Absolutely awful service - Do NOT come here. I've been getting my nails done for about six or seven years now. That being said, I have learned which places I like and which I do not like, what shapes / colors suit me best, and when I can tell a worker is not putting forth their best work. I came in today and asked kindly for a gel mani, and was prompted to sit with Julia. Julia barely said any words to me, after I had said my hellos & thank yous, and seemed irritated with me and my request to see additional colors. Manicure wise - this was one of the most overwhelmingly average mani's I've ever gotten. I had to ask several times for Julia to pay closer attention to the polish, as there would be hairs stuck to the nail, the polish would get messed up by the gloves she gave me, she would get polish on my cuticles and not clean it until I pointed it out, the shape was not what I had asked for, and the polish on some nails showed up sheer compared to other nails that had opaque coating. Each time I had asked for something to be fixed, she called over the young girl working at the cash register to come over and explain to me why this shape / color was not possible due to the quality of my nails. After she informed me that she couldn't do anything about the sheerness because she couldn't do more coats, I said that it was fine and we could continue with the mani. She asked me if I wanted a different color, to which I replied no, this color was fine. During this whole process, Julia and the girl working at the register were treating me as if I was the one in the wrong, that if I asked for certain changes here and there, that I was "too picky". In reality, the manicure was NOT nice until I made these changes. As I was getting ready to leave, Julia called over the girl again and spoke to her for a few minutes until the girl told me, and I quote, "This is the last time you will be able to come to this salon". To which I replied, genuinely confused, "Why?", and she responded "Julia says you're too picky and she kept asking you if you were satisfied with your nails and it didn't seem like you were". At this point, I just wanted to get out of the salon. I got up, said thank you, and I'll be leaving you guys a yelp review. She responded, "Sorry about that". After finishing my mani, Julia just got up and went to the back. Didn't even say anything to me after. That being said, this was by far the most awful customer service I've ever experienced and I will never be returning. I'm advising all of my friends, family, and colleagues to stay away from this salon and save their money. Julia did not deserve my $5 tip. read more

Prices are reasonable, they have netflix on while we get our nails done- which really caught me up on all my chick flicks, and they DO accept credit cards. Went here recently for a simple manicure. Even though I had an appointment, they made me wait. Also, my nails came out not evenly polished. They made me get out of my seat RIGHT AFTER they put the top coat on. There were bubbles forming on the painted nails. I tipped the lady anyways and she didn't even look at me when I was handing it to her. Never coming here again. read more

I have been coming here for at least 5 years, and I always get a gel manicure with Renee. She is a perfectionist! She takes her time and makes sure my nails are perfect every time. She is very popular here, so make sure to call ahead to get an appointment with her. Kathy has been doing my pedicures lately, and I keep requesting her because she gives great massages and always does a great job. The owners here are friendly, and have a frequent buyers card where you can get perks for coming often. Overall this place is clean, friendly, and has great nail technicians! read more

I was in town for a wedding, found this place as it was near Starbucks in the shopping center. The manicurist rushed my nails but the pedicurest took her time and was very nice. I guess it just depends who you get here. The polish selection was just ok, I've seen better. My nail polish is already chipping on my toes after only 4 days. It's my day off today so I decided to relax and get my nails done. When I got there, I was helped by two ladies. The older lady who was doing my finger nails started filing them like a saw. It was so hard and abrupt, that the filer was now on my finger tips and she was cutting me with the filer! It hurt so bad that I pulled my hand away and yelled "ouch!" She acted as if it was no big deal, but then got up and left. A minute later another woman helped me. It was so odd and they made me feel as if it was my fault all of a sudden?! I have gotten my nails done hundreds of times and I have never felt so uncomfortable. And, I'm pretty upset that she cut me with that filer! I give them a 3 because my experience today was nothing short of discomfort and a feeling of being undervalued as a customer. The entire time they were doing my nails, they all conversed amongst themselves in Vietnamese and never asked how I was doing. Normally I don't mind being left alone when I'm getting my nails done, but I think I was a bit sensitive after what happened today and needed to feel comfortable. Pros: They do a pretty decent job on nails and prices are reasonable. There are also a few women there who do great designs so if you are like me and enjoy Pinterest ideas, ask for someone who knows how to do nail designs well. And, you do need to bring cash if you plan to tip. read more

If you want to be swindled, come here! I went last night to get a pedicure with my daughters (2 and 3.5 years old) and my husband and left completely angry with the way this nail salon runs their business. They are crooks and are well aware of the way they swindle their customers. I was treating my two toddlers with a nail painting for their birthday. I simply went in asking for their teeny tiny toes to be PAINTED. The next thing I know my daughter has flowers added to her painted toes. I was not asked if they can add flowers, nor did I ask to have flowers added. Instead, they just did it and then billed me for it. (At $2 or $3 a flower ..) Then my husband ( who never gets a manicure!) sits down to get his nails done. As a female we know if a nail tech asks you if you want a salt scrub on your nails (a procedure that took about 3-5 minutes) you say "no" or ask the cost. Instead my husband assumes this is part of the manicure and says yes. A 5 minute "salt scrub" (if you can even call it that!) cost an extra $8.00. Then they tried to buff his nails and wanted to charge an extra $2.00. Finally he realized everything they were trying to add on was extra money. So, for a men's manicure with no polish I paid $18.00!! His manicure took no more than 15 minutes to complete!! Furthermore, when I expressed my frustration with the final costs of everything, no one apologized or agreed to reduce the costs (especially for the flowers that I was not asked about!) of the services. So, I paid the full amount AND tipped them. Yet, I will NEVER return to this establishment. My question to the owner of this business: Is it worth it to swindle your customers out of a measly few dollars and have them leave unsatisfied to never return again? or would you rather disclose costs and have a customer come back over and over and over again. Your $13.00 gain last night, is potentially hundreds of dollars lost since I left unhappy and will never return. I live 1 mile away from your salon yet, I will continue to drive 3-4 miles to a different salon where they are honest, trustworthy, and true professionals. read more

I needed to find a new one and tested some in the Encinitas area that were okay but not up to my expectations until Ben at Nails 2000 plus! Attention to detail? That's Ben! Cut or drill your cuticle? The salon is average, but the 5 stars are for Tiffany and Jay. I would follow them anywhere. Tiffany has been doing my nails and eyebrows for like 5 years and she is phenomenal. She's really good at shaping. Jay does the best, most gentle pedicure and he's really detailed. He can fix anything! I recommend their gel manicure - they've got lots of colors to choose from (more everytime I go in there). They are cash only which kind of sucks, but there's a BofA right next door so it's not that big of a deal. read more

I visited Nails 2000 with my 78-year old mother, who is a regular. She was getting acrylics, and my daughter and I opted for regular manicures. This was the quickest manicure I've ever gotten, and my cuticles looked rough and sloppy. When the manicurist got some polish under my nail, he used his own, dirty fingernail to scrape under my nail to get it off! When he was done, he said thanks and didn't even set me up to dry. I had three coats of very thick polish, and no drying in between coats or after. By the way, the polish selection is not good--odd colors and many of the bottles were old and gloppy. The OPI color I chose took the manicurist a couple minutes to open, it was so stuck. My daughter's manicure took about 30 minutes also, nothing special. Her nails looked barely better than mine (Sidenote: My nail polish chipped completely off in big pieces the very next day). The acrylic nails that my mom got did not look good either--too thick, and you can tell it was a hurry job. Her manicurist was Wendy, who I understand is the head person or owner here. But here's my biggest complaint: Wendy took advantage of my mother. Wendy clearly said it was $71.00 for all three of us, and she broke it out: $45 for the acrylics, and $13 each for the manicures. My mother told my daughter to make the check out for $85.00, giving a very generous 20% tip (for manicures that were substandard, mind you). When I went up to where they were, I see my mother getting out an additional $10 bill and $5 bill to hand to Wendy, because Wendy was now telling her it was $75.00. I said to Wendy that you clearly said it was $71.00, and the tip has been added in the check for $85.00. She was telling my mother to tip the guy (I guess one of the guys who did me and my daughter's) and my mother handed her the additional $10 and was going to give her the $5 too, until I grabbed it out of her hand and put it back in her bag. There's no telling how much "extra tips" they've been getting out of my mother for the past several years. It's absolutely disgusting. Needless to say, I found another salon for my mother to go to and this is the last time they'll be able to take extra money from her for abysmal manicures. It's easy to confuse an older person, and to me, this makes it even more horrible. So please beware; these people are dishonest, and they don't do good work. I wonder how many others have been fast-talked and confused by her or others, and ended up paying more. read more

I have been getting my nails done for about ten years and I hate changing salons and finding a new person. I have been continuously disappointed in nail salons unable to find a good staff, clean atmosphere, and decent prices of course. Nails 2000+ blew me away!!! I was so happy. My mom suggested we go there because it was her day off and she wanted some pampering. It was the first time me and her went to this place. My mother was extremely happy with her services (mani, pedi, and neck and shoulder massage) and me too (gel fill and pedi). I got a gel fill and a pedicure. Ben did my nails and was awesome! He took his time didn't cut me once and did exactly what I asked for...thin squared nails. He was so clean and meticulous with his work. Hannah did my pedicure and she did wonderful too! I alway get a French tip pedicure but I saw a really pretty color so I did that instead and asked for flowers. She did the prettiest flowers I've ever seen and shapes them to look like petals instead of five dots and a rhinestone in the middle. Plus the entire staff was nice and talkative with me and my mother!!! This is my new place and I'm extremely happy. I would suggest them to anyone!!! read more

I had been looking for a nail salon that I felt worthy of giving 5 stars too for a long time and finally found it. Nails 2000 in Carlsbad is wonderful. I read many reviews from other salons, but never felt enticed to go- until I read the Nails 2000 reviews. Something just felt different about this place. Was it the friendly answer on the phone? Was it the ease of setting an appointment right away? Was it the gentle and articulate way they handled my grooming? Yes yes and yes. But, so much more- They are All so nice and helpful, everyone there. Its amazing. And, talkative. I loved it. I truly LOVE this place and had to bring my 26 yr old daughter to verify my new treasure. Yes- we both agree it is hands down the BEST place to go for mani & pedi. Not to mention I also recieved a 15 minute massage for only $12. How awesome is that? *Mandy did my pedicure. And is by far the prettiest my feet have looked in a long time. *Sally did my manicure. She was so articulate and made my hands look better than I've seen in a very long time. And, So gentle. *Kathy gave me my massage. Wow. What a great idea to add a massage to a already wonderful experience. --I paid $30 for mani/pedi and $12 for 15 min massage. $42 total. Where else can you go and be pampered and truly enjoy it for under $50? This is an Awesome place and I will be telling EVERYONE about Nails 2000! read more

Was traveling out of town for a conference and got a gel manicure, my nails turned out nice with the white French tips but besides being cut on my thumb and now over a week later dealing with a BAD infection had to go to urgent care to get the infection out and now taking antibiotics. Never had this happen before ever. Sad that medical bills have occurred besides effecting my personal and professional life. not sure how the tools are cleaned even in a package but the place needed a good cleaning dust bunnies behind the chairs and dirt on table tops. I came here the other day to get a gel manicure done and Renee was the nail technician who assisted me. I was very impressed with how gentle and professional she was; plus very nice! Other ppl would rush and shoo you out to help the next but Renee took her time to make sure the color was evenly polished & that I was happy with the finished product before I left. Because I've gone to other places for gel manicures, and the polish would start to lift/chip that week! But I was and still am really pleased with the work Renee did to make sure the polish lasts for awhile. I will definitely come back again to see her! I highly recommend making an appt with Renee if you want gel manicures/pedicures done right :) The overall shop was very nice and clean also. The location is easy to get to and there's plenty of parking. They don't accept credit cards at the moment but they will be starting too next month. read more

When returning the next day to ask for a color change to replace the horrid french tip but continued to declare that it wasn't their fault but it was that my nails were bad. I had Mary for a pedicure and she filed my foot so much it bled. Then she left it alone, but only after I said ow four times. After that she put acetone in the cut she made, and to top it all off the tools were not clean. I watched her take them off the cart without washing or sanitizing them and the files had clearly been used. She takes her time, is very sweet and is always making sure you're comfortable. She is the reason I have continued going here. Dont waste your money!!! I went in to get my nails done with my mom and the person doing my nails was super rude. She didn't say one word to me and only talked among her coworkers. The nail polish came off within a couple days so I went in to see if they could give either a refund or redo the nails and she made it seem like it was my fault. She wanted me to pay more money to get the nails redone which I though was crazy since this was their mistake. I really am not one to complain... however I feel this is necessary to let others know. I walked in here in the best mood and that mood within probably two minutes was changed. People come to nail salons usually at the end of their work day or on vacation or whatever but it's usually to have a pleasant and relaxing experience to unwind and feel good about themselves. I did not receive that experience. Firstly the receptionist immediately was rude. I came in with my mother, we often try out different salons together. The receptionist asked if we want manicures or pedicures or both. My mom replied both just the regular manicure for me and she'll have the gel, gesturing to me. I replied Oh yes the shellac but just not those false nails I just want the gel on my actual nails (I just wanted to really clarify as I've had confusion before with what is what). She totally snapped at me and said how that is actually the gel and that I was wrong that the long nails have a name and that it's the full set...Different places have different names how was I to know or care what they called it? I replied that I wasn't aware... I was completely taken aback at the tone of her voice it was incredibly unprofessional. I took my time picking out a color and she was at the chair I was told to go to when I had my colors picked. I approached and she was all the sudden "sugary sweet" (incredibly passive aggressive) and said she brought the gel samples over since I didn't know what they were... Then she preceded to tell me she was going to move a chair out of the way for me so that I could fit in-between easier as she looked me up and down... The most unprofessional passive aggressive experience I have had to date in a nail salon. We then had to wait a while (as expected at 3:30 on a Friday) that I didn't mind but the fact that nobody acknowledged us or said a thing. I understand when there a language barrier, but kindness is a universal language and I felt very uncomfortable. The actual pedicure and manicure was alright, not the best and not the worst I've had. Honestly I'm just really disappointed with the customer service. I didn't want to make any sort of scene because I know myself well enough not to speak when I'm emotionally reacting. I can't say I'll be back. Edit: Well folks, since posting this review (I was still in the nail salon) she addressed the situation which at first I was glad to clear things up... I'm always open to second chances. Until she told me I was being too sensitive, that she can't change the tone of her voice unless she gets it surgically changed and that she wants to hear what I would suggest she does differently. Then preceded to argue with me in front of customers. I was essentially attacked for using yelp... I kept my cool but wow, definitely won't be back. I came here for a regular manicure and pedicure and my toes look great but my manicure is a different story. First they make you sign in to an ipad and store your cell phone number which I don't like and ask to tip in cash only. When I got home my manicure looked terrible. I don't EVER write reviews and proceeded to go speak to them in person the next day but their demeanor prompted me to come here. The nail polish had bubbles in it and you could see where the technician did not put polish on the outside edge of my nail and you could see the first coat compared to the second coat. When I brought this up to them they accused me of holding my hand too close to the fan while it was drying and caused "wrinkles". The polish was not wrinkled, it was caused by laziness. I did not appreciate them trying to spin the story on me when it was clearly a quality issue. Had they been accepting of the issues I would have had no problem but trying to argue that it's my fault was unacceptable. read more
