I took my dog in for a grooming today and Namast'ay did a great job. They were done in just a couple of hours and my dog came home squeaky clean and with a cute haircut. They even sent me photos of my dog during her stay: the very sullen and unhappy dog getting a bath and a quite relaxed dog getting her trim. Ashley is the only person I will now let groom my 30 lbs. Mini-Golden Bernadoodle. I went to her in July after after a horrible groom experience and she fixed his cut. (for free might I add, but I did give her a tip that was not asked for) I didn't go back because I have 20 other groomers closer to me, so I tried 7 other places. SEVEN. They all told me Teddy was a bad dog. I've been humiliated and felt like it was actually him, until today. "I couldn't do his paws he was too wiggly." "I couldn't cut his face straight because of him." "I couldn't groom his fanny because he wouldn't sit still." "I couldn't trim his nails because xyz." "He jumped off the table and peed." ^^^ Clearly my poor dog has been tramatized, and these are $100+ places with 5 star ratings!!!!!!!!!! Including Wag Hotels in Redwood City. DO not use. I could go on and on, but you get the point. It was always HIS fault. Ashley told me the first time, he was great. She even found a large burr between his toes that the groomer missed and could have hurt him badly and caused real medical and financial issues for us both. After the groomer bathed him and spent 3 hours and $150 with him. Today, she said he was even more calm. He looks perfect. Smells great. He didn't even acknowledge me when I came in. Not panting and anxious. Didn't bark and cry when he saw me. Calm and happily walking around with the other doggies wagging his tail like he was in heaven. Ashley, I do not know what you do, but it is magic. Dogs are happy, calm and its a stress free spa day, actually. NO kennels. No kennel loud dryers where your dog sits alone crying with a cage blower. This may not be for every dog. These people are awful. I brought my cocker spaniel there this morning to be groomed. She had surgery recently, so her grooming had been a little neglected while she healed, which is why I scheduled an appointment with a "professional". The owner told me that she would have to have a shave, with no skirt. I asked if she couldn't selectively take off the matting, and save the skirt. She said no. I said ok, I'll skip it. So this women started telling me how brushing the mats out was torture and that it would ruin her hair follicles and her skirt wouldn't grow back. I said that I had no intention of brushing the mats out, and that it is inappropriate to accuse me of torturing my dog. She started yelling how she is a professional and how dare I question her. Take your dog to Bow Wow Meow. They do a much nicer job and actually act like professionals. read more

The groomer here was a LIFESAVER. My dog's dew claws had gotten way too long and painful to the point that my dog would not let me grind them like I used to be able to do. I passed by Namast'ay on my way to something else and they had their door open so I quickly inquired if they could help me. The woman working there told me to hold my dog while she quickly clipped his dew claws. Before me and my dog could catch our breath, his dew claws were all clipped and the issue was resolved! She didn't charge me, so I cannot recommend this place enough for both skill and customer service. 30 seconds of her effort saved me and my dog so much stress and pain. I could really tell she was experienced and skilled. Next time I need the nails clipped, I am definitely going back here! read more

Our dog got a subconjunctival hemorrhage and hematoma (blood collection/bruise) of her right eye from here. Never bringing them back. Vet said it's usually from BLUNT TRAUMA to the eye or sometimes a tight choker can cause a blood vessel in the eye to burst :(. Luckily vet told us it was superficial and no deeper structures of her eye were damaged. The worst part is, no one called us and notified us. The groomer just mentioned it casually when i picked her up. " oh we noticed her right eye is red" , like it was a conjunctivitis or something that didn't happen there. But when I saw her eye I knew what it was and it happened there. I know accidents happen and I'm sure (hope?) that there was no attentional abuse. But be honest to your clients, admit if something went wrong, notify us immediately. Eye stuff can be time sensitive, potentially permanently damaging had it been a serious injury. We took her to the vet immediately, 150 bucks later, she's ok, but the trust is gone. Sad we will have to look for another groomer. We liked it there, they did a good job with the cuts and I liked that my dog can roam around. But not worth the risk . read more

I knew my girl was going to need trimming and she's been trimmed by Namast'ay before, but this time the poor thing was scalped/butchered even to the point of an actual triangular gouge in the hair on the top of her head - and I thought the hair couldn't get any shorter. My husband and I moved to San Carlos recently and I was skeptical about finding a local groomer to replace our old one, but I am a huge fan! We have a Lhasa Apso who is easy to groom and a Shih Tzu who is not, and Ashley and Amanda are great with both of them. Chewy in particular (the Shih Tzu) was originally a street dog and has never been good with grooming (up until now there was only 1 groomer he didn't bite), but these ladies are true professionals and were so sweet in taking their time with him. They didn't rush or push him, and they somehow managed to trim his face the shortest it's ever been. If I could give negative starts, I'd do it for this place. We just moved into town, and took our dog in for grooming. At our old house we had a groomer that we liked who spent around four hours grooming our dog, and did a good job. Coming into Namast'ay there were a number of warning signs that we ignored, that we probably shouldn't have. First, they did not ask for vaccination records. Almost every where you take your dog you need bring records, but not this place. Second, when I dropped my dog off at around nine they said it would be three hours. It is my belief (which I could be wrong) that there were two groomers going at once, and eight to twelve dogs running around, and all of the owners were being told to pick up around noon. It seemed like their time budgeting was off. Forty minutes later I received a text with a video telling me that my dog needed to be shaved because of matting. This was a first for us since our previous groomer always noted how good we were with brushing. With disappointment I authorized it; in hindsight, I should have just told them to hold our dog. Neither me nor my wife were able to pick our dog up after she was done, so we had a friend do it. Shortly after being picked up, we got a call from our friend with our daughter telling us that our dog was bleeding. We thought that was strange. Upon inspecting our dog, she had cuts in both of her ears, and was indeed bleeding. She wouldn't stop shaking her so we had to take her to the vet on our vacation to Tahoe. After our $80 visit we had to give her topical meds and two pain pills for a week. I'm no grooming expert, but if your grooming session ends with a vet visit and doggie opiates, you're doing it wrong. read more

Refused to shave my dog since they said my Type of dog breed shouldn't be shaved. I specifically needed that to happen since my dog had been exposed to mold which has made Me very ill. They could have at least shaved some of her. Now I'm noticing symptoms in myself of mold exposure after having my dog back for one day. Huge bummer. I'll have to give her back to my parents or find another solution ASAP. I wish they had requested to speak to me about these specific medical needs or refused to groom my dog if they wouldn't meet my needs. Open and airy, our dog trotted right in and was instantly happy! There is no sense of confinement which is the case with other places we have been to. I've used Namas'te for both my pups for the past few years. And at first they were great. I was happy to regularly schedule appointments with them because my dog's cuts were so well done. However, the quality of the cuts began to go down, so I stopped using them for some time. I decided take the pup back to Namas'te. Both came back with choppy cuts, beards gone and one has a nicked ear. They won't go back. I hope Namas'te get back to the high quality grooming they used to have. read more

Yes, my dog looks great. But, Ashley is not taking the Covid issue seriously. She was not masked nor was the other man in there with her when I dropped my dog off. In retrospect, I should have walked out with my dog, but in all honestly, I think I was shocked and the dog had been groomed in months. When I return, still no mask. She should be fined. As I drove home today I decided that I had absolutely had to leave a yelp review because I'm so pleased with Ashley (and/or whoever else) services Spade. We moved to California from Michigan a few months ago and Spade has been here a 3 times so far. The first time I came I noticed there were BLM posters in the windows, I was a little shocked, but it was really nice to see. I'm sure people probably roll their eyes when they see it, but it made me feel safe, valued and welcomed. Aside from that, I'm really glad to have found Ashley. It's hard to get a good doodle cut at a decent price so I was shocked that I liked the first groomer I tried since moving here and it wasn't a million trillion dollars like I expected. Booking online is super easy and fast too. I love it. Spade's had two full haircuts here and one FFF. I love that the dogs aren't caged while they're there and he's always done at the time she tells me when I drop him off. I know Spade probably gives her a hard time with trimming his nails because he hates having his paws touched but they are always trimmed well. I also like that she shaves the hard to brush/easily missed places (armpits, just behind the ears, belly) pretty short because he gives me such a hard time when I try to brush them and it doesn't stop his cut from looking great every time. It's usually just Ashley when I drop him off and then a guy there with her when I pick him up. Neither one of them have ever been rude to me but come on people, she's got dogs running around, usually a dog on the table, fans blowing and she wears ear plugs. It's not time to sit and have tea and talk about the weather lol. After reading some of the bad reviews I think some people here are just impossible to please.
