The younger women who works there was the one doing my daughters nails. The whole time she did her nails, if my daughters​ hand slipped off the pedestal or she didn't move her hand the way the woman wanted, she would make faces at my daughter. Several times she rolled her eyes and really made my daughter feel uncomfortable. This was only the second time my daughter has ever been in a nail salon to have her nails done. This woman never said a word, just made faces and rolled her eyes at my daughter. DO NOT BRING YOUR CHILDREN HERE. I personally will never be going back after that. Whether you have kids or not is no excuse for this behavior and the woman should be ashamed of herself.

While the staff is…read morefriendly enough, their training and professional practices are not consistent with those in use at similar salons with similar pricing structure. I waited ten minutes for someone to greet me at my appointment time. Polish color selection, quality of manicure and pedicure products and expected amenities are lacking. Pedicure chairs are uncomfortable. Feet are soaked in plain, tepid water. Base coat and top coat products provided are off brand. Polish removal (gel) is not performed according to best practices (no gentle "soak off", rather polish is aggressively removed using a nail drill and aggressive stripper. After three cycles of mani/pedi services over several months, my originally healthy nails are thin and weak. Manicures are performed on bare, gritty tables with no towels upon which to rest one's hands and wrists. Nails are soaked in plain, barely warm water. (Most modern salons have discontinued this soaking process) the drill and aggressive filing are used to remove polish. Removal products, base and top coat, such as exist, are off-brand. Polish color selection is very limited. Technicians use torn paper towel pieces to cleanse and wipe nails -- no cotton wool or cosmetic squares. No beverages are offered, there is no massage or moisturizing finish offered. Much more like a strip mall "no appointment" salon, Tropical Spa, while located in an attractive building and apparently family owned cuts corners, is merchandised with off brand beauty supplies and cheap jewelry and accessories. Not much attention to quality or style. The impression, despite $100+ cost for a gel Mani/Pedi is of cheap products, abbreviated services and cost cutting. Not for me again.

I always go to the Cutting Edge and have always had a good cut despite the fact that I was growing my hair out from very short to now shoulder length. It may be in an older building (Camden is an historic town) and many of the people here are retired, but I get far more value here than many of the places I have had my hair cut. In SC I pay $65 for a cut and blow dry and paid $85 last winter on a cruise ship but the best cut I have had in recent years was by Melanie at this salon for $35.00. She will be cutting my hair again on Friday. As to parking, it is very easy as it is right in front of the building, and should it be tourist season, there is still plenty of free parking within a few blocks.
