It is imperative that students look for ways to self-advocate and imperative to get involved in clubs or other activities. Parents will need to be more involved to help with a 4-year plan to use the many options available at the school. The music program is excellent in all areas, choir, orchestra and band... the athletic opportunities are strong (although if you are a casual player, you may not make Varsity or JV)... the clubs can sometimes fill up too much and they have to have try-outs. There is a club for just about any/every interest. The school is very large and competitive on both an academic and sports level. NNHS offers tons of options for career exploration so students can tap into their interests and find out where they may want to go after high school. For many coming out of NNHS this means getting a college degree however NNHS does educate students on options outside of the traditional college route. NNHS provides students with the tools necessary to be successful in and after high school.

Let me get this straight ~ you would rather accept an "F" caliber student who has siblings attending or parents who attended rather then a "B" student with NO previous ties to this school? The walls were always covered with art and they have a crossing guard during peak hours to make sure the kids cross the streets safely. They also have bussing if your children live too far! The playground is open to all as well. It's usually full of kids during the summer just hanging out. Very safe area. Great swings, slides and other do hickies. Has two hoops as well for basketball.

The facility on the inside in older and could use improvement, but for a large high school, it's not terrible, but not great either. It's a sad statement in this day and age that we need metal detectors at school, but unfortunately, West has one. No fault of the school, but it's quite an interesting sight.
