Adyar Cafe is a very different kind of Indian restaurant. Although you can order dishes often found in Indian restaurants in America, go there for their authentic South Indian food. The pongal, vadais, dosais, sambhar and chutneys were exceptionally tasty. We also enjoyed their chickoo milk shake and paan ice cream. Although we didn't try theem, their extensive menu also has Indian Chinese food as well as unusual fusion dishes like curry leaf pasta. We will definitely go back.

What truly stands out is the level of creativity and execution coming out of the kitchen under Chef Brandon Beringer. This is a fully plant-based tasting menu, but it never once feels like a compromise. Each course is intentional, beautifully presented, and layered with flavors and textures that rival any traditional fine dining experience. The progression of the meal is especially impressive -- dishes build on one another in a way that feels curated and purposeful, not just a sequence of plates. It's clear that a great deal of thought goes into both the composition of each dish and the overall arc of the evening. What makes this even more notable is that Ground Provisions has earned recognition as a James Beard Award semifinalist, a well-deserved acknowledgment of the quality and originality of what's being created here. For anyone who appreciates thoughtful, chef-driven dining -- whether you're plant-based or not -- this is a must-visit. It's not just a meal, it's an experience.

So we drove there but were not sure it was open. It was. Just dark. And some things on the menu were not available. But everyone was super nice and they brought us a menu that had what they offer in a blackout. With the flashlights we looked over the menu. They had probably about 8 customers not including the 2 of us. So they were trying to accommodate. I got the watermelon tomato gazpacho and the chick pea caesar salad. Both were very good. On the gazpacho I wish there was a bit more watermelon flavor and chunks. The salad was good. Very hearty. My friend got the mushroom po boy. She liked it as well. The server was very nice and attentive. The lights eventually came back on about 3/4 the way through our meal. So now we could see. The place is cute and the fans were welcome on a humid evening. You have to pay to park. And the restaurant is all the way down on the right. The area is very cute and kinda touristy. The only down side besides paying to park are the prices. Just because it's vegan doesn't mean it's cheap. It's not. Prices are higher. Just for my soup and salad my dinner was $28. I guess that could be standard but I got soup and a salad. But it was good. I would go back, just not often. Overall good experience in a challenging evening with the blackout.

The food was delicious! They serve vegetarian and vegan food. Flavor bombs throughout all of the shared plates we ordered. It's hard to pick a favorite between the peach salad, falafel, pizza and corn. Lots of free parking and they have a very cool event schedule. They have an amazing outdoor space that is perfect on a nice day. Lots of room for kids to play and they even had a ping pong table! Something to note is that I didn't realize this was not part of the New Hope/Lambertville part of town. It was about 20 minutes further out towards Point Pleasant where many go tubing! The restaurant, bar and outdoor are accessible to all, but if you have a problem with stairs, that is the only way to get to the upstairs space. I hope to return again for some of their other cool events! Definitely a unique spot to check out if you get the chance.

Abby Hoffman of Yippie fame was an organizer, frequently hanging out here and speaking his form of political enlightenment. That was then. Now, little has changed in the early 18th Century riverside village far north of New Hope and Lumberville that feels like Middle Earth from Lord of the Rings. The bar is still in the basement. The backyard is still a peaceful glade for sipping cocktails or beer and listening to guitar or banjo chords and softly harmonic voices. Their website calls those days, "a simpler time," but I disagree. In fact, those days were complicated times as the community attempted to decide the future of Bucks and the ageless value of the natural flow of water. Demonstrations up and down the pristine Delaware were loud and at times destructive. Even back to Revolutionary times, the local patriots challenged the powers that be by word and deed, while others were loyal to the crown and spied on the rest or thieved horses to sell to the British. No. Those were the "times that tried men's souls." Hardly, simple. Nonetheless, the current incarnation of this tavern does possess the spiritual focus of Jack Kerouac, the author of Dharma Bums, On the Road and other highly influential books in my life. For that, I am grateful. My visit last weekend had me wondering why I hadn't been back in decades. The soulfulness mixed so well with local history, and but for the narrow paved roads and power lines, it could just as easily have been 1776 as 2026. The perfect place to celebrate and reflect on the 250th Anniversary of this inspirational country. Last night, the cocktails were well stirred and shaken. My Tamarind Margarita (without salt) was crisp with a pleasant tart kick. The Elote Corn Bite delicious and satisfying. The companionship of a dear friend, heartwarming. The live soundtrack from the local musicians, very well strung and sung. This may well become the best experience of 2026. Their prices are very reasonable and the food is absolutely delicious, ESPECIALLY their goat roast biryani. It was incredible! Rice was perfectly cooked, wonderfully spiced, and the portion of goat meat was generous and the meat was tender, fresh and flavorful. Their masala chai is also excellent. Great balance of a full flavored black tea that was very creamy and well spiced. We also tried the bitter chicken and the goat curry. Both were amazing. The butter chicken was rich, thick, and flavorful. The goat curry was perfect! Meat was tender, again great portion size of meat, and the curry itself was wonderfully spiced. You have the option of choosing your spice level - we chose spicy, and it was a good spice level for us since we do like spicy food. The dining area is bright and cheery and they have Tamil and Telegu movies playing on the screens. The girls at the front are just so kind. We were greeted right away and they chatted with us while we waited for our order. They really were so sweet and were able to give us recommendations on what to order and knew their menu so well. There is a spacious parking lot and plenty of handicap accessible spaces right near the restaurant which was helpful. Overall we had an excellent experience at Southern Spice. Great food, very fair prices, cooked well and authentic flavors. And I really cannot say enough about the hostess and waitress. Honestly some of the best service I have ever had.
