    Ambur Chicken Biryani
    Ramesh A.

Went to this place with my friends for dinner. We were greeted and seated as per our needs. While they presented the menu, I was informed about the weekend specials. It was a full packed restaurant on a Friday evening. We ordered appetizers for vegetarian, and we ordered anarkali paneer Tikka, Karam Podi Gobi. For non-veg appetizers, we ordered fish fry, and the fish fry was a weekend special , we also ordered chettinad pepper chicken. With the crowd the time they took to get the orders to us was amazing. The food was served with the right temperature and Ambience of the restaurant was beautiful. The appetizers tasted delicious especially the car company Gobi was fantastic. Our non-vegetarian fish fry was cooked to perfection. Then we are ordered egg dum biryani and weekend special ambur chicken biryani. Ambur chicken biryani was more spicy and salty. Overall, it was good, but I would have expected the test to be great. That egg dum biryani was good. Overall, we enjoyed the visit and would definitely try the appetizers again. Don't miss this place. Give it a chance, and you won't be disappointed.

I threw a party at this venue and each and every guest of mine (including-both Americans and Asians) showered praises for selecting such a nice venue. It's on mainline and easily accommodated 100+ guests. Their appetizers included a chat counter as well as handpicked delicacies like Chicken Lollypop and Tawa Fish and an array of delicious entrees. Last but not the least their homemade dessert was a cherry on top; just try the "Rasmalai cake baked in jar" and you will realize why this restaurant is so highly rated by the locals.

Spectacular Indian food in Downingtown!!! Restaurant was spacious, classy and clean. Service was great and the food was absolutely delicious! Food was fresh, excellent seasoned with excellent portion sizes. Current menu had excellent choices and I was informed will be growing. The staff were extremely kind and attentive. I saw quite a few take out orders but if looking for a nice place to have dinner I would highly recommend dining in. Have found my new favorite Indian place! Will definitely be back and will be telling all my friends, family, and coworkers. Highly recommend!!! They just recently opened so go check them out because I have no doubt they will soon become a packed place.

Food was very good and lot if options for vegetarians . Karamgobi was excellent, we have ordered chilli panneer and felt little tangy. Veg biryani was as usual very good. Ordered idiyappam and veg stew. veg stew was so good with lots of vegees and like coconut flavor of it!

    Garlic Naan, very delicious!

The food has good flavors overall. Staff were friendly. Everything was spicy except the naan. I enjoy spicy but when the veggie samosas were spicy I thought that was a bit much. However, they were delicious and would have been even without the extra kick. Food travels pretty well. I ordered to go.

Chicken Tikka Masala with rice and butter naan

I had a craving for Indian food so I stopped in for dinner. My chicken tikka masala was silky smooth and the rice and butter naan were perfect compliments. Delicious! The restaurant was clean and had a modern feel. I will definitely be back to try more. The waiter was a nice guy and helpful.

Their prices are very reasonable and the food is absolutely delicious, ESPECIALLY their goat roast biryani. It was incredible! Rice was perfectly cooked, wonderfully spiced, and the portion of goat meat was generous and the meat was tender, fresh and flavorful. Their masala chai is also excellent. Great balance of a full flavored black tea that was very creamy and well spiced. We also tried the bitter chicken and the goat curry. Both were amazing. The butter chicken was rich, thick, and flavorful. The goat curry was perfect! Meat was tender, again great portion size of meat, and the curry itself was wonderfully spiced. You have the option of choosing your spice level - we chose spicy, and it was a good spice level for us since we do like spicy food. The dining area is bright and cheery and they have Tamil and Telegu movies playing on the screens. The girls at the front are just so kind. We were greeted right away and they chatted with us while we waited for our order. They really were so sweet and were able to give us recommendations on what to order and knew their menu so well. There is a spacious parking lot and plenty of handicap accessible spaces right near the restaurant which was helpful. Overall we had an excellent experience at Southern Spice. Great food, very fair prices, cooked well and authentic flavors. And I really cannot say enough about the hostess and waitress. Honestly some of the best service I have ever had. Will absolutely be back!

Somehow these guys didn't make it onto the list until recently. Don't make our mistake. While service is a bit spotty and the food may take a little longer to come out - the food is well worth a little extra wait. Outstanding on every level. A true surprise. Prices are more than fair. Portions are above average. On the Flavor scale these guys nailed it - 10 out of 10. We have numerous indian restaurants near us - so even with lots to choose from i'd put these guys right up there with Manan's and other local standouts. Might have been the first time for us - but most definitely will not be the last.

We were seated in the dining area, which was cozy, not sure if they had additional seating elsewhere since I did see stairs leading upstairs. We ordered butter chicken wings, palak paneer, Hyderabadi Mutton Dum Biryani and some garlic naan, all mild in spice level. The food came out pretty fast, which was a plus since we were both hungry from a long day. Everything tasted great, and the spice level was just right for us. Though not many patrons dining in at the time, they had quite a few to-go orders and pickups while we were there. Would definitely go back again.

But today is Tuesday, friends, and fortune smiled upon me. We had an Indian FEAST tonight and it's some of the best Indian food I've ever had (and we love it in this house). We got samosas (my favorite Indian snack) with a zippy lil mint chutney that was absolutely slammin'. There was Karampodi Chicken: flavorful, spicy, and deeeeee-licious. There was garlic naan, soft and wonderfully garlicky, and a light, crispy masala dosa served with chutney and sambar that was absolutely to die for. The chicken tikka was rich and spicy, and the Andrha Shrimp Curry was incredible. Delicious and SPICY. We got takeout so I can't comment on the atmosphere of the restaurant or service, but the food is an absolute home run.

We were sat as a party of 5 and were told very firmly that the kitchen closed at 10. So we figured it out quickly. Then we waited and waited for the waitress to come back. I gave chase around the corner and at 9:55 finally got her to come over to order. As we were ordering, the waitress cut my bud Vog off telling him to hurry. Insane. Then one in our party had to make a call but left us his order to put in - they didn't have any of it. Then she didn't write any of our order down -- 5 people. I ordered the butter chicken mild, which comes with rice. I added garlic naan and cheese naan as well. When the food came out it was solid - I'll give them that. Naan was good -- BUT THEY FORGOT THE CHEESE NAAN I ORDERED. Would have been nice to write that down ??? If this was take out - it would probably be 3.5-4 stars but the horrible attitude, the pushiness when ordering, and the you don't belong her feeling we were given is inexcusable.
