    Hot Hazelnut Latte
    Brooke J.

Loved the Angus Brisket Breakfast Bowl--hearty and packed with flavor. Tried a single pancake with a hint of orange; unique, though I'm more of a classic buttermilk fan. Hazelnut lattes (hot and iced) were delicious. Cute, cozy spot with good service, but tables are tight and it was pretty warm inside. Still, we liked it and would come back!

    Pastrami bowl thingy!

Very friendly and attentive staff and very neat place to try unique breakfasts! Gets crowded because place is as big as an en-suite, but not super noisy, and they really try to seat you fast as possible. The pastrami bowl was surprisingly good, with gravity defying poached eggs and the most gently creamy hollandaise, tossed with super soft curds. I would say the meat was more like Montreal smoked meats but it was super tender. The fererochere sp? French roast is not too sweet and a big hit. I don't think my wife was impressed with the donburi, but hey it was a good try. I'll def come back next time I'm in Alberta. Place was t a great find!

I came here at 8:30am on a Friday with my husband and we were seated immediately. The waitress was very nice and attentive. I got the brisket bowl with tots (very good) and a single piece of French toast (delicious). My husband got the lamb shakshuka but subbed for beyond sausage and a side of tots. Everything was great and I'd definitely go back. There's a paid parking lot on the side.

Food here was excellent! Came by to try some brunch on a random Saturday and was pleasantly surprised. We went at peak lunch hours around 11:30-12 and ended up waiting for about 30 minutes which wasn't too bad. They also have an online waiting list you can join before you get there so you don't have to wait too long. The food was very good and worth every penny. Excellent seasoning and the plating was beautiful. Server was kind and cheerful. Would definitely come back again!

Food wasn't mind blowing. Serving proportions were great. Taste and quality of food wasn't special. Honestly, just a step away from mediocre. I've had really good chicken karaage from Japan and other Asian countries so I'm not sure if my standards are unrealistic for a cafe in Calgary. Just being honest tho. I'm not the best judge for lamb so I'll say it was okay- good. Service was amazing. The staff were so kind and patient to give us time to order. She also explained a few dishes to us because the menu was quite large, a lot to choose from. It was hard. Ambiance is cute. I do want to come back because of the interesting selections they had. I want to give this place a 5/5 so I'll keep going until I do. For now it's 4/5

Such amazing brunch food, really good coffee, & great service. The chai is a must try! I tried the sausage Shakshuka with side of fruit, which was better than the version I had in UK. Waitress was amazing and very friendly.

Namo is my favourite restaurant of Calgary 2021. It isn't new, but it was new to me. It was the first one I visited in-person post-isolation and the one I've revisited most since. First off, the food is incredible. Although leaning towards savoury, my most ordered dish is the Brioche French Toast with fresh berry compote. Namo awakens desires for tastes I didn't even know I had. They have beautiful cocktails and fortified coffees if you are in the mood for that. I've been ordering dishes one by one and haven't had a stinker yet. The flavours in the Lobster Benny are truly brilliant. The Duck Confit Monte Cristo is so creative and an adventure for your tastebuds. Also significant, the owners and staff are wonderful people and truly care about food and customers. From showing personal interest to offering a to-go cup for coffee, the staff have consistently been solid and a pleasure. I also appreciate the restaurant itself. It's small but mighty, with pleasant tones and open lighting that encourages the drinking of good coffee and great conversations. The parking lot is right at the side of the joint. There is a patio at the front in warmer weather.

This is the old OEB location on Edmonton Trail. Looks the same inside, limited seating. I started off with a hazelnut latte which was delicious. I ordered the truffle benny but they were out of potatoes as a side, so tater tots were given. The eggs were perfectly cooked (soft poached) and the perfect amount of truffle was on the dish. My friend had the truffle breakfast bowl which he said was delicious. Service was good, felt rushed as there was a lineup, so we were asked to leave before we were ready so they could flip our window seats

Namo is a cozy vegan friendly restaurant located on a main street leading to downtown Calgary. The service is prompt and very friendly. The restaurant has many vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free options. So there is something for everyone here. The meal was great and the coffee is fantastic here. Overall this restaurant nails it at providing delicious brunch inspired meals. If you like good service, great coffee and amazing food this is your place.

Namo has been our go to breakfast place for a while now and I will say that they have the best vegan options for breakky in Calgary. We always enjoy our time here! Every single time we have visited Namo we have been impressed by their food. Their menu is very extensive an offers so many vegan and vegetarian options you cna choose from. All the menu items are so good, it is hard to choose a favourite! But for me, it will have have be the Mighty Buddha brunch bowl. This bowl has both vegan and vegetarian options! My only complaint would be that the dining area is quite small and it is always quite cramp where we sit. I wish it was a bit bigger so we aren't so squeezed in tightly together as a family. Mind you, there are 7 of us. Overall it is worth it to sit as sardines in a can for an hour in a half to have a super tasty breakfast!

    Tiramisu Waffle

Another wonderful brunch place that will forever be on my to visit list when I'm in town! Namo Café is a cozy little spot with a large menu filled with delicious brunch items. My cousin and I shared the lobster benny which features a crispy fried lobster, shrimp and cream cheese patty topped with a perfectly poached egg and hollandaise sauce. I liked the texture of everything and flavour was spot on. My biggest beef with brunch is when it's made overly salty and this was definitely not the case! We also shared the tiramisu waffle which featured a gorgeous stack of waffles with tiramisu filling in between and a generous portion of fruits and cream. I found the sweetness a good level and did not need to use the syrup at all! The waffles are soft and moist and the filling perfectly encapsulates tiramisu flavour. I also had a chance to munch on my friends french toast and to my surprise - it was absolutely amazing. The french toast had a perfect crunch to it, the spiced peaches were lovely and had a good punch to it. Although I didn't have a chance to try the chicken karaage bowl, my friends deemed it very good and a generous portion considering the price. Warning though - it's nothing like traditional Japanese karaage, it's more like deliciously fried chicken bites. Service was decent but since it's a busy spot, be patient with the food times! We also sat outside because the inside seemed extremely cramped so that may be an option if it's a nice day and you would like to have more space to comfortably dine.

But our hunger got the best of us, so we ended up stopping in town for lunch across the street from Element Cafe. Our next mission was to get caffeine and a little something sweet to finish off lunch. Element Cafe achieved both of these goals. I ordered an Americano and it did the trick. But I really enjoyed the Birthday Cake cookie. The cookies caught my eye because they looked a lot like the mountains we were about to see in Banff: they had many ridges and depth to them. The guy working in here even offered to heat them up for us before I could ask, so he really understood the keys to our heart. My only piece of feedback would be: when you heat the cookies up, don't be shy! Push that dough to the limit and let your cookies be enjoyed the way God intended: like they just came out of the oven. With that being said, the guy was the picture of a nice Canadian. Don't let his slightly under heating on this day shape how you view him as a fellow human. He was great, as were his cookies and his coffees.

This time around I tried something they offer by reservation called afternoon tea for $40. We each got to pick a tea for our tea pot and had about 8 options. The tea itself wasn't anything special. We tried the chai and the alforno blend which both didn't taste very strong. The afternoon tea deal also came with a snack tower, the bottom consisting of savory sandwich bites, and the top two levels with pastries and sweets. The things that stood out to me were the lemon meringue, fruit tart, and the carrot cake (the cream cheese frosting was really tasty). Overall, this was a super cute and fun thing to try. I'd definitely recommend it if you want to try little bites of various things they carry.

I want to replicate this at home but fear it will take some work. The gremalata was superior. The cronut was so light and almost melted in your mouth. The raspberry filled coconut cookie was chewy and light. The breakfast with sausage eggs and potatoes and toast was enough for two. We couldn't begin to eat it all and took some away for later. Love this place. Wish we had one. We received multiple recommendations to try this from locals as well. Lots of seating. Craft coffees. Bakery and savory and food for all hours. We were shocked to find another couple sitting at our reserved table--frankly, I hadn't anticipated it would be a shared table for eight in the first place. To make matters worse, we were rushed to order and pay the bill. After that couple left, another pair were seated at our six-person table without any explanation. Our dishes arrived in two separate waves with a 10-minute gap. They also automatically added an 18% tip for parties of more than five people, which I expect at least we should have a private table. When I expressed my dissatisfaction to the server, the owner came out and became confrontational and aggressive. He raised his voice, saying I could "tell him what I am not satisfied with." Then he offered a refund, which I immediately declined, and afterward snatched a package of coffee from the counter and offered it as compensation. I refused again--it felt more like an insult than a genuine apology. After we posted our reviews, the owner privately messaged my friend, asking us to remove them and citing the "small Chinese community" as a reason we should support each other. That's incredibly manipulative. Using community guilt to pressure customers into deleting honest feedback is inappropriate and only reinforces our negative experience. I will not be returning.
