight. I left very unhappy and i will NEVER go back again read more

I have been getting my pedicure at the Nail Studio in Novato for at least 10 years. The owners Helen & Tom are lovely people who work very hard to make me feel relaxed and pampered. Their new foot bath massage chairs are amazing. The place is clean light & fully stocked with the latest magazines. Recently they started using a special polish, not a gel, which has wonderful colors & lasts up to 6 weeks without chipping or fading. And it dries fast! The grand finale for me is the foot & calf massage done by Tom after which he brings a hot towel to wipe off the excess lotion. HEAVENLY! ! The cost with tip is $23.00-well worth it. There is free parking behind the shop or on Grant Avenue. Best time to go is in the morning Monday to Thursday. read more

I asked her to redo them and shape them not so pointed. She did and the picture shows what I got.
