I am deployed in Juneau Alaska from 5/30/21 to 8/30/21. I immediately look for a nail salon that does powder dipped. I asked several locals and they either said Nail Bar or Nails by Amy. I'm so glad I chose Nails by Amy. When I arrived I was greeted by young Amy's her mom's name is Amy as well. They were so gracious and showed me so much, love. My powder dip nails look spectacular. I had the best pedicure and leg massage ever in my life. These beautiful women have a very clean and CDC-protected nail salon. Their prices are worth the work they put into giving you quality customer service. They have a very cozy and comfortable establishment. I will be returning. Amy's Nail Salon Review: I came here with an appointment and wound up sitting around for almost an hour only to find out that the owner(Amy) and one guy was the only ones working there. To make a long story short Amy wind-up RUINING my nails. I contacted her explaining what the ISSUES were and she agreed to fix them. So I wind up going down there only to get to the salon and see that it was CLOSED! And I can see a message on my phone of her telling me that she has to cancel. This is LITERALLY 10 minutes before the appointment! I explained to her prior to rescheduling an appointment and reiterated when I reach out to her after going to the salon and seeing that text. That it's hard for me to do things with the way my job schedules me. My schedule changes DAILY, literally. And only have one off day during the week. So I just wanted to be refunded and I told her that I would find a way  to remove the nails myself. She made a big deal about it and had a HORRIBLE AttITUDE telling me that I should have said something when I was at the salon or contact her the day after(Mind I contacted her TWO days later( It's not like I waited a week), I was the last person booked and she was RUSHING the ENTIRE time to try to finish before closing! Not to mention I sat around for almost an hour waiting when I HAD AN APPOINTMENT. So if anyone should have  an attitude it should be ME!) The fact that SHE had the audacity to have an attitude with me when SHE RUINED my nails is CRAZY to say the LEAST! She made me give her back a gift card that she gave me to use towards a future appointment for the inconvenience of me waiting around when I had an appointment. Since I wanted to be refunded. Had it not been for that I would have given her another try, but that told me that she really is full of IT and doesn't care about her customers! Prior to choosing a nail salon to go to I came across a place which I later found out she worked at called Capital Hair and Nails which has HORRIBLE reviews( I guess that would explain why I wasn't satisfied with the service. Can't expect anyone coming from a place like that to be good at their job or care about their customers.) So I wound up not going there. I found a business card of hers in the Foodland grocery store in that same parking lot and decided to give them a try since there's literally nowhere else I could find in Juneau to get my nails done at. This is supposed to be a new business that she started on her own and I honestly don't see it lasting! She doesn't know what the hell she's doing, she's EXTREMELY rude and UNPROFESSIONAL and has the AUDACITY to think that a customer is suppose to want to walk around with their nails looking like a CHILD did them. This is LITERALLY the WORST experience I've ever had with a nail salon! I would NOT return OR recommend ANYONE to come here! I'd say do your nails yourself before letting her do them! Below I've attached photos of my nails. Starting with my pinky fingers you can see that the left finger is SIGNIFICANTLY shorter and shaped DIFFERENTLY then the right. Which is much LONGER and WIDER!  The left has more of a COFFIN type shape. The right is more of a SQUARE type shape! -My left ring finger is more of a SQUARE shape my right ring finger is more of an OVAL shape! -My left middle finger is curved going inward. While my right middle finger is more straight and even. -My left pointing finger is SIGNIFICANTLY LONGER, WIDER and shaped COMPLETELY DIFFERENT from the right! It's a SQUARE shape, while my right finger is SIGNIFICANTLY SHORTER, more NARROW and shaped COMPLETELY DIFFERENT with it having a COFFIN type shape! -My thumbs look like they were an ATTEMPT at a coffin shape with the right one being longer. -The icing on the cake was that my nails were NOT evenly polished and had LUMPS on some of them! *NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS WOULD I HAVE THOUGHT THAT I WOULD EXPERIENCE SOMETHING LIKE THIS GOING TO A NAIL SALON! I'd be too EMBARRASSED to have left these on! *** I HONESTLY FEEL LIKE THIS WOMAN DIDN'T EVEN BOTHER WATCHING A YouTube TUTORIAL BEFORE SHE DECIDED TO JUST GO AHEAD AND OPEN UP A BUSINESS TO DO NAILS! Nails By Amy - WORST NAIL JOB IN THE ENTIRE WORLD! - Nail Salons Near Me - Juneau, Alaska

I went in to get a regular manicure with regular nail polish and a fancy gel pedicure. If speed, nail painting was a sport, Amy would win, hands-down. Unfortunately painting nails quickly results in poor quality. Amy moved too quickly from hand to hand allowing no time for each layer to dry even the slightest. Polish on nails wasn't consistent and some nails lacked polish covering all of the nail. Result: nails that dried mottled with cracks and bubbles. The pedicure was slightly better due to an amazing leg massage performed by another woman in the salon. So five stars to her. However, when I told her, I wanted short toe nails, she REALLY cut them short. When filing them, she kept grinding where the nail meets the skin- ouch. What wasn't cut/trimmed were the cuticles on my toes which meant when Amy speed painted them, she painted over the cuticles. Also, due to them being cut so short, I ended up with two ingrown toenails, which I've never had before. I've heard great things about this place, but my experience was not so great. read more

Not sure why this is called Amys Nail Salon because this is called Nails by Amy BUT going to Nails By Amy is always such a special treat! She's great at what she does and everybody there is always so professional and treats me well. Not to mention her nail art (freehand mind you) is the best in town. She definitely spoils her customers and has super fun services like the jelly pedicure or the dip powder manicure. I have only had great experiences here.
