Huge shoutout to the NAPA Auto Parts in Davis! My car's 12V battery was low and it was driving really slow. I thought that I had to replace the whole battery, but when checked by Walmart auto they told me it just needs a recharge and NAPA auto parts might offer the service. I don't remember the name of the staff member who helped me, but he was incredibly kind & so helpful. He took out the battery, charged it for 2-3 hours & reinstalled it for me. Everyone there was super helpful and friendly. As someone who doesn't know much about cars, I truly appreciated the help they provide. I've also bought a few tools here in the past always a great experience. So grateful to have this shop in town. read more

Went here a while back to get some replacement brake light bulbs. Spoke to the guy at the counter and gave my make and model etc. and he said grab X bulbs, they'll work. I checked out and went on my way. Covid hits, so I'm no longer commuting to work so my car has been sitting forever. Finally get around to putting in the bulbs this morning only to find that the ones they spec'd actually don't fit so I go back this afternoon wanting to exchange the bulbs. I'm told since I opened it I can't return them, I explained I don't want to return them, I just want to exchange them for the right ones. Even willing to buy more expensive LED ones and pay the difference. Nope. They refused. Said they wouldn't exchange or let me put the value towards better bulbs even though they were the ones who told me to get the wrong ones originally since it's been so long. I understand not getting a refund but no exchange or credit towards more expensive ones?! Literally trying to give them more money. I left and went to O'Rileys down the street. Just to make sure I asked them what bulbs I needed and they spec'd the right ones. Bought the more expensive LED option from them and tossed the Napa ones in the trash as they are about the same value to me as I am as a customer to them. These guys apparently can't even spec bulbs right when they're sitting in front of a computer. Not going to trust them with any of my other automotive needs. Shame too. I did like the AAA discount but I'm willing to pay more elsewhere out of principle. read more

NAPA in Gardnerville, Nevada practices great customer service. We visited the store recently looking for a specific concentrated windshield washer fluid. Soon after we entered the store we were greeted and asked if we needed any help. The employee answered all of our questions and showed us where to find what we needed. When we decided on a product another employee offered to complete the transaction. Many retail stores could learn a lot from the guys at NAPA. read more

Both the employees there at that time were extremely nice and helpful. I called twice beforehand to ask about prices for a brake light, which were decently priced for a pack of 2. When I got there, I purchased one for only $2.62! They also honor a AAA discount of 10% if you show your card. Not only were the prices here great, but they even offered to help me install my brake light for free and were very fast and efficient. This is a store front that always has someone knowledgeable at the front counter, and in my experience if they don't know the answer, they go and ask someone that might. I like that they are not trying to lie to me about products and can give me an honest opinion on a cheaper product that will save me money and do the same thing as the one that is more expensive. I usually do my homework before I go in and know what I need or call ahead to confirm they have the product. If they don't they can usually get it by the end of the day or first thing in the morning, as a lot of the stores are close by and they can quickly transfer the item. Good Job Guys! My battery died and i called ahead and they said they can test batteries and have tools to let us borrow to change it. The battery was super corroded and they even went outside to help us pull the battery out of the car. Marin was supper helpful and even gave us gloves to help us out. The selection is pretty good. The space is fairly small, but they seem to prioritize well. They also have a parts dept. (apart from the odds n ends store) that appears well stocked. The prices are reasonable, and the guy that helped me was good. If this was the extent of my experience, I'd probably give it 4 stars. But, unfortunately, it was not. I've been to this store about 3 times. I like the Napa chain in general, and wanted to like this one. Each time, though, the experience was the same. I came in and there were about 3 guys working. The youngest would ask if I needed help, and I'd decline. I look around and, when I was ready to ask for something, the young guy would help me, be pleasant, and leave me with a good impression. He was great, and I'd agree with the other reviewer about him. The problem was the other two guys. Obviously older, they were complaining about people each time I went in. Not the ordinary, "I can't believe that happened" kind of complaining. But really mean, bitter, generalizing. About how everyone else is lazy, overpaid, and stupid. Once, they barely waited until a customer was out the door before they proceeded to agree that he was a subhuman piece of pooh. Don't get me wrong, I'm no wilting daisy. I can give it as well as I take it. But talking like that IN FRONT OF OTHER CUSTOMERS is just plain stupid, unprofessional, and gives the business a bad image. Once, I would understand. Twice could be an exception. But three times tells me this is the normal way they are. Again, the young guy that helped me did not participate. In fact, he may have even looked a little uncomfortable. I've given Napa 3 chances, and they've failed. Now its time to check out other places. I had problems finding the right type of windshield wipers and over the last two days went to the Davis location, W. Sacramento location, and today back to the Davis location. Abdullah helped me and he was great! He ended up returning, replacing, and then putting new ones on for me. He was patient, knowledgeable, and genuinely wanted to help all while staying calm despite staff shortages. I wanted to write to make sure his manager Adrian and corporate know that his customer service was wonderful and that he should be recognized. Order parts for our Freightliner truck. Gave the VIN#, year and model of the truck. Sent the wrong Alt, oil filter, they sent 4 DIFFERENT SHOCKS, none of them are right. Never got the oil. Was told we could take it to local restore for return. CAN'T. Was told to return them UPS, we did, 3 weeks later they shipped them back saying not returnable. I find it unimaginable that anyone had a good experience here. We were working on a car one afternoon and visited this location at about 3pm. It took about 20 minutes to get the parts we needed, one of which required them to look around in their stockroom behind the counter. We made our purchases, but had a question about one of the products. Instead of answering us the older guy at the counter abruptly and caustically told us the store was closing. So we left. We needed a new trailer hitch ball quickly. Two Napa employees got right on it. It wasn't an easy job since the original hitch ball was very difficult to remove. These two guys were persistent and creative, trying different solutions until it worked. They didn't even make much money on the new part, which they installed carefully. I had a NAPA battery put in my vehicle by Garden Automotive in Burlington NC in November of 2017. The battery went bad in August of 2018 on a Sunday. I removed the battery and took it to the NAPA auto parts store because Garden Automotive was closed on Sundays. The employee at NAPA tested the battery and told me that it was a defective battery but he could not replace it because I had bought it at a repair shop. My car battery died without warning yesterday and this was the closest place. The two guys working were extremely friendly and got me the right battery right away. After installing I had tons of questions which they answered patiently (turns out the old battery was the wrong size). The parts guys in here are very well qualified in terms of knowing what parts you are referring to. They seem to be veterans in the automotive world which can be great if your trying to get your hands on something specific. The only thing i dislike about this particular Napa is the parking lot, its super tiny and kind of awkward and annoying to navigate in and out of especially if there are quite a few people moving in or out at the same time. read more

Had a great experience with these guys in a nightmare of a day! My girlfriends tire on her BMW Z3 blew out so I had to drive to Davis from Fairfield to help her not too big of a deal or so I thought... Upon my arrival, I find that her tool set is missing and of course my lug wrench won't fit the lug nuts on her car. I go to Napa with her to buy a lug wrench, drive back to her car to find this too does not fit. I go back to the store and they not only gladly let us return the lug wrench but one of the employees let us borrow his personal tools. NAPA provided an email address in their review to make the response. I used the email address to attempt to send them an email; it was not deliverable to them or me. I had to go back to their response to the review, click on the email address and use what I call their internal system, which would not allow me to send a copy of the email to myself.
