They checked it free of charge, and told me it needed to be replaced. They also checked the alternator and said, it too was no good. I bought a battery from them and took the truck to a repair shop where they checked the alternator. It was working well and didn't require replacement. That extra trip to the repair shop cost quite a bit of money, and was an inconvenience for me as well as others. In addition, I was told that this was not the first time that AutoZone store had misdiagnosed the condition of an alternator.

Clearly the stars aligned today…read more Our RV generator stopped working 8 hours into our trip on day 1 of our 2 week vacation and not only were we lucky enough for them to be able to squeeze us in (we were camped out on their doorstep when they opened) but they also had the replacement part needed to get us back on the road, all before they closed at 5pm. We had given them a heads up via their after hours service and clearly they communicated to their team what a predicament we were in. Not sure what we would have done, you can drive across this country in 100 degree heat without an AC. We were 8 hours from home and 2 days from our destination.
