They recommended an LG Cx Oled 55" to replace my Samsung the kids use for games. Incredible picture & sound. Big upgrade. Day 5 had a blue line down middle of screen. Bummer because this is one incredible TV. Went back Day 6. Discussed the issue. They had me bring back the original and sent me home with a new one. Jeff and Chad were great in assessing the possible issue and, most importantly, what was the best path to get me the customer, back up and running in the quickest most efficient manner. Customer service. And True Techies. Now will Have them design a surround system to be built around a new 77" LG OLED I intend on buying at Nantucket Sound. read more

I'd give them zero stars if I could. They installed a new tv and av receiver and the system stopped working properly after 90 days. Two efforts to remedy the situation were unsuccessful unless you consider that working properly for a week counts as being successful. Their technicians turn over every other month and the owner is very uncooperative and has no sense of customer service. Once the purchase is complete you're on your own. Check out the other reviews. We were asked to know exactly what services we were requiring up front and pay full amount before technician would be able to come to home. We paid full amount required. Technician came to home and we did not require as many services as we thought. Only had two TVs to set up not three. We only had one TV to program not two. Technician new, only on job for a month. He was nice and considerate, but had to program TV twice and he did not ask us what we wanted programmed. So it took twice as long. We provided on the job training. When asked to reconsider amount charged as services not delivered, owner returned about 10 percent and said he needed to cover travel costs and make a profit. read more

Chris at Nantucket Sound just saved my Thanksgiving. He spent 45 minutes with me on the phone and ended up fixing my biggest issue. I had already spent over an hour with Comcast the previous night to no avail. He was patient and explained why my TV was acting the way it was. There wasn't an option for no stars Short return policy Non disclosure of a 7 day return policy when they took my credit card to set up an appointment. Failure to set up an appointment in a timely manner after taking a big deposit. Stored my credit card information in their system and put through a charge with my consent or signature. Product was defective and or damaged during transit, installation, or previously returned. Damaged cable requiring me to purchase a new cable. Removal of packaging from my home, preventing a return. Failure to provide troubleshoot help, refused to let me hire the installation technician to assist in the constant troubleshooting issues. Store manager suggest I report any problems to the Attorney General, consumer protection, or do whatever I want. The owner threaten to take me to small claims court for filing a dispute. read more

If you need a good selection of electronics and quick response at purchase, Nantucket Sound is a good choice. If, however, you think you might ever need service or repair, steer clear. They charge immediately upon receiving a request for service and will not commit to a date. I spent @$3000 with them 3 years ago, and don't get much recognition of my value as a proven customer. My advice is to find a local business, even if a little pricier, but one exhorted has a proven service history. read more

Last week for Father's Day my wife paid for Nantucket Sound to install a new radio in our car. It had been years since I had stopped in at Nantucket Sound, but after this experience I promise that I will be back. The staff here was amazing and installed my radio incredibly quickly. At first I was worried that it would cost an arm and a leg for installation, but they were actually cheaper than the box store in the area. I'm sorry there aren't 6 stars. Or 600. I would award them all. NS just installed a 65" Sony TV and hooked it up to a pretty elaborate Mac system. They also installed an in-wall center speaker. The relationship started with Tim. He was exceptionally patient and highly informative. He navigated me between sizes and "horsepower" on various Sony products. He didn't push me to the biggest or best. He sold us exactly what we needed. I was pleasantly surprised that their pricing was in line with Best Buy and online prices. I frankly went in looking for a high price. I clicked the PRICY button below... but that's because (a) they sell pricey (not "moderate") stuff and (b) there is no "reasonable" button option. They are very, very reasonable for what you get. Yesterday two installers showed up. We've had a lot of work done lately -- plumbers, electricians, carpeting, etc. It was such a pleasure to see two professionals (matching shirts; clean shaven, exceptionally polite and thoughtful) show up almost right on time (it was pouring buckets... I was amazed they showed up at all!). They could not have been more polite and efficient. In 2.5 hours they were out. The place was cleaner than when they arrived and my man-cave TV/theater looked like... well something out of a catalog. They has lots of great ideas and suggestions and we could not be more pleased. it's no wonder they have a 3-week wait now for installs. If Tiffany sold stereo/tv equipment on the Cape, this would be what it looks like. THANK YOU everyone at Nantucket Sound. Just had Nantucket Sound at the house to hang a TV, connect in-house wiring, install wall speakers and make it work. Can't say enough about the good job they did. From the early on advice from Bret at the store in choosing and advising on the setup to the installation with Chris and Scott who really knew what they were doing, I was very happy. I had not been a customer of NS since high school days (80's...) but happy that NS is still around and would recommend to anyone doing AV acquisition, install and setup. Bought a high end tv one year ago. Tv wasn't working and contacted Nantucket Sound for assistance. Basically the man who answered the phone tonight was so arrogant and continued to say the tv was ILLEGALY installed.... since they didn't install.... insurance wouldn't cover the cost of our house if "something" happened since the work was illegal. So confused. Tv installed by professionals - just not Nantucket Sound who had a 6 week wait for installation at the time. What??? So arrogant! What?? I am a bit late in writing this but I purchased my Sony 43 inch 4K Ultra HD TV on Sunday July 26, 2015. Nantucket Sound was having a sale on my item and it was not in stock at the time so I did not take delivery until Thursday September 3, 2015. Nantucket Sound gave me plenty of notice when the TV would be delivered. The installation of the TV was quick. They took away my 20 year old Sony Trinitron and I have been watching my HD TV conflict free for over two years. I no longer live on the Cape having relocated to Dover, Delaware. I wish there was a business like Nantucket Sound in this area. It would be a welcome site to deal with a family-owned audio/visual retail store instead of the national chain stores which are so prevalent here. read more

Recently purchased a plasma tv and related equipment here. Nice store, great service. Could have saved some money by buying online, yet I prefer to buy LOCAL when I can and it was worth it for the complete package and advice. The reason for the 4 stars rather then 5 was the lack (by design I think) of the signage on the displays. You had to wait for a sales person to tell you what is what. Overall a much better experience then the big box stores. read more

I don't go shopping; I go buying. I knew which theater receiver I wanted, and I found a good price online. Nantucket Sound had the unit on display and in stock. Tyler Brown was able to sell me the receiver for the online price, something no other Cape retailer I called was able to do. The store is relatively small, dark and crowded with gear, but not so much that you couldn't get a good idea of the performance capabilities of the products on display. The sales staff are attentive, and they know their stuff. In addition to giving me a good price, Tyler kept my business on the Cape, which I appreciated. For AV equipment, don't even consider the big box stores. read more

I meant to write this review on yelp a couple of years ago in 2014 as my family bought a Samsung 88" Class Led - 2160p Smart - 4k Ultra HD TV with High Dynamic Range from Nantucket Sound in Hyannis, MA. The TV is absolutely incredible and displays the most spectacular pictures; however, the salesman was extremely arrogant and a know-it-all. He treated me as if I were a child, but I am fortunate to have two ivy-league degrees. Not sure that I would recommend this establishment in terms of customer service unless you like dealing with arrogant salesmen. read more

very highly recommended. tim is very well knowledged about the products he sells. i've been doing business with him at NS for as long as i can remember. i will not go to any big box store period. i most recently purchased a new tv and after installing and hooking it up to comcast i had some major issues with permanence. tim came to my house checked thru my installation and explained a few things that i did not know. well a couple days later he came to my house again and went thru everything again. everything was fine but it acted up while he was here, but could nothing wrong with anything. the problem, of course was the comcast box. the only way to check the box is to replace it. big coincidence the box went south when the tv was installed. anyway you can't go wrong with NANTUCKET SOUND, thanks again Tim read more

I have a Nuvo system that we have enjoyed since 2007. Over the winter the tuner stopped working. In the early summer, I stopped in at Nantucket Sound in Hyannis, Ma to see if they carried and supported Nuvo products. Turned out they had the replacement tuner I needed. I purchased the tuner for over $500 used, and after waiting 4 weeks to schedule the installation, which was very expensive, they showed up without the right equipment to configure the tuner to my Nuvo system. They did, however, suggest that I purchase a Sonos, which id did at $350. They said they would give me a deal, and for another $160 dollars they would configure the Sonos to my Nuvo system and re-configure my remote. I agreed to pay for it all assuming it would all be installed correctly. They showed up a second time with the right equipment to configure the tuner; however, when they left, my outside speakers only played at the highest volume and I can't lower the volume from the Nuvo pad that controls that zone. I discovered this an hour after they left. I called immediately and the person on the phone said they would get back to me, but they never did. Today, I stopped in to pay my bill and asked if someone could call me this afternoon to walk me through fixing what I perceived as a setting problem on the Nuvo system. I called back at 5:00 pm and the technician asked that I look at cables in the back and swap them. I did this, but it did not fix the problem. He then said, "Everything was working when I left". I told him I called an hour after they left to report the problem and spoke with an employee named Tyler. He said he had to pass me on to his project manager. Guess who? Tyler! Tyler told me he would have to charge me time and materials to come back out to fix what was wrong. He stated it was most probably the brains of the system that controls the outside speakers probably broke when the tuner went. When I told him we used the outside speakers with our iPod on 4th of July weekend and the Tuner went last year, his response was that he "would be happy to come out again provided I pay for time and materials" to fix the problem and he had nothing more to offer me. BEWARE! This company sucks you in then tries to keep the visits and bills coming. Who knows what they did to my Nuvo system? They did not install my system which they stated several times during both visits. Tyler, their project manager. said it again on the phone which is the reason things are not fixed. He stated " We don't understand how it was installed so its not clear to us what's wrong." They had no problem taking my $600 dollars for the service call without completely configuring my system and all of the speakers. If you use them, and I would highly suggest you don't, ensure they garrantee their work ahead of time! My mistake hopefully is your gain! read more
