Used Castle Windows in the past and needed 2 more windows. When getting an estimate I was told I had to order a minimum of 3 windows so I did. Afer getting my windows installed I noticed they were the wrong windows how can something like this happen. So my installer called the office right away and they said they would reorder the correct windows. The next day I spoke with the office manager he was apologetic and he assured me I would be taken care of and have my correct windows in 2 weeks. I am hoping all goes well and I am not disappointed again. My installer Bernard was awesome handling the situation and I really appreciated his professionalism overseeing all that went wrong and getting me handled. Ordered windows in September after a hurricane damaged our windows. In the meantime we boarded up windows as best we could. Was promised delivery by mid-to-late October. It is the end of January. We STILL do not have windows. It's the middle of winter, and freezing in our home. Every time I call, it's "well, they may be on the next shipment. Just a week or two longer, we promise." The windows have never shown up, and at this point I am wondering if we just give up. I get we're in the middle of a pandemic, but don't promise me delivery in October if you won't be in a position to deliver even four months later. An utter disgrace. I will never use them again. I called for appt. to get an estimate on windows and installation. They called me the day before they were supposed to come, and asked me some questions. One of them being, "will you be paying for this yourself or is someone going to help you pay for this"? I thought it an odd question (None of their business) But told them my sister was probably going to help with some of it... The woman from Castle windows, proceeded to tell me that, my sister would need to be there then. To which I replied, She lives in another state and it would be impossible. To which she replied, "We can't give you an estimate if she (my sister) isn't going to be there" I said, "if I didn't mention anyone possibly helping me, as it's none of your concern, would you have come?" I also said that I had never heard of such a thing!!!! She said, "I'm sorry but we can't come if your sister isn't going to be there"! I said, "Cancel the appt. then!" I am getting estimates from different companies to replace a front door and a picture window.Because my wife works full time and I did not see a reason for her to sit through multiple sales presentations I was the only one there. The salesman showed up and told me all about there warranty. They then told me they needed to get their things out of the car and contact the office. After waiting for about 10 min I was about to just tell them I had other things to do when they finally came back in. At that point they They told me that because my wife was not there they would have to reschedule. Shawn who was apparently just along for the ride told me that is how we do business and that I was not going to tell them how things were going to be done. If this is how they do business I want nothing to do with them because I can only imagine what they would be like to deal with had I selected them to do the work. We ordered a new front door in December and knew it would take a few months to come in. They came to install it in March and didn't notice until they were almost finished that it was damaged. They installed it anyway because the other door was already removed. They left gaping holes because the weatherstripping that came with it wasn't the right size. Cold air has been rushing in ever since. We had several snow days in March and April. They said we were fast tracked for a replacement since the door was damaged. It should be here in 6 weeks. It has now been almost 3 months. They were supposed to install the new one today, and wait until this morning to call to say they don't have all the parts. Really? They didn't know that before today, when they were already supposed to be here? Don't order from them. It has been beyond frustrating! read more

We fell for the salesman's line about how Castle's products were backed by a Lifetime Warranty ... which, as it subsequently has turned out, covers nothing. After 5 weeks of promised returned calls, it took the threat of legal action to finally get "big boss" John Belmonte on the phone, who proceeded to "explain", without any logical arguments, how only SOME parts are covered, and only then for a limited period of time, and that, despite the very specific language in their written warranty, only "normal wear and tear" is covered. We'll be going to court over their failure to honor their warranty; judging by a quick Google search, court is this DBA company's second home. Steer clear! Just find another company that is actually reputable. read more

I've had Castle windows for many years with a lifetime warranty. However, they were scheduled on FIVE various occasions to replace a defective window. Each time they were to come, there was always a lame excuse for not showing. The last scheduled visit was for January 28. No one showed up or called. I called that day about 10 times and spoke with various representatives who assured me that I would receive a call back. I never did. I also left an email, also no response. I also sent a letter to the CEO, and to this day I have had no response from anyone. This is truly disgraceful and disrespectful to me because on each of those FIVE occasions, I had to rearrange the room and waste hours of my time waiting for the no shows. I've never ever received such horrible treatment from any business before. I still want my window fixed!!! read more

Unbeliveable hard sell. I thought this conduct was eliminated decades ago. The salesman spent 2 1/4 hours with us for 5 windows and 2 doors. He told us he only gets paid if we buy that day, he gets 5% and he even called a supervisor when we wouldn't bite, the price went down but we had to buy NOW --- all we wanted was a binding quote and some time to think it over. No go. The price started high and was cut in half by the time he left. The BBB A+ rating should be revoked on the basis of sales tactics. Their estimator spent approximately two hours presenting his product verbally, and using documents, cut-down windows, and a heat gun. The message was that better-known window vendors sell an inferior product at a higher price. The price he arrived at included discounts for window quantity, current sale, and purchaser's age. Today's price was only good if signed that day with a 30% ($8,000) deposit on a $25,000 job. Fortunately State law voids the contract if the buyer cancels within 3 business days. Research online indicated quite a few issues recorded by customers. I canceled, filed my action with my credit card company, and eventually received a refund. For those selecting a window replacement company, stay away from Castle Windows. They have the worst customer service and they ignore existing customers with lifetime warranties. Individuals who answer phones are rude, will not provide names, extensions or email addresses of supervisors, and state they can only take messages. They never get their orders correct on the first try; they change or delay service appointments and always seem to have to come to a home twice. Castle is an inefficient and poorly run business. I hired Castle to replace 10-windows in my home. They were highly recommended by my friend/doctor .The sales person was Jose. The installers were led by Carlos. These people were out of the New Jersey headquarters. Two GREAT people, and the windows are exactly what I wanted. The install [three people] took just over three hours for all ten windows. Two of the windows had security features, which they did not disturb. All of the installation was from the outside! The took the old windows and storms with them; no trip to the dump for me. Scheduled an appointment for estimate. Weather was bad that day, called at 9 to see if 4 o'clock was still good. After having to talk to 3 people I was assured it was. At 230 I received a call from headquarters saying it was still on and they were making sure I was still going. I said yes. I asked for estimators number to coordinate, but they said they don't do that. At 445 I called headquarters, spoke to 3 people. Finally said he wasn't answering his phone. These people are nuts! It's TRUE! They told me over the phone that both My Husband and I need to be there. That ONE of us cannot just be there... The SALES REP was at my house for 3 HOURS! ARE YOU SERIOUS?! selling me on their windows, asking me a bunch of questions, even went as far as to ask what kind of car do I drive!!!!!! wtf?! I lied to him. He proceeded to walk up to my refrigerator and ask what kind of refrigerator I have and constantly made remarks about the house. As a service business myself, This is VERY unprofessional! After the 3 hours and half asleep, he gave me a price of $ 11K? to replace 5 windows and 1 sliding door. Then he says he has to "clock out" so he made a phone call. Then all of a sudden great news! I can lower the price if you sign now. $ 9,000.00. I explained to him that we were not ready to sign anything and the we needed to think about it. He said when he walks out the door, the new price no longer applies. Oh well! GET THE F*** OUT of my house! He was extremely pushy and very unprofessional. A night mare begins....First set of installers did a lousy job. 4 days and they had not got the windows in. The windows didn't look right so I called service and they sent out the original measurer/service manager and found out that the windows were not installed where they should have been. He promised that he would take care of the original installers but didn't, and also said that I would have to wait another month for their best crew to come out and fix the problem... two days later the original crew came back to finish the project. I told them no. A month later, their best crew showed up. Two polish brothers (Greg and Karl) that I have to admit did an excellent job repairing what the first crew did. They knew what they were doing. They had to replace all the frames due to the original crew not doing their job. Within 4-1/2 hours, the best crew had the windows in and that's with reframing the windows since the original ones left old rotting wood there and did an overall terrible job, plus broke an outside solar light. While all this is happening, I spoke to the regional manager and asked for compensation. His take on it was, if there was anything left on the job. As if that is my problem or fault and it was Castle Windows that hired the crew. To top matter off, my windows are still not completely done. Seems there are parts ordered that haven't arrived yet. These parts should have been with the original order. Not only that, it seems Castle Windows was eager to get my money and cash it even though the windows were not done and I was told the check would not be cashed until it was. If you have any sense, don't use castle windows unless you use the two brothers to install them. They are the only highlight to this nightmare. Then when they came they where 16 minuets late and did not call to say running late I had to call to find out where the person was. Then the person came was very Rude and cocky and arrogant and was very pushy and slandering other companies. Person gave a price of 3070 and when I ask the price of the door and how much for install he asked why does it matter. Found that very rude and unprofessional. We have recently had a distressing experience with Castle Windows that we feel we need to share with potential customers. While perfectly nice, our initial salesperson used a hard sell tactic. The lowest price offered to us would only stand if we signed our contract then and there. Otherwise he could not promise that price. Several weeks later, we were asked to sign a waiver that said if the backsplash was damaged due to the installation, we would not hold Castle responsible. At the same time, he assured us that there would be minimal to no damage. Literally six months later, our window arrived. But installer could not install it because it was cracked. We sent it back. Six weeks later another window arrived with another installer. He took one look at the backsplash and said he would have to rip out a large portion of it to install the window. This would destroy our backsplash completely and we would have to replace it. So we sent that one back, and asked for our deposit back. Another two weeks passed and a regional installation manager came to our house to inspect the backsplash. We asked for our deposit back again and he said he had to talk to the owner. One week later, we had heard nothing. When we called, they offered us $100 off the installation. We told them we wanted a written guarantee that any damage to the backsplash during the installation would be completely fixed by them. A week later, we have "surprisingly" heard nothing. Again, I tried to reach the regional installation manager who had come out to our house. I was told he was on the road, and that he has no email address and they will not give out his cell phone number. Wow. So here we are. We may never get our $900 back from Castle Windows, but we will try to dissuade others from buying from them by sharing this ridiculous and totally deplorable experience. Don't. Ever. Never. Quick update with no good news...the regional manager bumped the problem over to the operations manager after we had several calls. Kept insisting that both myself and my wife be home. Even went as far as telling me it was some made up law. In short they will not be coming over my house to give me a quote. In fact based on my impression they sound like a company that doesn't deserve any business. I don't need my wife to buy windows. It's actually rather insulting. I mean really, they just want you both in the house so they can use shady scare tactics to sell you shit. I wish I had read these reviews before I decided to go with Castle for our Bow Windows. The sidings they put on are paper thin. The contractor literally used a scissor to cut them to size them up properly into our window. The crew left a bit of a mess before they left and acted like they didn't see it. They moved our furniture and didn't put it back into place. They removed our blinds and didn't put them back up. The caulking job wasn't very satisfactory either. The contractor also sliced a piece of wood on the inside of the house with his knife while installation. I was hoping for installers to just come in and do the job and leave but it ended up being a headache. I called Castle right away(same day) and the lady basically had me on hold for a few minutes just to come back and say "Sorry." I don't need your sorry. I need my 3K back. I should've have gone with POWER windows, but their sales rep was just plain mean. read more

I had been quoted by 3 other local contractors and was ready to just suck.it up and go the home depot route. I had all but given up, and when the two from castle showed up you could tell he had once been iny same shoes...they gave me credits for all my old windows and came in significantly less than anyone else with what tuens out to be comparable window. No mess, no bottles lying around, no saw dust, no cigarette butts....I would definitely reccomend there services read more

We gave them two chances and both times they were extremely rude and unprofessional. The first time they came early without calling and the contractor didn't identify himself or offer any greeting. When I asked if he would wear a mask he walked away without saying anything and they packed up their stuff and left. Then when I called the main office I get a story about a sick wife that I'm seriously doubting. Today they came without calling again and he again didnt identify himself or offer any greeting. We asked if he could wear a mask inside to talk and he said no before walking away. He and his lil friends hid behind their truck and I had to come out and ask what was up.They claimed their policy was not to wear masks when they work and they had to leave. The other contractors wouldn't look me in the eye and they left again. If your company has a policy of not working with masks then just say that from the start and don't waste my time. read more

I had Castle Windows install two exterior doors and new shutters on the front of the house. The first annoyance was that they did not tell me until the end of the day of the door installation that the shutters were back ordered and would not be installed until several weeks later. Also, they did not bring along an additional lock set that was supposed to be installed on the back door so that all of the exterior doors had the same key. They were expecting me to pay the whole bill and I had to force them to back out the cost of the shutters and lock set. The doors were installed about 6 weeks after the initial order. You would think that they could have told me that there was a back order issue sometime during those weeks. There was no back order issue with the lock set, they just neglected to order it at all. Luckily it was specified in the contract, as I had to point out to them. I did not discover the second problem until I attempted to paint the trim and found that they used unpaintable silicone caulk! Who in their right mind caulks trim with unpaintable caulk? When I called them to fix the problem, they basically told me to take a hike. They told me that I could use an oil based primer and it would work over silicone. Google it. There is NOTHING that sticks to silicone caulk. Everything peels right off once it dries. Now I am stuck with scraping off the old caulk before I can paint. Castle Windows does not fix their mistakes. Don't make the mistake of using them. Find someone with some integrity. If you should unwisely choose to use this company, make absolutely sure that everything is spelled out explicitly in writing in the contract. If it is not in the contract, they will weasel out of it. Even if it is in the contract and not perfectly clear, they will try to weasel out if it. Good luck! You'll need it if you use these people. read more

If I had it to do over again, I would use another company. Good prices with a good product. Unfortunately, it is a crapshoot on the install. If you get a good installer, you will be very happy. If not, dissatisfaction is likely. I find the telephone customer service to be poor. Some of the technicians are really nice guys with good work ethic. Castle windows aka Custom windows. Original contract is bogus. We were supposed to have the windows done in 2 days, it took 2 months. After many cancelled appointments and work missed on my part. Windows were upside down, holes in screens, scratched glass, sliders don't slide. Left garbage and nails in my yard. We agreed to the install because we were told we would loose our price and pay much more the following day, the salesman was at our house for 4 hours trying to convince us to buy that day. Don't sign anything on install day unless work is completely done because once you sign that they get paid by your finance company and they will get back to you when they feel like it. We had 8 windows unfinished and exposed to the elements for 2 months and we had a big snow storm which put moisture inside the window frames. We made many calls begging to have them finished and got the run around by everyone I spoke with. After 2 months of stress my windows are finally finished and fixed. I feel like if I didn't contact my finance company and have them get involved they would have never come back. If you are paying cash up front, I would consider going somewhere else. read more

I specifically wanted a true divided lite bay window look to match the rest of my house and when I showed the salesman the living room window I wanted to match he said-"colonial" profile, we can do that. What came in was thin plastic strips between two panes of glass. When I called up they said they don't make an exterior/interior grid but they could upgrade the interior grid to a colonial profile (after much discussion). You'd think I was taking food out of his kids mouth to do this. I also wanted the window to go down to the kitchen countertop. The guy who came out to measure said no problem. What I got was a window that's 6" above the countertop. These people don't listen-I don't have the view I wanted and I feel like I blew 5K. I was told they would have to build a roof over the bay, then said they had to block it up under the eave instead-it was done in metal and looks cheap-I'll have to paint it or have a contractor do some cosmetic work over it with wood trim. The installation crew was fine-polite and clean. I'm only hoping these windows are more energy efficient than the ones they took out. I would recommend going to a lumber yard and getting a decent Anderson or Marvin window and have a contractor install it. At least you have more control over the finished product. read more
