I attempted to schedule dog walking for my dog months ago in advance for entire summer. Not anyone was available to walk my little pip squeak dog. I love my cats with every fiber of my being. They are the most important things in the world to me and I would do anything for them... but that doesn't mean I don't know that they are little dickheads who can be very hard for anyone who is not me to love. My main fear having moved away from all my family who know the deal with my little buggers and their bad boy behavior was that if I needed to go away for work or anything that I wouldn't be able to find someone who could find it in their heart to love and care for my little butthole boys while I'm away. I mean, they're mostly sweet to me, but to other people they can definitely be a bunch of jags. They mean well, though, and when I have to be away from them it's still very important to me that they get the love, attention, and care that they've grown accustomed to and I'm super grateful to Bay Area Pet Pals for existing and taking good care of my Baes when I've been out of town. Lynda is the HBIC (and I mean that in the best way possible). You'll fill out a mega ton of paperwork on each of your pets and your home before your booking. The forms are very, VERY detailed but for good reason, I'm sure. No detail should go un-noted because you just never know what kind of trouble your pet could (but hopefully won't) get into. Before you go out of town, you'll make arrangements to have the sitter come over, see your place, meet your pets and get comfortable in what would otherwise be a very strange situation for all involved. I've used BAPP for two extended weekends now and have had 3 different sitters throughout all the visits. I have to say that Kate is far and away my favorite. She's the sweetest woman and you can tell she just lives and breathes animals, specifically cats. She's super dutiful with sending an email every time she visits (I sign up for her to come twice a day am/pm) and to send me pics of each of my boyz on all her visits. It's nice to see that they're doing ok and hear little anecdotes while I'm out of town and missing my bad boy baby loves. On my last trip away, Kate even went so far as to hand knit little cat toys for each of my boys and they love them more than any of their millions of other toys. Probably because I know Kate made them with love. It was so cute and they now drive me nuts all night long chasing and throwing around their little mice toys. And as much as it kills me to say it, I think my guys probably missed Kate going away more than they missed me. Prices vary based on type of pet, if your pet needs any medications and how many visits per day your pet needs. I schedule the petsitter to come twice a day for my guys and the cost is $33 a visit, I believe, and that includes giving my one boy his meds everyday, taking care of the litter box and feeding them a zillion cans of food a day because these b*tches are hella spoiled and that's just the life they know now. It's not cheap, but it's worth it and my boys have always been in as good of shape as I left them when I've returned, without any acting out or anything. 100% will continue to use BAPP. read more

I love Bay Area Pet Pals and Lynda! My dog and I are so happy and pleased with everything. When I tell Kai that we are going to Lynda's for doggy day care, he gets really excited. He cannot wait to get out of the car when we pull up to her home. He runs straight to the door and doesn't bother saying bye to me when I drop him off. There are many reasons why I love Lynda's day care and overnight: 1 - she has two of her own dogs and Kai LOVES them 2 - she loves dogs and genuinely loves being with them and takes them to the park and beach (how awesome is that!) 3 - she sends updates during the day (for day care) and multiple updates (text, pics, video) for overnights. 4 - her home is spacious and clean. I never have to worry that there will be a dog fight. 6 - she is very flexible with time (pick-up/drop off) 7 - she is very responsive when you message her 8 - she lets Kai snuggle in her bed during overnight stays (no crate) I think I can go on and on but bottom line is - if you need doggy day care or overnight or dog walking, Lynda is the very best person in the area! How have I not reviewed Bay Area Pet Pals yet?! I found Lynda when I was in something of a pickle (and ice cream?) at nine months pregnant, new to the area and no one to watch my pets while we were in the hospital in September of 2009 to have our first baby. Lynda came to the rescue, only having the opportunity to meet my two (large, shaggy) dogs and cats two weeks before my due date. Then, when emergency surgery wound up happening, that turned into a one week lead time for a full week of full-time care for my critters. Text messages with every visit, important details everyday on the well being of my pets and a Christmas card in December were all awesome. My dogs got to stay home while I was out instead of being shuffled off to a kennel like they were for vacations in the past. This made coming home much calmer for all involved. Let me start by saying that like many animal lovers, my cats are my babies. Before finding BAPP I trusted two people to take care of them - my Mom, and my neighbor (who is also a huge animal lover). Unfortunately, my neighbor moved out of the area, and I wanted to take Mom on a short vacation to Tahoe. After a lot of research I decided to go with BAPP. Maya came to meet the kitties for a consultation. I have two cats - Casey, who is very friendly and loves everyone, and her brother Leo-who is 15lbs of 100% pure, unfiltered, scaredy-cat. I was fully expecting him to run for the hills as soon as the door opened (as per usual). But Maya came in very quietly and immediately crouched down to greet him with soft words. Not only did he NOT run for the hills, but he bumped her hand with his head! If you knew my cat, you would know how epic this is. He has done this to exactly three people (besides me) before Maya - my Mom, my old neighbor and my landlord (even then it took him 4 years to warm up to her). I knew then that she was the right person. I was 100% at ease with leaving them in her care. Maya was very conscientious with keeping me updated twice a day on how they were doing (with photos!). She made sure Casey got her medication (which she can be fussy about) and gave them plenty of love. Lynda (the owner) is very thorough and professional (having all the paperwork online made life SO much easier!!) - not to mention very kind and understanding. I found the price was reasonable (it depends on what services you need) - for my two cats it ended up being $31 per visit (total, not per cat). $60+ a day was WELL WORTH the piece of mind of knowing my kids were in good hands. I can't recommend them enough, they deserve every single 5 star review on here. read more

I travel quite frequently for business. My dog and my cats ARE my kids. Over the years I have taken them to kennels, daycare type places, and tried a few other pet sitting services that I was not too happy with for various reasons, IE...kennel cough, upper respiratory infections, lack of attention, dirty facilities, seemingly uncaring staff, etc... I found Bay Area Pet Pals online and gave them a call, they had a really professional, "good feeling" website with lots of great information. To start off Lynda was very professional and immediately made me feel at ease. I had tons of questions and she answered them all for me and was very patient with this very picky pet owner! ;-) We set a time for her and her son to come and meet me and my "kids". They all actually took to her and her son right away and that is no small feat for one of my cats OR my dog. They got right down on the floor, did a few belly rubs and head scratches and won over the crowd quickly!! She knew her son would be filling in a few days for her while I was gone and she wanted to be sure I met him and was comfortable with him as well as being sure that the pets being OK with him. She took the time to ask me lots of questions about my pets, their routine, feeding times, toys they like, how my dog behaves out on walks and many others I cannot think of at the moment. She even asked me if I wanted to get daily text messages or emails about how my pets were doing.....WOW- that was so cool, I had never even thought of that! Bottom line was, I went on my trip, got my daily text message and when I got home I could tell the pets were happy and content. The treats I had left were almost gone, there was tons of hair in the dogs brush and the cats brush, the food and water bowls were very clean and since my pets drink bottled spring water, I could tell she refreshed it daily as the bottle was really low when I got back. My neighbors had even mentioned they had seen her come by a few times and it was at the exact time of day she had promised me she would be there and they said she spent quite a bit of time there. Since I was not going to be around it was a bit hard to trust someone with your pets AND your home, after all they could not even show up, or just throw some food down and leave...I frankly live in a duplex and asked my neighbors to listen and keep a look out...Yes I am a bit nuts..lol. I am SO glad I found Bay Area Pet Pals...I also like they are a family run service, they have insurance and take great pride in customer service to their furry and human customers! And as a "mom" I feel better that my pets can stay home in their own surroundings, less stress, & less chance of catching anything like at boarding places! GREAT SERVICE! read more

After just a week I ended up calling her up to walk my dog over a 3-day weekend for me. Let me tell you...never have I been so impressed with ANYONE in ANY service before. My poor dog was going absolutely stir-crazy in my small apartment (I'd recently moved into a studio and my dog of 13 years had lived all his life in a house with other animals). Disclaimer: I am a very critical, hard-to-please person. It's only the first day with Bay Area Pet Pals, but I'm pleased as punch already. As other posters have mentioned, Lynda is friendly, professional and exudes trustworthiness and warmth. This must be incredibly difficult to do, as so few business owners seem to be able to do so. We were looking for someone to walk our Akita puppy Monday-Friday, as our regular walker was going back to college. (How dare he further his education at the expense of our puppy! The nerve.) After some failed attempts to connect with a walker on Craigslist, we decided to check Yelp. We called BAPP yesterday, and within five minutes Lynda had called back and offered to swing by our apartment for a walkthrough. We were sold, and so was our puppy. Lynda sent a text message today with a photo of our little guy and an update on his walk (and who was walking him). Totally impressed by this seemingly small gesture -- but again, if it were easy, wouldn't/shouldn't everyone be doing it? Edited from 1 star to 2, on further reflection they responded very quickly and did seem apologetic. If you enjoy spending 30 minutes filling out forms only to be told your dog will not be boarded by them with zero explanation, are willing to prepare your inbox for multiple confused emails about what you are trying to do when it clearly states on the endless form that you are requesting to board your dog, and "Not only will I not board your dog but I will also be on vacation," go ahead and click that little URL redirect. If there is an issue with the description I provided of my pet, wouldn't I benefit from being told? Should there maybe be an indication on the website that you need to do steps 1-3 in such order before they will accept your pet? Glad so many folks have had a good experience with these people, I will not be recommending them. read more
