Ran some errands and figured we'd swing by and grab some items to make sushi at home for a date night. Was I pleasantly surprised when I walked in? 100000% yes! Quite honestly I didn't have any expectations as I've got nothing to compare it to yet, but between the well laid out aisles, ZERO odor (they've got some sea food, spices, teas.. chill folks) greeting you, PLENTY of product, excellent prices you have to make it at least once! Now I didn't go for the whole frozen octopus, or the mochi for dessert, but I did toss in a few 20% proof (woo) Sake that I'm quite excited about (the sweet gal made sure I knew it'll be cloudy, so appreciated that!). Do I have children chop sticks - you know, with the cute little design or animal, perfectly spacing the "how" to use - 100000% I do! Those little rice candies? The bring back childhood eating one rice paper wrapper at a time (it's actually edible!) super fast! Never mind that very underrated fruit, LYCHEEEEE! It's like if Peter Pear and Molly Mandarin had a baby, and named it, Lychee Jolene "Taste Like" Pear-Mandarin. Am I wrong?! Yall gotta go Oh also? I didn't realize pictures or videos aren't allowed without permission, so if OOFG is in here, IM SO SORRY..

I got many tasty treats and he helped me with figuring out the best local cell phone service, how to ship out my packages easily, and gave excellent, detailed recommendations about what Lincoln has to offer. Where else would one go to pick up rye crisps and sprat pate- a healthy alternative to my typical car snack Cheez-Its ® and the principal explanation for why Russians are so strong and Americans so weak? The rye crisps (Finn Crisp) in particular deserve special mention because they actually tasted good unlike most other rye crisps which taste like chalk. I also picked up a hip flask with a Soviet insignia (vodka not included) because you never know when your car might break down in a snowstorm and you need a gulp of vodka to keep up morale on the long walk home from Siberia. Unlike most impulse shopping excursions, I actually regret not buying more here. There were all kinds of useless trinkets which would've made perfect gifts for unpleasant in-laws and distant relatives... Russian dolls, and animated wooden dolls which can be used to teach children about how bears drink vodka and how a Russian father repeatedly spanks his child. Why doesn't Chicago have a store like this?

It's not a super…read moreconvenient location and it's not very close to my home, so I mostly come when I need to get the odd ingredient. I stopped by today in particular to get apples because I forgot to grab them during my normal grocery run and I happened to be nearby. The first thing I noticed was the exterior building. It doesn't look like it's been updated or that well kept up since it was constructed. It looks like the building has aged, and that big sign on a post looks dated as well. The interior was not dirty, but also looked dated and could definitely use a refresh. Businesses in the Regency area tend to look fancier and better well kept up, so I'd like to see this Whole Foods get a little TLC. I just feel like the vibe is off a little from what I would expect. I also expected to see a wider variety of apples. I guess to me Whole Foods means lots of organic and natural items as well as a broader selection than what you might find at conventional grocery store like Hy-Vee. But that really wasn't the case. Other than having lots of organic options, the specific types of apples weren't that unique or exciting. When it came time to check out, there was not a single open register with a human being. They only had self check out open, which is not my immediate preference.

It had so many different places, deli, flowers, huge produce section, and eating area. It was all a bit overwhelming to me. I got a disoriented, like I was roaming Costco or Sam's Club. The food on the salad bar and deli area was the same as what I get in Honolulu though. And I'm not sure if that is good or bad. It's nice to have the familiar dishes I buy at home, but its always nice to try local food from the area.
