Keep your bottles of Irn Bru, packets of Paracetamol and hours tucked up in bed. The only thing that I need to cure a hangover is a visit to my local one stop lunch shop! Named for it's soups and rightly so! Naked soup has been churning out the best in home made goodness since I moved to Glasgow. Recently had a Chorizo broth that would have blown the face off of a buffalo, but spicey is how I like me grub! The sandwhiches in here are also very good and all home made as well. £4.95 sees you walk away with a soup, sandwhich, drink and peice of fruit. Bargain considering how good the stuff is! Nice atmosphere to sit in, but it is usually quite busy so I usually enjoy the delights of Naked Soup with my flatmates infront of our telly!

Lovely mushroom soup and sandwich combo.

Fantastic little cafe serving soup and sandwiches. Great atmosphere that reminded me a bit of the diner in Batteries Not Included. They show a film on a big screen too which is nice. Soup and sandwich is a great deal; I had mushroom soup with an excellent pastrami and pickle sandwich. Super friendly staff too.

I cherish the day I found Naked Soup. If you like going out for lunch, eating healthy and saving money this is the place for you. It does fantastic meal deals, such as a sandwich, drink, soup and piece of fruit of your choice for under a fiver. The soup is homemade and delicious, and the two guys behind the counter are absolute gents. The only downside to Naked Soup, is it's a best kept secret that everyone knows about; it can be hard to get served on a busy lunch time without a lot of queuing, plus there isn't a lot of seats so you may find yourself having an impromptu outside lunch in the park, so pray for good weather. If you're lucky enough to get your next lunch from Naked Soup, try the lentil, sweet potato and coconut soup, with the meal deal. Fantastic value for money!

Tremendous little cafe which fully deserves its success. Unlike many other similar-sized West End eateries, this place works hard to offer original and appropriately priced snacks, particularly in tems of its soup. The only problem is how busy it tends to be at lunch times. Getting a seat can be impossible so hopefully it may extend or open another branch in the future.

Located just off Great Western Road on Kersland Street the vibe here is welcoming, cool and laid back, they mostly supply the good people of the west end with take away, but you can find a few booths inside and a small seated area outside to eat in if you prefer. This is not really somewhere I would linger for long, not because the staff wouldn't make you feel welcome but because it is so busy at lunch time I would hate to take up a table for too long. The staff are pleasant and will usually say hello and have a smile for me when I come in but on the whole are normally too busy to engage in more than the briefest of conversations which I don't mind, like I say they are super busy so I don't take it too personally. There are a few members of staff who are perhaps a tiny bit on the glum side...but I think this is just their personality so again don't let this put you off. :-) Food wise as you would expect there are lots of soups on the menu - always on the board is lentil, sweet potato and coconut soup, then usually another 2 options which change around. Some of my personal favourites include - cumin & parsnip, tomato & celery and a chicken & rice (which is hardly ever on but amazing) If you are unsure if you will like a soup just ask them for a little sample to try which they are always happy to give you. Now you may think initially that the soup is a little expensive at £4.20 for a medium carton but this includes a huge chunk of fresh bread and a piece of fruit so in fact is pretty reasonable. Also on offer is a selection of all day breakfasts my favourites being the square sausage roll which is always awesome and freshly made pancakes which are fantastic, but you do have to wait a wee while for them. There is a beautiful selection of sandwiches, paninis and cakes to tempt you too. To top it all off they also make a pretty mean latte...well worth trying when you are next in the west end and looking for some lunch.

The wife ordered their "Fisherman" which is pan seared Scottish coley or pollock (for 27 GBP). The battered fish with the chips was more delicately done here and delicious. As an aside I tried several times to find a place here in Glasgow or in Edinburgh that did a "special" fish and chips, that is breaded with crumbs and not battered, but apparently no one does that healthier old school preparation anymore (and I need to inform my old work colleague who hailed from Glasgow and gave me this inside tip that it's not practiced anymore). I also had a Chieftain IPA. The side of peas were dryish and not flavorful and small portioned and not done as well and tasty as I have had in London or Perth, just saying. We also had their sticky toffee pudding with ice cream for dessert and that was good. The fries were mediocre. Server was friendly and attentive. 4 stars overall and a nice local flavor Glasgow outing.

Even though I'm a south sider, I don't really visit this area very often so I don't know what it replaced but it's a lovely, cosy space - couches, tables, lots of space and very bright inside. I was warmly welcomed and shown the menu and told what was available today. I was there in the afternoon which meant they'd sold out of quite a bit of stuff - but that shows they're popular and making stuff fresh, which is great! I ended up ordering the full breakfast (£4.95) and asked for the black pudding and beans to be left off. It didn't take long (even though it was freshly cooked) and was a generous plate of food. I loved the roasted tomatoes, bacon and sausage which were all lovely. I don't really like scrambled egg but overall it was a tasty breakfast which was just the afternoon perk I needed. I stayed for a while doing some work and they kindly offered me their wifi code which was nice. The owners are really lovely folk who really want to make their customers comfortable and well looked after which I appreciated. As the name says, there is a huge range of cakes too but I didn't try any on this visit. I'll be back soon though as I want to try their soup!

The day's soups were spinach and lentil, and chorizo and tomato which was more of a stew. The spinach and lentil was delicious, rib sticking thick and tasty, tasty. My chicken salad sandwich on thick wholemeal contained proper roast chicken. The accompanying side salad had a balsamic dressing and included ribbons of carrot along with the usual ingredients. I usually view coleslaw in cafes with suspicion as they are often sour and vinegary and come straight out of a catering pack. This coleslaw was made on the premises tasting of fresh veg and creamy mayonnaise. Regulars popped in and out, on first name terms with the soup man and cake lady confirming this wee cafe's role in the community. Oh and the coffee was great as well.
