The quality of the meat is the best I have found in Omaha. If you like tender steaks and ground beef that's cheaper than the Wal-Mart or Hy-Vee with no gristly surprises stuck in your teeth, try coming here. They will also slice and package the stuff for you REALLY nice, ready for the freezer. Heard about this place and we like elk meat so we thought we'd check them out since their website said they had some. It's not as large as I thought but they had a lot of variety crammed in everywhere. Definitely have to wear a mask to enter. Parking available out front which was nice. There is a little section of gift items and items on sale. Freezers have pork, elk, Buffalo, chicken, lamb, goat, grass fed beef, seafood of all kinds and jerky. There's sauces and sausages, deli meat, beef sticks and smoked meats. It was amazing to see how many different ways meat can be packaged. We picked out the ground elk we wanted and sadly no seafood since we didn't have room to take it home to Colorado. Maybe next time. read more

I will not be going back there. They have a great price on 85% ground beef - $4.99 per pound - but I think it is a lot fattier cut than what they are advertising. Lots of white in the meat, and when I cooked the burgers they significantly shrunk and there was a massive amount of grease. It looked like 70% cut. read more

First and last time customer. Awful communication and customer service. Ordered a bundle online on November 14th, said it would take 5-7 days on the website. Went in on the 5 day mark and was told I'd receive a phone call when it was ready, 13 days later and still no phone call and the website status was stuck on "Processing". Called on the 27th and they gave me the run around and said they'd call me by Friday the 29th, and received no phone call. On Saturday the 30th I sent an email saying I'd dispute the fraudulent charges with my credit card company and that I just wanted a refund. Sunday Dec 1st they magically prepared the order in a couple hours, despite me telling them via email I didn't want it anymore. I called them back and they gave me some sob story about the holidays. No thanks, I just want my money back. I did get a refund, but a little communication would have gone a long way. I wanted the meat BEFORE Thanksgiving, if that wasn't going to be possible that should have been communicated. It never should have taken 17 days to get around to making an order, what a waste of time. read more

Friendly helpful honest butchers. You can get just about any type of meat here, but beef is the name of the game here. I got a bone-in ribeye. I also got some of the house-made sausages. They were as good as they proclaimed. Fantastic bite. No gristle and it tasted like meat versus fillers. The bacon and cheese brats were juicy without feeling fatty. Absolutely INCREDIBLE customer service from these guys. My parents and I came in for the first time this afternoon and were amazed by the amount and varieties of meat. The gentlemen behind the counter talked to us all about the elk and buffalo, telling us about what sold out during the holidays and what was popular. We ended up leaving with several NY strips, bacon wrapped filets, scallops, pork chops, and pork belly ( I've been DYING to make crispy pork belly for months now ) We will absolutely be back and I'll be recommending this meat market to everyone. How have I not review Just good Meats yet?? I have been coming here for over 15 years. But recently they keep getting better and better. The costs and quality are superb especially when compared to the chain grocery strores. While they are not a true Butcher they are a wonderful meat supplier. Everyone working there is super knowledgeable on what they have and very friendly. The cost savings here are impressive. A whole beef Filet here trimmed and packaged is at least 1/2 to 2x the cost of a grocery store while the quality is better. They have wonderful pork options with no solutions to preserve shelf life. They also offer some lunch options I need to try one of these days. They look great. If you are wanting any quality cut of meat this is the place to go~ read more

If anything could be improved, it'd be the parking, if only because some days are quite busy. Still, while parking wasn't simple, the service was great. You can find unusual cuts here at this local "butcher shop" and if I can't find something at the Asian store, I come here. You will find goat meat, ox tails, and some unconventional cuts. You can also get huge slabs of meat like the rack of a pig for ribs. They have fresh, frozen, and marinated so there is definitely some excellent selection. This is OMAHA MEAT at it's finest. This was the first time I have been back since we got a dog, and I loved the "dog bone" bin for marrow bones to give to your dog. I believe these have been either dried or smoked as they dont look like the raw ones I give Henri. It brightened my day that we could bring something home for him. This place amazed me. We got so many different types of meats, cheeses and salads for little to nothing. When you approach this hole in the wall kind of place you're unsure of what you will be walking into, but trust me, it is totally worth it. They have walls and walls of different types of meat. They have fresh& frozen as well for the more exotic kinds. We got the crab salad and the homemade potato salad, and both are great. We also got Cherry wood smoked Bacon; I don't think I can eat store bought bacon again. This was so tender, fatty, and so full of flavor. We got a pork roast stuffed with a cheese and Apple stuffing and it was wrapped in the delicious cherry bacon. Normally, I cannot eat pork because it gets too dry. With this, I could of ate the whole roast. It was tender and juicy. Finally, we got what we went there for, a rack of lamb. The lamb was in nice portions and a nice price. Overall, we cannot wait to go back to this place. We got two salads, two blocks of cheese, bacon, pork roast, a ribeye, and a rack of lamb for $40.00. This beats any competition out of the water. I like going into this Meat store, as everyone is friendly and it reminds me of the old butcher shops that was in the neighborhoods when I was a kid. Small place, with just enough room to walk around, nothing more , nothing less. Nice meat counter when you can buy your steaks and some freezer spaces where you can grab the variety boxes. The staff is friendly , relaxed and helpful with no pushing to buy more as other places do. They do have a small area where you can purchase locally made cheese and other goodies. The steaks themselves are nice sized and are very good. I love getting My New York Strips and Porterhouses here. They also have some good ribs which we buy frequently. Every once in a while we will buy the dog a bone as an extra treat. read more

It all started with their little smokies on Friday night as a snack. My in-laws from San Diego were in town over Labor Day weekend. Naturally, I wanted to show them all the best local spots. And where better to go for steaks then Just Good Meat? We picked up three bone-in rib-eyes. My in-laws said the quality of the cut for the price (about $40 for all three) couldn't be found in San Diego. I was like, hey, this is Nebraska -- what else did you expect? The cashier suggested a Chef's Mate rub that was perfect on the final product. We ate like kings that night. Besides an ever-rotating selection of fresh cuts of beef, chicken, pork and more, the little shop is lined with freezers stocked with all the above and more exotic offerings like alligator and frog legs. They also recently started making their own bbq -- pulled pork, smoked chicken, etc. right alongside house made bbq sauces. This place is seriously the best! So when you walk in, it's a small place and nothing fancy but you don't need fancy when these guys know their stuff. They always are busy when I go and they don't stop moving! They guys are funny and all while doing that know exactly what you are asking for and do everything to help you. When I walked in and asked for 2" thick New York Strip steaks they looked at me like I might have lost my mind. The guy asked if I was going to sous vide them (pretty sure he thought he was going to teach me a thing or two and introduce me to the amazing world of sous vide) so I happily smiled and said "Yup! We always do that and grill them off at the end to make the perfect steak." His look of shock that I even knew what it was made me walk out with a glow. LOL He didn't say it in a condisending way like he could have but rather in a excited teaching moment way so sorry to burst his bubble. ;) We've always been happy with them and so excited they are close to our house. Like the sign says, it's just good meat. The staff is friendly and there is a huge selection of cuts, fresh and frozen. There are some interesting part items, like a 10 lb pail of Texas Chili or the 10 lb pail of Sloppy Joe. There are also a couple of bins of dog bones, which is good because dogs get jealous and will eat a standing rib roast when you're not looking. The prices are amazing. The workers are extremely helpful and will take the time to work with you on getting you what you need. My only complaint would be the prices. It's a very expensive place to get meat.
