I've been a metal head for the last 40 years! I've always wanted a Battle Vest with all the patches of bands I've seen or loved. I'm a portly fellow and could never find a vest. So we rolled into Shirts 'n' Things n started grabbing everything thing, shirts, stickers, patches and knickknacks. The owner came over and introduced himself and we struck up a conversation about music, the military and his store. Overall, it used to be a really dope and unique store. Recently, I feel the quality has gone downhill like almost every other store nowadays. There are still cool things to look at, but most of the clothes are very poor quality, printed on polyester with loose threads, lots of fast fashion, shirts that crack within 1-2 wash cycles, socks that are so thin you can see all 5 toes. $55 studded belts with PLASTIC studs. I see things in this store that I've seen on Temu ads with a $35 price tag. Not very alternative if you ask me. The employees are also very pushy and make me want to leave, constantly talking to you and following you around the store. Sad. read more

So many fun choices here! Shirts n Things is a pretty long drive from my house, but it is well worth it for the selection of T-shirts, accessories, and shoes. The sales team here is friendly without being overbearing and they give you enough space to browse, but not to ever feel abandoned. Everyone is super helpful and knowledgeable. My young teen is living their best goth kid life right now, and loves trips to Shirts 'n' Things. They always find some thing fun representing new bands. They are into and bands I loved "back in the day"! It is fun for us to go shopping together here. read more

Where the hell do I start with this absolutely awesome place? Do I start with the horror shirts? The amount of stickers? Ruby's help with the vest and patches? Because they were all so awesome! I walked out with a Texas Chainsaw Massacre shirt, some stickers, and the start of an Eddie Munson vest, and amongst all that, I got some other cool shit as well. Found this shop looking for unique t-shirts for my nephew for X-mas. It looked a little like a 80's head shop from the outside but when you go through the door you realize what an absolute cornucopia of treasures it is. Everywhere I looked (and it is considerabley larger than it appears from outside) there was something to interest literally everyone. First I had an 'seasoned' man (nice way to say almost as old as me) help me but when telling him what the nephew listened to (by mimicry not name) he directed me to a young lady behind the counter who made some great suggestions based on the limited information I provided. I am planning to go back for some great classic rock t-shirts for my brother's birthday and have been sending customers their way from several age groups and music genres. Really awesome store. The name pretty much says it all: they have tons of shirts (primarily band t-shirts) and tons of collectibles. You'll find posters, stickers, figurines, bags, purses, backpacks, and patches. It's similar to a Hot Topic. The employees are all very helpful. They'll package items for you and hold items up front until you're ready to pay. As much as I LOVE this store, I have two pain points. 1. The store is very claustrophobic. Best to avoid this place on weekends or else you'll be pressing bodies trying to squeeze between all the racks and shelves. 2. Lines can be enormous. I don't think I've ever been in line for less than 30 minutes. Again, I truly love this store. I plan to keep going back despite the issues noted above. read more

I found this store during a Yelp search after my son asked about goth stores in Phoenix. Yelp led me to Shirts n' Things, so we decided to take a drive and check them out. I am so glad that we did! I spent the first 30-45 minutes rummaging through their amazing poster selection. Posters ranging from current pop culture in movies and music to movies, TV shows, and icons from the 50s-80s. All posters were in alphabetical order, but I suggest browsing them all, as you might find some pleasant surprises. In addition to the paper posters, they have a bunch of cloth posters too. Once I left the poster section, I made my way around the rest of the store. There were funky-cool shower curtains, shoes, women's undies, socks, pillows, journals, puzzles, lighters, incense, knickknacks, and racks upon racks of t-shirts (from Metallica and Slayer to Lamb of God and Of Mice and Men) and patches. They sell vest and if you purchase a vest and the patches from them, they will iron on the patches for you at no additional cost (not sure if there's a limit to the number of patches they'll do for free, so be sure to inquire ahead of time). They have the coolest selection of purses and bags, which include Pokemon, The Nightmare Before Christmas, coffin, and cross bags. They have a cute selection of baby and toddler shirts too. They have about a 1/2 dozen cases (or more) of jewelry. Rings, necklaces, bracelets, earrings, skulls, crosses, animals, spikes, steel, silver, and leather. So goth, 90's Marilyn Manson just shed a tear of joy. Aside from an awesome selection of everything, the employees and the owner were all extremely nice and helpful. Be sure to sign up for their VIP club! Great family-owned store. 100x better than Hot Topic and Spencer's. I live no where near this store, but will happily return for shirts and things from Shirts n' Things! read more

They had more than 10 different Misfits shirts, random dead stock stickers. Lots of goth, punk, post-punk and industrial bands: GG Allin to KMFDM. Friendly staff and prices. The employees really ruin this place for me. They are extremely pushy and essentially harass you the whole time you're there. They either think everyone is stealing, or they don't get paid enough and rely solely on commission, so they stalk everyone for sales. My partner and I thought it might have been targeted bc we used to go frequently but it's interesting to see that others have complained of the same. I might be willing to pay the outlandish prices if I had 2 seconds to myself to view the merchandise. I can't even focus on deciding what I want bc I'm constantly being bothered and just want to leave after 15 minutes. read more

It's a specialty store for punk, metal, and rock merch. They have tons of band shirts, patches, posters, and miscellaneous band items ranging from money clips to blankets. They also have fashion items such as jewelry, hats, ladies clothing, boots, heels, and bags. It's a pretty neat place, I ended up staying there for awhile and went home with some Rancid, Skinny Puppy, and NOFX patches as well as a Queens of the Stone Age poster. The employees are very friendly, helpful and attentive. The prices are fair. There's also a lot of parking. So no complaints. Shirts 'n' Things has been a staple in the Valley since 1989. I was 11, and didn't live here yet, for the record. I discovered this gem in 1997. The store is placed at the end of a retail strip, and next to Pho Nhat (read my review on that too...it rules. Wait, not my review, the restaurant. Ah, I digress.). When you walk in, it is much the same as it probably was then. You are always greeted by the friendly staff, and hit right in the face with the smells of incense and pure rock & roll. In this small space, you can find everything! Band and other t-shirts, clothing, shoes, lingerie, purses, wallets, jewelry, pins, posters, piercing supplies, tapestries, shower curtains...you name it, and they probably have a kick-ass version of it. The prices are awesome, and there is always a clearance rack with great stuff...not just the Barry Manilow shirts (does he know you raided his wardrobe?) that are left over in size XS. If you are looking for hard-to-find rock shirts, this is the place. There are walls and racks of them. There is always someone available to assist you in trying something on (not literally...like facilitating the trying on) or checking something out from the glass merch cases. The wait to pay is never long, and there is a new rewards program if you are so inclined. At the door, they allow local bands and venues to leave cards and ads, so you can always find some new tunage to check out. There's always stuff to find at Shirts 'n' Things. The workers were constantly asking us if we needed help and were immediately staring as I walked in. I loved this store, but never have I been treated so poorly by an employee (the tall guy in his 30s or early 40s with grey facial hair and beard, wearing a beanie). I walked into the store 5 minutes before close and told him I didn't realize they closed at 8 but drove 45 mins from north Phoenix and was going to buy a $70 jacket and be quick. He then said that they've closed at 8 for the past 30 years like I was dumb and I should have known this, hah. At 8 pm he rudely told me they were closed so I mentioned that I was making purchase and asked if I could quickly take look at the shoes before checking out to see if there was something worth making another 45 minute trip back for tomorrow. He took the comment as me refusing to leave store and told me to get out at that moment. He wouldn't let me purchase the stuff I wanted either, around a $100 transaction. On top of it he called me rude when I was simply trying to explain that I just wanted a quick visual of the shoe selection. I wasn't even looking through racks or anything. He was also laughing at me as I was walking out of the store. After all that unnecessary drama, It was literally ONLY 8:02pm when i got back out to my car. After sitting in my car for a few minutes giving my puppy treats before leaving and making the long drive back home, he began staring at me through the window with a threatening vibe like I wasn't allowed to even be in the parking lot or that I was doing something wrong. This was straight up harassment at this point. What an absolutely horrific and uncomfortable experience, I never write reviews, but I've never been harassed by a retail employee like that. I was in no way rude AND i was about to spend $100. I Would have been out of the store no later than 5 minutes after close. Not to mention my friend with me said that was one of the worst first impressions he's had and he will never go back, recommend, or spend his money there. read more

I've never had anything but positive experiences coming here. This past week I took my teenage son for his first time so he could blow some of his birthday money. He was blown away by the service, the way multiple people took the time to talk to him, and just how personable everybody was. He's already excited to go back. I cannot say enough positive things about this place. I have taken my nieces here twice, and the staff is always super friendly, helpful, attentive, and ready to answer any questions. They have the most amazing selection of t-shirts- bands, movies, anime etc. My niece has been looking for a pair of Demonia boots and finally found a place to try a pair on.
